Yes and the FA rules state that a game called off by local authorities means 3-0 win for the away team. Here the game was forbidden by the local mayor. If it turns out this way it would bring us back to 5 points but the FA has never in it’s history made a decision in our favor so chances are slim. Would bring back some hope though, now with a home game against struggling Oostende and the winter transfer period about to start. There are some rumors we are in for 2 attacking players but will need to see it to believe it.
That sounds a bit like when covid came in and all the teams at the bottom were voting for the season to be null and void!

But if they are the rules then they are the rules.

It would at least out you within 2 wins of making things interesting. You still time where 3 wins in a busy week can save you.

2 games without fans following the derby incidents. Think tomorrow will still be with fans in the stadium.

Beerschot are presently on hes...........goal now.

Coulibaly not in the first team or on the bench - perhaps after what Hecky said at the press conference, he's been pulled from games totally to come over in January?

2-0 down at HT. They look as fucked as the 20/21 us.

This hesgoal stream is funny - sounds like cameraman is letting some high pitched, prolonged rippers out.

Coulibaly has had a poor season on a club that sits at the bottom of the league. Would he look any better the tough Championship.

Standard is woeful. If I was Belgian and liked football I’d emigrate.

Beerschot fans now singing “we’ve got/lost the ball” 🤣

Well PurpleRain that was pretty poor.

I didn't think Oostende were much either but at least they scored.

I only caught the second half. So I missed the goals so some of these comments might be a bit off.

I thought Vanhammel looked ok. His distribution was accurate and intelligent both with his throwing and his feet. Made a smart save from an overhead kick.

I thought the right back, Halaïmia got forward well but his decision making was poor. One time he chose to shoot across goal from an impossible angle when there were players waiting on the 6 yard line.

The guy who played left back, no 2, Van de Bergh, I'm guessing he's not a left back. A lot of play came down his side. He had little idea how to progress the ball up the touchline other than just hammering it the way he was facing.

I thought the central defence Bourdain and Radic looked wide open and we're lucky not to give up more goals, though they were given so little protection by the midfield so maybe that's a little unfair. The sending off was a bad tackle. I thought he got a bit of the ball, maybe he did, but he also got the guy above the ankle. Ridiculous challenge really when you consider you had 15 minutes with one man superiority. To hand that advantage back almost immediately was incredibly naive.

In midfield, there was little creativity and the amount of times the ball was lost when under no pressure or they just ran into trouble was simply inviting pressure. Dom had a shot which sailed over and looked tidy but not much more.

Holzhauser looked miles better than the rest and clearly needs help. At 6'4", what a waste that he is the one taking all the set pieces when there is no threat in the box. I can't see him being there next year unless he is so settled and does not wish to move.

Up front I only saw Noubissi and Shankland really that made an impression. Noubissi maybe could have had a penalty for a shirt pull though it would have been soft, you've seen them given. He just kept killing the attacks though by getting caught offside all the time. Shankland at least got in a position to get efforts on goal and had a shot and a header saved but both were dealt with by the keeper. I thought he would be more of a threat at that level.

Overall disappointed, because Oostende were not really that much of a threat but given it was already 2-0, there wasn't much need to be. They guy who was sent off Fortes was an idiot. He ought to get a long ban for the time it took him to accept his punishment and leave the field of play.

I don't know whether it's nerves or you have players missing but that team of players is going down. Never really had the conviction in attack that they'd score. The style of play seemed to lack much of a pattern. The ease with which players turned over possession in dangerous areas was shocking not mention punting it hopefully up front with no real presence to aim for.

Not sure what the coach's style is meant to be, and I know he's been at quite a few clubs as a firefighter but that team probably needs high turnover of players in the summer and a fresh start.

Preferred my analysis.

So what has caused the demise of Beerschot this season?

btw...Many belgian league games can be found on dazn, if anyone has iptv. Watched the USG v Cercle game last night, fantastic own goal in the 90th min by cercle to gift a 3-2 win the USG, who game from 2-0 down. Good atmosphere as well all in a stadium with only 1 stand covered.

That’s a great analysis Champagne. You know your football. Fancy a job as technical director at Beerschot? Would be an immense improvement on Van Winckel.
Van Winkle seems to be a bit of running theme in terms of incompetence he was run out of town here under wilder after a bit of an internal power struggle.

The demise started already last season when in the winter transfer period they sold our best attacking player Tissoudali for peanuts. He is now the best attacking player in the whole league and we have no attacking player that can make a difference. We are a team with zero attacking threat and that has drained the confidence of the few other players that have the required level.

Did they do that because he wouldn't sign a new deal and his contract was running out? Did he want to leave or were they not offering enough money to renew?

