Billy wasn't happy with 'the other manager'

I see him as Wilderesque in his passion, love of the club and ability to motivate players. He might need a ‘Knill’ beside him unless he is more tactically astute than I think.
He’ll need time and experience to learn that side of things

I said earlier in the week that it was much easier to change the manager than to change half a dozen players. If the board weren't going to back Slav then why they appointed him will be a mystery. I still feel the way some players downed tools was unacceptable and still hope to see several being shown the door.

It did feel a bit like an ill fit. Never likely to be long term. All of that can translate into performances over time. I’m completely with Beans and Roygbiv in that I can’t remember being this agnostic towards any manager, I really felt nothing about his tenure at all, which is odd. I also liked seeing SM and JL flanking PH in the technical area. It felt like a coaching team.

I must have missed the bit where he criticised the previous manager and I was listening out for it
mate, you made me go back and re-watch it ;)

very closely along the lines of...

Said that he told the previous manager that 'standards in training not what they should be and they lead to the game'

Mentioned Wilder ('the manager two managers ago') demanding individual standards, which is what has been missing so far this season....then 'hopefully we can get there now quicker than it has so far this season'

And plenty of body language.

How could anyone possibly have been happy with "the other manager"? We've suffered under several duds in charge at BDTBL over the years so you'd think by now we'd have learnt how to spot another one pretty early. Fortunately, this time at least, the owners knew they had to get shut fast. Usually the fans are quicker on the uptake but I think possibly Brexit and the pandemic have both taken their toll......

None of the players could, and that was the problem.
I meant with players he had at other clubs who were used to playing 442
While our club has been set up from underage to first team to play a certain way
And it gave us the football we saw under Slav
Stoke at home and Bournemouth away being the 2 exceptions

Reading between the lines, he’s very critical of Jokanovic. Makes you wonder if he’d spoken to the owner regarding his concerns.
I think so too. For example from 2:30 along with the wry smile, he mentioned that "two managers ago" (i.e. under Wilder) there was a lot of emphasis on player expectations/pulling their weight.

It’s easy to judge with hindsight but it always felt like Slav had no time for players who needed motivating. You either did what he wanted or you get binned off….except he couldn’t bin anyone off as he wasn’t able to so just kept rotating the team.

It’s clearly not what this group, whose confidence was on the floor, needed. No word in the ear of players being subbed off, never on the pitch at full time. Felt like his heart wasn’t in it.

Couldn’t make the match today but looking at the highlights they looked the part on the touch line today. In many ways it makes far more sense to try and unlock that rather than chuck more money we haven’t got at it. The real question mark over Slav should be why did we hire him in the first place, rather than why did we get rid of him.

He tried speaking to Yusuf but he said “fuck off Bill, I’m not from Sheffield and I know fuck all about football, now I’m off, leave me alone”

Team game
Manager sets tempo and standards
Have to work with what you have
Whole needs to be greater than sum of its parts
Only game plan I could see before is get the ball to an individual that can do summat with it.
No plan
No style
No steel
Soft as shit
No identity
Players weren’t all spent.
Called it weeks ago

Fucking Pilchard
