This team tinkering has to stop, why is it always midfield and forwards he tinkers with. I’d say Basham does more sprints and covers as much ground as anyone but you don’t see him getting a rest, or Egan.

Prime Example is Ndiaye, he looked miles off it and his sharpness was not there, he needs to be playing every week not sat on the bench resting and losing his match sharpness.

Play your best players every single game and get the 3 points. If someone gets injured so be it we have players to come in but rotating the midfield and forwards is gonna kill us.

Fair point. How many times do we hear teams go on a run by forging partnerships an understandings. Making unforced changes does seem to go against all the reasons teams go on winning runs. Unless you're someone like Man City....which we are most definitely not.
I guess we shouldn't be to harsh as we're still near the top of the 'form table' but you're right, missed opportunities like this might end up costing us big time.

Most players can't keep playing weekend, midweek, weekend every week for a month.

If they try they will get injured.

Jesus wept.

But Egan, Basham can? So players have a rest, come back next game a bit rusty and we drop points, but as long as they don’t get injured because we want them to sit out the next game again then come back even more rusty. Shambles.

omfg do you not realise that people are different? One player will have stamina and conditioning that allows them to play frequently. One player doesn't.

? They all get put through the same fitness/ training regime unless obviously coming back from injury, they all have to pass these tests. Yes people are different but if only our 3 cbs are fit enough to play week in week out then we have serious issues with our fitness and conditioning coaching side.

I agree with rotation but to do it every game is a bit OTT and despite our win over West brom the performances over the last few games have been poor in reality. Rotate yes but not every single game surely

Of course I do, but they are professional athletes who should be able to play twice a week. Sports scientists are full of shit btw, got to be seen doing a job and reporting on every single detail. Let the fuckers play and get 3 points, if they get injured then those having a “rest” will be as fresh as a daisy to step in. Silly bastards on here think they are playing football manager, they are paid to play, play and get three points.

completely agree, we don’t have a squad with the level of quality that you can rotate, amd I’d say it’s more than tinkering it’s changing a 3rd of the team, its barking mad, when Wilder tried to do it we dropped points, same is happening here, winning team keep it the same, I don’t get the argument that they’re knackered as they didn’t play for nearly month.

How can you be rusty when your still playing every 7 days or so?

You will not find a single football team in the country who will play the same 11 when they have 7 games in 22 days.
You probably could if you look further down the football pyramid, what the op is trying to point out is 4-5 changes every game is far to many an totally disrupts the flow of the team. Them players should be able to play 3-4 consecutive games maybe not full 90 mins but starting yes, tinkering every game is OTT.

Honestly the amount of people in this thread that have absolutely fuck all clue how fitness/match fitness etc works is ridiculous. The most stupid people are always the loudest.
Come on then Mr Motivator give everybody a lesson on how it all works.

Did you not think Ndiaye was rusty tonight? Off the pace with his touch and definitely his sharpness.
He's been off it his last 2 or 3 games, he's a young lad with some big holes in his play that will improve over time. How can you expect him to play 90 mins twice a week when he's only just come out of the U23s, a month ago he could only manage 60 mins before he was cramping up, the lad needs resting as do a lot of other players who don't have the fitness levels of the likes of bash.

Who would you rotate those two with?
I wouldn’t? Your not getting my point here.

I’d play my strongest 11 so Basham and Egan would play every game. So would Norwood, Ndiaye, Berge etc.. in fact the only player in the whole squad i’d maybe go careful with us Berge because of his old injury but the others would all be lining up with Bash and Egan every game.

I’m fully getting your point. You asked why not Egan or Bash. It’s because he has next to nothing in the way of options with those two.

Norwood had a shocking run fairly recently. Ndiaye is on and out on regularly subbed. As is Hourihane. Berge not a regular starter etc. Fitness has to be the major reason playing catch up with games in hand.

Baldock had a good game Saturday. Although up against probably the best player on the pitch tonight he looked knackered. Fitness. Bogle will be back in ASAP.

Don’t agree with bash and egan, he has options, he has two centre half’s on the bench, no mugs either. But what he is doing in regards to bash and Egan is he is playing his best players in those positions every game. And is rightly playing Bash and Egan. It’s a shame he doesn’t have that exact same philosophy for positions further forward.

If people don’t understand that playing twice a week as a midfielder or forward is harder than the same amount of games as a defender then they’ve probably not played football. Very different levels of stamina needed in the various positions. Forwards cover a lot of ground for no reward and need to make lots of bursts, it’s harder to do that when you’re knackered. Midfielders work a lot harder than a CB, not even comparable.

Play the best team, but make sure they’re all fit before you do would be my view.