United World seem to have got themselves into the same position with Ilyas Chouaref at Chateauroux, who it seems they tried to move to Beerschot without success.

As a fan we only know what we can read in the papers. Upon leaving Tissoudali said he wanted to stay but the board came very late in action to offer him an improved deal and by that time he already agreed terms with Gent. Huge mistake. But then they had 6 months time to find a replacement for the new season. And end of august when the season was well under way they signed Shankland who is a completely different striker and with doubts if he is good enough for 1st division since he only made a real impact at Scottish 2nd division level. We now know the answer. Very poor scouting.

It does seem that the criteria in some circles is that provided you've held Bielsa's jacket while he went for a piss this apparently lifts you to God-like reverence in terms of your football knowhow.

There seems to be plenty of blokes living off the reputation of having put the cones out Bielsa; Van Winkel, Torrente.

I do hope for Beerschot's sake the next manager comes on merit rather than the reference of Bielsa being enough. It's not as if Bielsa is without his troubles as his current team takes an array of thrashings.

Wow. Best player sent off at 0-3 too.

That's rough.

Wonder how many games he's banned for. Kind of ruins the next few matches too.

The midfield of what I saw isn't built to protect the back 4 at all.

Some heads should roll for what is happening at Beerschot. And not only some players but is obvious that as a club / team they have been seriously mismanaged. They need a big clear out and to start again next season with a brand new squad and new management with funds being provided to allow the new manager to give it a real go in trying to get them to bounce back. Might be better if it's someone not in any boardroom clique too so not any of the Princes right hand men.

Lowlights of the match:

(Am I ok to put links to YouTube, Foxy ? Apols if not).

Some of the defending. For the second one, the 44 Lemos was inches away from giving away a corner, then just passed it straight to their guy, easy lay off, goal. The goalie was not really at fault until number 7 which was a howler but I suppose better you make it in a game losing 6-0 already than in one where you're defending a goal lead.

I just don't know where they go other than a total reboot. They also can't score.

I think maybe three at the back and a defensive midfielder at the least to start to be hard to beat.

It seems Holzhauser went totally off the page to drop into the back 4 to try and help out and then picked up a red. So they are now minus him for a game at least.

If they got the game award for the postponement they'd still only be 7 adrift then, but they need some radical new blood in January even if that is just to plan for the next campaign.

What must be frustrating is that the recruitment has been so ineffectual. It really can't be that expensive to run a successful team in the Belgium leagues.

But dragging forwards from far and wide seems fantasy stuff. Spending 1.5m on a striker who has never played outside of Japan at 26 and hoping he comes good in Belgium and then pairing him with another guy who doesn't know the league (Noubissi) and hoping they will come good is straight out of the Championship Manager computer game.

Why not get an experienced Belgium spine to the team at least? Or a core of Flemish/Dutch speakers? Tap into the youths that get released from Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV etc.

They hired a Scot, a Croat, a Greek, a Bolivian, an Ecuadorian, a Uruguayan, a Senegali, a Ghanaian and an Englishman and then hired an Argentinian coach tl blend it all together after they'd already made a dreadful start. 10 different nationalities and hoping to somehow make a team of that.

Bizarre beyond belief. When we were successful we had a huge core of home players and so should they in my opinion and sprinkle that with the odd foreign talent who may need a little time to adapt. But so many from all corners of the Globe? If this is Jan's plan then he's dreaming if he thinks this pans out well without at least a core of good enough local players.

They don't play now until 16th of Jan. I hope for their sake they get to move some staff around because 7-0 is a serious low point.

Thanks for the comments, it helps put things in perspective. Like stated there are way too many nationalities and loan players. You can’t form a team on that basis. And most importantly there is a lack of quality and a lack of investment. Hope they start with the overhaul of the squad next week with 4, 5 outgoings and 4, 5 players with experience in Belgium. They need to stop bringing in foreign unproven players.

Any rumours around Van Winkle surfacing over there purple? It would seem you need a clear out at board level and some fresh faces and new ideas bringing in use the rest of this season to start to lay the foundations for next year.

Van Winckel has not been seen at the club in months. He lives in Dubai and that’s part of the problem. A technical director should be at the club on a daily basis. Everything is run from distance. We seriously lack know how in the club since the departure of Losada last winter.

Yeah I don’t see how you can operate under those circumstances.

Think of the oddballs we've had on the payroll since the Prince took over, who was the former fenerbache??? Hooligan Where's he now and what did he actually do???

Was he an advisor, on how to trigger a flare attack, if so we've been OK with that for years...

(I can hear the disapproving moans already)
