You normally dismiss Berge based on his contribution over his time at the lane.
I ask you to look again at the circumstances surrounding his contribution, or lack of. He is still a quality player. He has gone through a long spell with serious injury for the first time in his career. That would mess with anyones head. He and the manager need to make his comeback steady and cautious, until he can impose himself with confidence.
Right now he is a blades player on a decent long term contract. It is said he has expressed a desire to leave, but not made a big fuss about it.
One of two things will happen next. He gets a run in the team, attracts acceptable bids, and leaves
either in January or next summer. Let’s not forget, he is still under contract and the club can play hardball like they did with Ramsdale.
The alternative is, his development is slower, and he stays, becoming a key player for Sheffield United.
If his serious injury has not blighted his career, he will enjoy a long career at a high level. I like to think he is the same positive, intelligent and likable. young man that came to us so long ago. I wish him all the best, wherever his future lies.
