If anyone on here was drinking outside the Scholar or knows of anyone who was at about 7pm last night when my mate was knocked down by a taxi, can I just thank all those blades who came across to help before the ambulance arrived and were of enormous assistance. It was greatly appreciated.

Yes mate, he's battered and bruised and with a dislocated thumb and concussion. But considering he was thrown up in the air and back onto the bonnet and down, god knows what could have happened.

Who was it mate? I was in the Scholar and left a couple of minutes before it happened.

I was inside when it happened, came out and police and paramedic was on scene and thought some trouble had kicked off then realised what had happened. Glad to hear he is fine heard rumours that the taxi went through red/amber?

99% of taxi drivers that I've had the displeasure of sitting with show a total disrespect of every highway code rule going. Not uncommon to be taken at 50-60mph up city rd of an evening when they can get away with it.

Don't think a complete disregard to the highway code is the sole preserve of taxi drivers, mind you it does sound like accident was a classic example of someone amber gambling!

Talking of compo ,my mates 2 kids were on the faiground ride that collapsed at skeggy last week. Thankfully they were unhurt but he has been inundated with lawyers seeking compo for him. They are talking tens of thousands.

The junction of London Road and the bottom of Cemetery Road is always hairy after a game. I know that's a few yards down from the accident, but I always walk that route and have seen plenty of near misses. :(

Yeah I saw you actually, I was at the back having a fag. I was going to come over but got talking to someone else then I reckon you'd left.

It's alot better in the Scholar this season, loving the table footy they have put in there tho not had the chance to go on it. Seemed a bit lively over in that corner after the game and with the decentish weather we stayed out the back.
