Hearing reports that Brewster is having an operation and will be out for the rest of the season. Real shame for the lad when he was just coming good.

It is a real shame and it must be extremely difficult for him. A hamstring operation at his age should mean his recovery is as quick as it could be. However, players seldom come back as quick. Whilst a turn of speed isnt his forte a drop of speed could be a disaster for him and us. Look how hamstring injuries ruined Michael Owen, he himself talks about this.

I am gutted for the lad and the club (and supporters. He was really starting to look the part. I am sure he will come good.

Why? Do you have access to a report that says his Hamstring was defective when we signed him or that our "Medics" (do we actually have any?) told him to play when he shouldn't have?
Or maybe they have not rehabbed him correctly along with berge after his first hamstring injury

Both Berge and Brewster had set backs with their hamstring injuries.

Too many coincidences coupled with JOC's injury for it all to be bad luck.

Without wanting to accuse the club or staff unduly but we do seem to have had a run recently of badly diagnosed injuries don't we.

JOC's is probably the worst though.

Pure coincidence then along with some of the other niggling injuries this squad keep picking up.

So the evidence of the medical team's failure is that other Sheffield United footballers have suffered injuries?

Footballers, suffering injuries? Whatever next.....

Look, in all seriousness, I obviously don't know whether there is anything our 'medical team' (not sure whether we're including or excluding S&C here) could, or should have done which may have prevented Rhian's injury. Thing is, you could literally make that accusation every single time any player ever gets a muscular injury.

We are looking for new medical staff as well but I could be 2 plus 2 and making 5 here but we seem to be in quite a mess in this department.

We had a ridiculous run of good health for years under Wilder basically until the pandemic (even moreso given the intensity we played at, especially asking the defenders and wingbacks to do so much running) so it does feel like things have snowballed on the injury front in the last year or so but it might just be that we've returned to a "normal" level of injuries.

I'm sure this site isn't 100% complete but we're far from the most injury-hit team in the Championship at the minute: https://www.online-betting.me.uk/injuries/england-championship-injuries-and-suspensions

Shame for Brewster the lad can't catch a break at all

I Suppose that's what happens when you piss a player about for 2 years play him out of position and barely play him at all to get his body/muscles used too playing 90 minutes

It is bad luck as it just so happens to have occurred with one of our expensive signings who was starting to make good. I wouldnt want to wish this type of injury on anyone but you know what I mean reading between the lines.

ah these poor footballers playing not enough or too much
perhaps if we only play each team once and for 20 minutes each way we can cut down on injuries

or instead stop what they are doing what taking people to a physical peak that puts them at a much higher rate of breaking down

this is across football
in the seventies physical peaks were cutting down to 2 fags at half time
today they count blood cells and oxygen levels to push people to the limit
but it comes with risks
cruciate ligament injuries were nearly non existant in the days of Woodward and Currie
modern day demands are forcing the level of injuries not medical staff who are paid to take them to the edge

most cruciate. injuries go independently of any contact
144 have been recorded in pro football this season

At least it has happened at a time when, with an operation required, there will be no incentive to rush him back too early to contribute to the rest of the season.

Typical United luck lately
Could have had am injury at any time in the last almost two years and nobody would have noticed

But have three good games and it seems like you're gonna get injured

Out for this season, starts the long road back to recovery without doing much next season, and gets offloaded for £5 million because that's better than getting nothing for him

We seem to have a lot of players significantly re injure themselves after coming back, more than other teams it feels..

from a BMA study
How common is an ACL in football?

The study found that the ACL injury rate for football players was about 11.1 percent. That high rate indicates that one out of every 10 players on a football field will experience an ACL injury.Dec 31, 2018

so a squad of 30 can expect to lose 3 a season

just our luck its the ones we paid a lot for

Whilst very sad for Rhian, it opens up an opportunity for Oli McB to turn his career right round again.

What’s ACL got to do with anything and I think you’ve got the wrong sport
