Good move for him that, hell be wasting away at Everton if he doesn't move fairly soon.

Can’t wait for the weekly meltdowns when the lad lives in London and can wear his photography studio “Garms” in everyday life

I don't think it will ward off sales. The owners have more or less said it's not about the football anymore. They're in this to claw back as much as possible.
We’ll see I think we certainly need to trim the squad but what happens with the couple of highly touted youngsters will tell us everything.

Doesn’t matter if it isn’t so long as it wards off sales.

As long as we don't sell Basham or Egan. Anyone else I wouldn't be too bothered, unless it's multiple players in the same position.

If we sell any of the kids off now for what would be cheap compared to their value in a few years then alarm bells would start ringing for me.

Fuck me talk about 2+2 =5

CM: The owners have more or less said it's not about the football anymore...

FTT: No they haven't

Stephen Bettis, CEO: Heckingbottom won't be judged on what happens on a Saturday afternoon.

Hmm.

Bettis isn't the owner ,he works for the club
They said a lot of things in that press conference but none of what you said

I've literally quoted directly what Bettis said.
Bettis is the CEO, the highest ranking representative of the owner. If you don't think he speaks for them then you must have very little understanding...

What do you think was meant by "he won't be judged on what happens on a Saturday afternoon..." You must have come to a different conclusion to me so I'm interested to know..

It certainly doesn’t mean that the owners are done with football and that they’re looking to claw back as much money as they can.

It means he is responsible for the entire football operation from.first team.to academy
How could you not understand that ?
Plus it's just a quote in a press conference
Sometimes people say things in those forums that don't turn out to be true ,why do you believe it's gospel ?

Bettis is a terrible public speaker. He looks terrified any time a camera is pointed at him, and he likely mixes up his words accordingly.

Within the context of everything else that was said at that presser, what he clearly meant was that Heck wouldn’t be judged “just” by results, or by results “alone”, because his brief is much wider and longer term.

If anything, it makes it more of a challenge, and even less of a free pass: “We’re giving him all of this to deal with; so [implicitly] he will be held to account for it all“.

Within that context, it does suggest he might be given time to do stuff. But that is a long way from “we don‘t care whether he wins games”.

(🐍 though, obvs).

Citation, please.

I tried to a post or two later..

I have a more pessimistic view of the owners (& board) than many others & I accept that.
My interpretation of Bettis' comment was that it was a Freudian slip, that the club's ambitions have gone and that the Prince has hired a 'Yes man' as part of his own exit strategy.

However, ShockingBadBuy 's interpretation of the same comment (above) is well balanced. We'll see in the future who's correct on this lot.

Newcastle supposedly interested. Assume sell-on’s don’t expire? It’s been a while 😅
