We can speculate about those answers as much as we want, but the only parties who will likely ever see this information are Boro and the EFL.

Boro have used 26 players in the League this season. 3 of these have since left on loan or been sold. There are 2 others without minutes in the League but are over 21.

That gives a recognised first team squad count of 25.

14 are needed to fulfil the fixture, including 1 of those 3 goalkeepers.

If no more than 2 of those keepers are positive, the game should still go ahead unless 9 outfield players also test positive. However convenient it is, the numbers aren't ridiculous.
It’s down to the EFL to do their due diligence then?

It’s off then isn’t it? 🤦‍♂️😂😂

Tryimg to look on the positive from this. Firstly Boro are on amazing form and you could argue us not playing them now without a game for so long and them on a really good run could benefit them even with the rest we've had. It's not ideal for us to have so long without a game and then to play one of the form teams in the league. Secondly, as others have said, it gives longer for Brewster and potentially MGW to recover. Still gutted as we all are and if seems very odd as they were fine last night and now they're not.

There's no fucking positives whatsoever! Make the fuckers play!

Let's look at this way:

The morning after the Fulham win we were 11th, 3 pts off the playoffs and on the same games.

On Saturday night we will be max 1 or 2 places lower (if Blackpool beat Hull) and no more than 7 pts off the playoffs BUT with 2, 3 or 4 games in hand on every team above us.

We've also only played 10 home games so far, fewer than everyone else (3 have played 13). Granted our away form is better so far this season, but if we do anything this season we'll need to be strong at home and with 14 home games in 15 weeks the chance to build momentum is definitely there.

We also don't have to go away to any of the current top 4 in the second half of the season.

Thai has Wilder‘s finger prints all over it, his last little bit of revenge on the Prince, he really is turning into Warnock mark 2. I lost a lot of respect for him with his bizarre press conferences towards the end of his tenure when he ranted about ’lefties’ and reminisced about his away days in the 80s with his racist mate, This would finally seal the deal for me .. he’s not a Sheffield United fan … he’s a Chris Wilder fan.

If there is another 2 or 3 weeks like the last 2 or 3 where around 30% of the games go ahead then the league is in trouble due to there only being 4 weeks between the seasons. Players will go to the PFA if they have such a short break so not sure extending the season is do able.

Don't forget cases are going UP as well, which means more footballers contracting it.

These games are killing us. Look at Bournemouth. Miles ahead now.

Yet if we'd have been trading wins with them over the period in games I think we'd be winning right now, QPR home, Hull home and Preston away, we'd be 8 points off.

Which just goes to show what a fucking seismic abomination that refereeing performance was at their place. 1-0 with the only legitimate goal in the game and that 8 points would be 2 points with them still to come to the Lane.

But it's all ifs and buts now, firstly because of that total wankstain Robert Jones who refereed it down there and now because of all these convenient covid cry babies who we will have to face when we're playing 3 games in a week and absolutely shagged.

They should come back and review properly and just say we've have a check, you're all a set of fucking cowards. 3-0 to any game postponed. Credit to Millwall, won the other day and put a 15 year old on the bench. Hard luck but credit to Blackpool who equalised in added time and then lost in added time to Boro, having filled the bench with youths.

Same Boro who are now 'discussing with the EFL'. Please tell them to just get on with it. It's like they've had a good run and now fancy taking stock after they've strengthened in the JTW. Tell them to get lost. Sheffield United should be compensated. If you are the team not responsible for the forfeit then the other team should be penalised. Be they wearing the costs if they are not the home team or not being permitted to play any players who were otherwise unavailable through non-covid or signed afterwards.

It's just being abused now and if teams now, fully aware of the virus, are not taking measures then it serves them right if they have to play the U18s. They have been warned. They are aware draconian measures are needed. If they are not taking them, then they should bare the consequences.

I said it on the day QPR cried off when the had their 4 best players injured it is bollocks every club is at it now and the EFL have lost control. Four teams have cried off with Covid (how convenient) just as they are about to play in form Sheffield United. The season has become a farce, may as when draw lots to see who is promoted and relegated. That now means we have to fit in four extra midweek games we will be playing 3 games a week like Rotherham had to do last season it bollocks.

Agree with everything you say. But wasnt Rotherham the ones who were calling games off due to Covid?? Not saying it wasnt genuine as it did them no favours in the end.
Surely if we’re not calling games off then we should be given a bit of grace from the EFL??
Maybe best if we get knocked out of FA Cup at Wolves & hope Hull & Boro do as well. Then rearrange one of fixtures for 4th round weekend.

Blackpool v Hull so far going ahead on 1st Jan yet only 3 days earlier Hull could not fulfill a game against the Blades, is the isolation period greatly reduced? More likely the players fancied a few days off over Xmas.

Only have to look at last night as an example of a team having an advantage by being in form and match fit vs a team that's had an extended period without competitive action.

However it also has to be taken in to account that Wednesday are wank so it's not the most accurate hypothesis.

If its cancelled also give them chance to bring in new players as transfer window will be open. Apparently interested in Aaron connelly from Brighton

Blackpool also played Boro less than 24 hours before Boro’s ‘outbreak’.

Don’t blame wilder, don’t blame boro this down to the efl and their response weeks ago which set the precedent. Really poor.
Partially agree, but Boro/Wilder are using the excuse. We haven’t, despite the precedent being set. Millwall didn’t. Blackpool didn’t.

Agree that this would be more disadvantages to Boro at present as they are on a real roll.

All these postponed games could be a real leveller for teams with injury problems. Crikey - Jack O'Connell will be back at this rate.

All the postponements may only store up problems however.

Millwall played the other night with only 4 subs and one was a youngster, everybody can get a team together for a match day, it’s getting ridiculous now, If Boro were playing Blackpool on Saturday they wouldn’t call it off.
I just checked this all of that is wrong. They had a there usual bench plus 1 youngster.

Whilst I can see your reasoning, Champers - we don't know how careful re. measures and precautions Boro or any other side have been. We also don't know how thorough the EFL are when asking for grounds for postponement.

It does feel all too convenient, it also feels frustrating - as you say, I'd fancy us to win those 3 fixtures and then give Boro a good go.

If though, the prevalence is increasing as it seems, I'd be of the opinion that the whole season probably needs postponing for the time being, rather than "chucking the kids at it". Wellbeing would become key.

If this carries on, I’d be in favour of the club pushing to suspend the season until the cases calm down. Regardless of what people’s thoughts on COVID as a whole are, this is getting into the territory of impacting the integrity of the league.

Its fucking ridiculous and through no fault of our own its going to impact us further down the line.
Sorry mate , it's dem Blade's way - any bizarre circumstance which might be knocking around the 92 , from sex-change Chairmen to Tevez , will land on us - you must know that by now.
