I know we dont want to talk about Brighton today, but they have 3 players available that I'm sure Championship teams will be looking at; Baldock, Hemed, Skalak.

Wages always an issue but they'd be good signings for anyone at our level.

DCL would be ok, but wouldn't be my first pick. Hogan not worth the financial package, and a big yes to Gallagher from me.

Last season stats:

32 games, 5 goals, 7 assists. A fair few of those were from the bench. The expectation would be that he'll improve this season.

On the one hand, he gives us something we haven't got. A bit of pace and decent in the air. He doesn't score that much but does create as well. Everton were a shitshow in attack last season, so hard to judge.

On the other, he seemed like a player, like Brooks, who wouldn't fit into the way we play.

I certainly wouldn't be unhappy if he came on loan.

That’s actually not to bad - they were hardly expansive under big Sam. I’d expect him to have improved and score goals for us. He’s got presence and some pace so would be a new dimension. Seems to make sense all round.

Do I think he’s get 20 goals - no. Would be be a good option - possibly if we are exploring loan options.

Not if you look at the bigger picture, which was we needed to bring some money in to finance signings like JOC, Fleck, Duffy, Clarke etc. These signings ultimately got us out of League 1, personally I don't think we would have if we'd be relying on DCL to score the goals alongside Billy without the midfield his ale helped create.

I'm not a fan of bringing on other teams players for them, unless we have negotiated a price if we want to keep them.
But of all the names bandied around for a striker this is easily the best option and I'd rather us do this than blow too much cash on Hogan, Gallagher, Eisa etc None of whom look remotely as good as what we have already. Having said that looking at Everton's squad, unless they are signing players post WC they do not have the strength to let DCL go. Perhaps the rumour for this has arisen from taking another Everton youngster on loan...I could speculate, there would be 2 options the English Sambou or the NI Lavery, neither of whom I know the slightest thing about.

He doesn't score a lot of goals. Given the poor contribution we get from midfielders and wing backs the last thing we need is a striker who's good for 7 or 8 a season tops, which is all that DCL seems to have in him.

In Billy Sharp's previous spells, it appeared he wasn't a 20-goal-a-season-man. Playing a part in 12 PL league goals under Sam Allardyce, where there are less game played than in the Championship, he would do very well indeed.
