Aaron Ramsdale interview

To be honest I haven’t watched the interview so I can’t really comment on the circumstances. It doesn’t sound great. Maybe he deserves some stick for how he acted in those final days before he left.

My post was born of frustration at a section of our support who decide that Ramsdale was a bad player after watching him a handful of times—not that he was in poor form, or that he was a young keeper learning his craft, but that he was a shit player. And some of them are still at it despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

Fair 👍

For anyone who's interested, the full Podcast (around 90 minutes long) is available now;

(Also available on Spotify/Apple I believe)

Not too bothered about his comments TBH. Usual footballers guff. Getting top end of the market value for the Ramsdale transfer with good add ons was a good result, and goes with the territory of getting relegated, frustrating as it is. At least we didn't give him away like DCL, Walker, Brooks, Maguire etc. That stings far more when you get done over for a decent transfer fee.

This is what I picked-up on from the first 30 minutes or so,

They all call him "Rambo".

He/Rambo is a competitive guy.
He/Rambo likes to play cards.
He/Rambo likes a manager that puts his arm around him.

On the other hand Wilder gives "bollockings", Wilder can be "nasty", but then he invites you the next day for a Sunday roast. In management terms, Eddie Howe is between Wilder and "Mikel" (who I assume to be the manager of Arsenal).

The joke is about "being relegated."

He/Rambo is one of the best wind-up merchants. It makes him/Rambo a better player as he is liable to make mistakes. He/Rambo has difficulty to concentrate. Abuse switches Rambo on. On his/Rambo's debut for Chesterfield he "chucked two in" and received abuse.

Rambo talks much more about Ingerland and his recent game at L**ds, than about his time at the Blades (except for what has already been reported).

"Mikel" has said he/Rambo is one of the better ones/goalies because he/Rambo doesn't give a toss. But then Dean Henderson (given his absolute professionalism while at Sheff Utd) really screwed it up for him/Rambo, the quality of Henderson being the reason why he/Rambo was a stinking bag of nervous shit for Sheff Utd.

In regard to social media its all about him/Rambo (and very badly advised).

In conclusion: Ramsdale is a first rate tosser.

Not sure I can sit through over an hour of this podcast.

The biggest takeaway I got from that was the bit where he said that someone behind the scenes here told him that ‘we didn’t ask you to take a pay cut when you were conceding goals’

What a wank thing to say to a 22 year old goalkeeper, especially when it’s not ONLY his job to stop the goals going in. My money is on this statement coming from Bettis.

Don’t blame Ramsdale for wanting to go & someone at this club was playing him for a twat & it backfired.
Whoever it was who said it,that's a great way to attract young talented footballers to our development club, and also to keep the ones we already have here, them knowing that they can be held responsible for any individual or even collective team mistake and it might affect any contract talks, plus agents hearing stuff like this and steering their players towards clubs with less clowns in their off pitch staff.

Good summary.

I don't think Ramsdale is a bad bloke. He's still young, a bit immature & I think recent performances and the media hype have gone to his head. He's coming across as a bit arrogant and his comments (and actions) around us don't reflect well on him. He will grow up eventually and be a decent enough lad, you can see that he's likeable.

That being said, I really do think Dean Henderson is a far better goalie and has a lot more strength in character. He may not be as popular with the lads and media as Ramsdale, but his confidence in his ability and his determination to get to the top (soon on top) are rare and admirable. Where Ramsdale wilted under pressure, I always remember how Henderson would come roaring back after a (rare) mistake. It's in this that I see his top (very top) level potential.
The only area Ramsdale is superior in is with his feet, something DH does need to work on.

Henderson needs to get out of that basket case of a club ASAP to realise his full potential. I've no doubt he has the ability and mindset to be England's number 1 for a generation.

Although I may be by writing this post continuing this subject ,enough has already been said about the piece of shit. It’s time to forget about Ramsdale and hope his career starts to go into a deep decline.

It was his Dad.

His uncles brother is a great friend of mine and watched Rammer at shirecliffe.
And ill be in the hotel before and after the game at the lane.
Chatting with anyone n everyone

Not his dad but either a family friend or an uncle. Doesn't really matter either way, he's gone and will be posting his inane bollocks on Arseweb or whatever their main forum is now.

We are a fickle bunch really in my opinion.

If it's not about talking about "Wilder leaving via the backdoor" were now wishing Ramsdale's career goes tits up because of this interview.

