People see what they want to see. Confirmation bias in action. Guarantee if Jebbison made those 2 sub appearances he'd get a VERY different reaction.
McBurnie had a reasonable first season, chipped in with some goals (joint top scorer in a team finishing 9th) and had a few games where he was very good.
Granted 2nd season he was garbage, as were near enough the rest of the squad.
This season has been stop / start, with limited chances through injury / Covid etc etc. However, as he's getting back to fitness he's had a couple of objectively promising cameos.
He's performed at this level before, so clearly has it in his locker. Theres a few saying its irrelevant, it's in the past for another club but then using the last 2 years as a stick to beat him.
What matters is the here and now, and what we have are 2 promising performances.
We've all written off most of this squad, but have seen upturns in Sharp, Norwood, Robinson, McG, Brewster etc. It's amazing what playing in a team in form and full of confidence can do. Let's not forgot the players are human.
Like it or not, McBurnie has a role to play this season. Personally think he can be a big asset in the run in, and reckon we'll see the best of him.
But as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Over to you Oli.
