Tinkering

Don’t agree with bash and egan, he has options, he has two centre half’s on the bench, no mugs either. But what he is doing in regards to bash and Egan is he is playing his best players in those positions every game. And is rightly playing Bash and Egan. It’s a shame he doesn’t have that exact same philosophy for positions further forward.

Who is the other non mug?

  1. Worst 2 Centre Backs in a long time !

Said it from first time I saw him and every game since, Davies is crap! Can’t defend, can’t tackle, positional sense is poor. But he is good on the ball which for some reason makes him good for some blades. That’s not what we need, we need a brute.

Plays for Liverpool so clearly no mug. That being said I have already said I wouldnt play him and Egan is correctly playing every single game and shouldn’t be rotated.

I agree he’s not an Egan replacement. Who do we have that is? I’d suggest no one which is why there’s no rotation there.

As you said on the other thread, opinions. It’s United :)

ATB !

If you start a match you don't have to finish it.

Billy has always been better as a starter in my view.

Just agree you're giving him an hour instead of 60 minutes.

We should have used Jebbo. Outside of Sharp, nobody has more goals this season than him.
Instead of 90 🤦‍♂️

It's a threadbare, patchwork squad of players that is waiting to be rebuilt. While we treading water waiting to see when the rebuilding will start,we may as well be having a bit of a go at the playoffs which is the maximum we can expect after the start we had with the squad we have.
The present football management team are picking up the pieces after some horrendous decisions made on and off the pitch by off and on field management, and are working with their hands tied compared to a good few teams around them.We are a development club, these don't become a success overnight and we have hardly started down that road yet.

? They all get put through the same fitness/ training regime unless obviously coming back from injury, they all have to pass these tests. Yes people are different but if only our 3 cbs are fit enough to play week in week out then we have serious issues with our fitness and conditioning coaching side.

CB is a lower intensity position.

Totally get the rotation policy ; I’m more in favour of a formation rotation also when the opposition show limited offence Last night was crying out for four at the back.
Berge on ,at at the minimum , half time and hook either Robinson or George to make way ...great coaches aren’t we...

This team tinkering has to stop, why is it always midfield and forwards he tinkers with. I’d say Basham does more sprints and covers as much ground as anyone but you don’t see him getting a rest, or Egan.

Prime Example is Ndiaye, he looked miles off it and his sharpness was not there, he needs to be playing every week not sat on the bench resting and losing his match sharpness.

Play your best players every single game and get the 3 points. If someone gets injured so be it we have players to come in but rotating the midfield and forwards is gonna kill us.
100% agree , if the games are coming thick and fast rest players between games , don’t change winning teams . All the chopping and changing the last 2 matches has completely fucked the shape & tempo of us up

Yeah. Should have played fleck and berge while they were out injured instead if all this tinkering.
Plus ndyie, who runs his arse off, new to full league football, should just do 90 minutes, twice a week.
No wonder we are losing every week.

Agree, 4 changes to the side every game are too much.
We need to stick to a settled side as much as we can barring injuries.

But they cover more ground granted at less intensity but more ground non the less, wingers and strikers cover less ground but usually there work is at full tilt. Regardless they should all be at similar fitness levels and be able to play 3 games a week, I'm not talking full 90 mins each and every time. 4-5 changes a game is to much!

Disagree with respect, this why PL clubs who play in Europe have larger squads. You can’t sustain two matches a week for long without constantly making changes.

Except years ago, less fit players used to go through a whole season virtually unchanged with no subs on shit pitches along with a crap diet, smoking and drinking. If conditioned right, there's no reason why modern footballers can't play lots of games.

Last 7 games 4 wins 3 draws 15 out of 21 points promotion form

But hey let's run a ever decreasing squad into the ground

If it's as possible as you say it is, then isn't it strange that every single club is getting it wrong?

Have you watched a game from pre-1992 recently? It's slow-motion. Players covered less ground and made fewer sprints and, importantly, turns.

A few points. Both full backs were both changed due to injury.. We have 5 centre backs for 3 starting positions, although Goode is an unknown quantity at the Lane.
Do the medical, fitness and conditioning team have any responsibility for decisions related to Fleck, Stevens, JOC and Berge et al?
Could Jebbinson go the same way as Ndiaye with the pace and effort required at this level.
Didzy’s season is over. Hands up all those who would accept unbreakable top scorer Billy Sharp facing the same fate?
The midfield pairing of Norwood and Hourihane are rightly first choice now. Do you rest both (older players requiring a high work rate), or just one at a time?
We don’t see them in training, so that aspect is probably best left to the manager/coaches.
All players are different. Some have terrific energy and natural pace and fitness that will carry them through this very busy spell. Others not so much.
Hell of a job for a manager trying to look after his assets and his job!

Just me playing devils advocate with limited knowledge. :)

More than welcome to disagree 👍

If playing Norwood, it's gotta be Berge alongside him. We cant have Norwood, Hourihane and Fleck in the same side

Did you not think Ndiaye was rusty tonight? Off the pace with his touch and definitely his sharpness.
Or is the current schedule catching up on him and he needs a longer rest? Don’t you think the manager and coaching staff would know better than you?

Doesn't actually play or played for Liverpool... can't see point of having this player at BDTBL as he isn't playing for us either.