Reality with Ramsdale is that he would certainly have wanted a move to Arsenal. Why wouldn't you when your in his position and not a blade?
He's young but had a season where he came good for the 2nd half, but throughout the season at least on social media was told he wasn't good enough by our own fans.
Arsenal come in for him and lets be fair here it's a move you can't turn down, not just for the money but the opportunity to play at a higher level.

Club reject the offer and yeah he mentions about that normally when this happens the club discuss a new contract.
This is very much the case whether you like it or not. If we saw him as a prized asset we surely would have opened up discussions. Fact was we needed to sell.
Perhaps what the club should have said to Ramsdale was that Arsenal's bid might not be far off the valuation so we see the transfer potentially going through?
Then again his agent would probably speak to Arsenal to tell them this....

Whoever told him about "we didn't ask you to take a paycut whilst your performances weren't good last season" is very much out of line too and doesn't show the club in good light. I'd also be concerned about players being put off coming because of it, but that is maybe a bit extreme.

But all of this. It's just the way of the transfer/contract in football world. It's not great and I'd love it to change because the numbers involved are obscene too but he's not really done much wrong.

And that gives him the right to refuse to play?

In his own words he & his agent was speaking to Arsenal about a deal and stopped when he went into the England camp. That is either the last week in May or the 2nd week in June, as he was part of the 33 man squad, didn't make the cut and then came back after Hendo's injury.

The PL season only ended on the 23rd May. Do the maths. Hardly the action of a player committed to the cause.

He then threw his toys out of the pram when we didn't roll over and let Arsenal tickle are tummies, and then threw a few more out when we wouldn't offer him a pay rise (how many teams relegated from the PL offer pay rises the next season in the champ?!?). He then thought the best course of action was to refuse to play on the 18th August . All the while Uncle Fucknuckle was on here talking absolute nonsense.

And all this bollocks of him winding Leeds fans up like it's clever, if someone had stepped out of the South Stand to confront him, he would've soiled himself.

And that gives him the right to refuse to play?
Think I'd be pretty pee'd off if my employers said that I'm fortunate they didn't ask me to take a paycut for my performances a several months ago, yet another bigger company think I'm good enough to work at a higher level and are willing to pay me more.
You'd probably want to force the move...

In the real world you just resign and work your notice of course, in the football world to force moves through it's basically about downing tools.

2nd or 3rd goal Arsenal scored, as the camera covered the Arsenal players celebrating, starting just outside the goalmouth and slowly heading towards the corner flag, it caught a Leeds supporter in the background, he came from behind the goal, followed the players all the way across all while pointing and screaming, the next goal Arsenal scored, the ref cut their celebrations short and moved them away,,think it was very, very close to kicking off, either the ref had seen what happened or a message had been passed on

So what? ALOT worse has been said about him from fans than that off the cuff comment Bettis (I assume) made. We never said he couldn't leave either, we just wanted the right price for him.

You sure you are a Unitedite?

Most definitely! Always will be, it's my joy and burden, depending on how we are doing!

Well we don't know if the club did say this or just that the bid had been rejected. Presumably we didn't otherwise he wouldn't have asked about a wage change?

I wouldn't be so sure it was Bettis. I mean it might have been but wouldn't rule out Yusuf or the Prince either.

CPB,

On the understanding that an online forum is about sharing opinions, I would like to ask you two questions:

1. How do you think Billy Sharp reacted to Ramsdale's interview with Ben Foster, and as a follow on, does Ramsdale's interview cause disquiet or disruption within United's first team squad or not?

2. How many millions do you think Arsenal will demand or want if/when Real Madrid or PSG start asking Arsenal about the availability of Rambo?

With appreciation and anticipation,

Teofilo

Don't hold your breath will waiting for an answer

So Ramsdale has stated he had guidance from Arteta which was invaluable in the transfer and he was adamant he wanted him, so must have been in contact before it was agreed.

What are the rules now on speaking to players under contract and not on the transfer list?

Still very unhappy that a player would refuse to train and play in an important league match.

All his utterings really don't reflect well on him.

Tapping up a player is fine these days.

Back to his old self, positioning totally wrong and a trickling shot from the edge of the d goes straight into the middle of his goal, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Shhh!!!! we need the extra 6million we are due!

Unlucky Rammers... no one could have stopped that shot... better luck next time. 👏
