Sander Berge Haters

Some players are quieter and prefer to try to get on with their business quietly

Some run about like headless chickens, diving into tackles and shouting and bawling at everybody

The first type of player is usually a more skillful, thoughtful player with ability, the second is usually a carthorse making up for his lack of talent.

His size has nothing to do with it, he wasn't bought to be the next Monty.

He was bought because he has ability on the ball, which itself is a miracle considering the fans he'd be playing in front of, and we can see how those that think he wasn't a Wilder signing might be right.

Here's my feedback sandwich;
Some lovely touches and an asist for our record holder,
Stands at 6'3 jumps at 3'6 (if only he could head the ball)
Drove forward from 70 min+ and scared the shit out of blue noses.

Needs game time to become confident and match fit.

Norwood closed down by brum midfield, always a problem for us ,that got sorted second half with Berge higher. The teameffort gave us 3 points.

End of the day we can all dissect who were when played well its 3 points onwards and upwards but Berge is getting better 👍
🎵every day, 🎶stronger in every way.🎵
Excussay, getting giddy, but what a good win for the Blades tonight.😁

He was better tonight but the bar was low to begin with. For a moment I thought he was going to belt the ball into the top corner at one stage. Go on Sander, you know you want to.

He was poor first half, but got stronger as the game went on.
Subtle switch, more inside second half, and it reaped rewards

The more games he plays, and if he avoids injury, the better he becomes

Berge has never had a good 15 minute spell, never mind a good game, he has no fight or will to win….

Give us Bob Bookers, John Gannons, and Nick Montgomery's every day of the week.
Berge is easily our best midfielder and probably the best we have had in years.
I really don't get what some of our fans are watching he rarely gives the ball away and is so comfortable on the ball.
Yes he does look a bit laid back, but just because he doesn't shout, go flying into tackles, kiss the badge and play up to the crowd our fans write him off, just like they did with Brewster.
Cut the guy a bit of slack he's had a bad time with injuries and is just coming back, he will only get better with game time. If he stays fit he will be a big player in our push for the top six.

Like McBurnie, he needs to do this regularly now to prove his worth.

Birmingham has always been good at closing down Norwood, it was the same at the Lane the year we went up, Norwood was dropping so deep to find space he was practically picking the ball up on the penalty spot.

Aggressive Berge is a good player, we see that about 10% of the time.

The rest of the time he wants to pass it sideways and avoid any responsibility

Same place I was in the previous 2.5 years. Wondering how the fuck we’e paid £25,000,000 for that. But he had a good game last night.

Well we signed him almost bang on 2 years ago and he has been injured for about a year so I don’t think that’s a fair assessment

Again if you judge players against there price tag you will be disappointed

Maybe that’s why billy sharp is judged as Pele because there judging him against his transfer fee 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Seemed to be up for playing at a higher intensity and pressing more at times last night.

He did well after an ineffective first half (for everyone)

It was also good to see he seemed to interact with his team mates a bit more on the pitch too. He put his arms around Bogle for a good while after the goal and was in conversation pointing around a few times (but not like James harper)

Let’s hope we see him close to his best between now and the end of the season.

He also had severe Covid in October and lost a lot of weight and therefore strength, so is still rebuilding. Not sure if that’s generally known, I found out last week?

No i didn't know that I think mcbunie was similar from what has been said

Hopefully we can kick on because if you add MGW into that midfield we will be a class above IMO

Not been a fan of his but tonight was his best game in a red and white shirt since he signed.
Let's hope he can keep it up, Hecky seems to have got through to him about what's required so he could be a real bonus.
He cost over 20 million he's been here 2 years ,if that was his best game in a red and white shirt then he's been a disaster signing

Nice one! Start a thread about Berge then hijack it yourself to have yet another dig at Billy Sharp. Obsessed!

Man alive, he gets praised to the skies far too easily.

He had a good second half today - apart from the sitter he missed - and put in a very good assist for the equaliser, but his fan club continue to see things that aren't there.

For a start - and this is not his personal fault - he is deceptively slow. He does glide around like you'd expect a good player to do, but it's like three-quarter pace. This will be his problem moving forward to another team in a major league, unless someone can find a position for him on the field that suits him and I doubt that's the right side of a midfield three.

The lad is a CDM/CM, yes he can get past people etc but that doesn’t mean that’s his natural position or how he wants to play

He is being played in a position where maybe his comfort zone is stretched

The he needs to play a more English style like what we are used to, understandable based on the league we are in, is a reason why we will never be anything more than what we have been IMO

😂😂 - didn’t see the interview, but presume from your mildly sarcastic tones he said the same?!

good to note I read the game as the man himself, even after a few beers in the lord nelson
I've watched it about 6 times and am still undecided. In the moment I thought great pass but after hearing Hecky's thoughts I'm not sure. Ended up in the net, that's all that counts.

For me the thro ball was intended for Ndaiye, over hit but Billy latched onto it

He’s got class, but seems to be ‘almost’ there

For his class he should be dominating games, not looking good for 20 mins against a poor brim team
Agree. Anyone who thinks that pass was aimed for Billy is extremely optimistic.

Not that it matters given it be went in. But Billy made a great run, latched in to a stray pass and buried it. Let’s not give Berge all the credit.

Okay, the £25,000,000 waste of money aside, I’ll judge him on the fact he hasn’t yet earned a regular place in a team in England’s 2nd division. The same way as 3 managers have. He was good from the 65th minute yesterday, but like the previous 2+ years, fairly anonymous before that.

We can both really hope that he keeps it up, for once. Fingers crossed. 👍

If he’s not the answer then neither is nearly every single other player in our team. He was no worse than anyone else on the pitch in that first half and he was decidedly better than his fellow midfielders. The second half he was one of our better players.

I’ve said on another thread that it’s now become a ‘thing’ in that he has to be so much obviously better than everyone else to get even the slightest bit of credit. His transfer fee is probably blinding a few in that regard.
It's not about whether he was better or worse than the rest of the midfield today, it's how the midfield works as a combination

For me Berge in midfield makes us less fluid regardless of whatever midfield combination he is paired alongside.
