£24 tomorrow night to see third tier football on a weeknight against Franchise Dons. Admittedly it's a bit less on the Kop but at 6 foot 4 I'd have to guarantee not sitting next to anyone so that I could fit into that stand.

Good value? Probably better value than when I paid £31 to see that Huddersfield game.

My answer is; no, poor value.

You will probably be sat in front of me. Tall people should have their own section at the Lane ,so everyone else can see. Longshanks corner in the BLUT would be my idea ,or the backrow boys.

I'm 6 foot 3 and sit on the Kop. Simple answer to this, just sit on the end of the row of seats and you can put your legs facing the aisle. Loads of room and you get to trip people up for fun and its cheaper.

If we had standing then all the longshanks could be at the back - problem sorted

I'm tall, and tend to stand up at the back of the kop. Ideal situation really. It's easy to nip out for a piss or a fag, and first in the queue for a half time pint.

Maybe. As I'm 5'9" - exactly the national average - I'd fit nicely between the two poor unfortunate groups of freaks.

Any form of 'entertainment' seems to be ridiculously overpriced these days - but then I'm just an old fart who can recall going to the Lane as a nipper for One shilling (juvenile rate - 5p in today's money).
A trip to the theatre can cost £60 these days (West End) and £40 for a good provincial theatre. Watching some so-called 'tribute act' at Skeggy's Embassy Theatre can set you back £25.
As long as there are people prepared to pay these prices, they will continue to charge them.

The world's gone mad.

Tarquin, weren't you in the Boddington's advert?

We seem to digressing...

Only one fifth of the population are real men, as only one fifth of men are 6 foot tall and over!

I'm one!!!

When Bert rang the ticket office to get his tickets for the Wednesday match the phone call cost him £4.71, members still can't get their £2 discount if they book online and there is also a £1 online booking fee.

There is also a £1 fee for buying a ticket over the phone even though they just activate the membership card rather than post the ticket out. Also when you give them your membership number over the phone they will charge you full price unless you point out that you are a member and are entitled to the £2 discount.

So unless you actually visit the ticket office you can add at least £1 to all ticket prices.

All in all it's third rate just like the division we are in.

Or save yourself the hassle and buy and season ticket.

Waste of money, his Bertship will be in the Caribbean for a month soon and again in February.

The point is, that the casual fan has to put up with a load of hassle if he wants to go to the game, a lot of people won't bother.

Bert - Casual ?

Nah, Bert was a season ticket holder for years, been going to the Lane since the 60's and hasn't missed a home game this season but he hasn't bought a season ticket this time for various reasons.

It's all very interesting now to learn what sort of crap the non season ticket holders have to put up with.

Lanky gets should have to pay a premium as they take up more room inside the ground.

I've always thought fat folk should have to pay more for everything, clothes, food (might help the situation), seats etc. but maybe that's because I'm 6'3. Never thought of being tall as taking up too much space, we are like sky scrapers, not bungalows.

I sit on the kop and I can just about fit my legs in, always helps so sit on the end or at the back, or next to an average height fellow whose legs aren't so long.

I don't have a season ticket, but when i go, I go a bit earlier, queue 5 mins at the ticket office, then go to my seat.

Quite simple really when you know there's no chance of selling out !

His Bertship is spot on. It's too much work, and too expensive for non season ticket holders to turn up.

I had a season ticket in the family stand for nearly 20 years but I'm not allowed back in it unless I buy a junior ticket with it. Surely the aim is to get people into the ground? Perhaps I've become a thug overnight.
