Chairman's statement on the Heckingbottom appointment

He has never been chairman so far as I'm aware. Certainly hasn't been for some considerable time.

Owner, yes.

Ah so the owner is slinging his hook effectively, the manager wont be judged on results - I have visions of Hecky going to the chairman office like that scene off Mike Bassett lol

The Newcastle thing is likely true. Why would PA want to continue owning a club he can't be seen to be associated with? Football clubs are ultimitely a vanity project for wealthy individuals and I don't see what he gets from owning us if he's ushered into the shadows.
So where does that leave us , no owner , no money , no buyer , seems we are in some kind of limbo if this Saudi/Newcastle thing is the reason !

What has Newcastle got to do with any of this?

Can someone explain what we have got to do with Newcastle all of a sudden?
both teams are essentially owned by Saudi royalty, although In Newcastle's case it is through an investment arm. It was said there could be a problem with them owning 2 teams. I have no idea if it's true.

which is completely fine, but the club have invested in a bloke completely unproved for 3/4 years. I now see what other see & we’re in bad hands. I don’t disagree with sacking Slav. Watford a team planning for premiership continuity would have done it….but Heckingbottom on a 3/4 year deal I can’t digest

Since Newcastle have been taken over by the Saudi's. Apparently that causes a major conflict of interest with PA owning us. Since Newcastle essentially are now owned by Saudi Arabia, it is likely that PA can't be seen to be running a football club. Hence why the announcement today that we will hear nothing else from PA from now on.

Speculation obviously but its odd that PA has gone from doing fan podcasts to suddenly taking a complete back seat from everything.

Doesn't explain the sacking of Slav though. Isn't it just more likely he knows he knows will take a lot of heat for his recent decision making as owner and is removing himself from the line of fire?

He has taken loads of shit over the years, he probably got worse during the Adkins and Clough era.

Good updates here on the press conference its still going on. Some mind boggling statements. Apparently SJ was appointed before they had a written a strategic plan. When they'd written it he wasn't part of the plan!!

Bettis and PH will be the face of SUFC.

Abdullah Alghamdi is the CEO of United World and he keeps waffling on about SUFC being part of it. His reply to the JTW is classic bullshitting he could have just said theres no munneh.

A lot of Corporate speak from non footballing people. No -one has had the balls to ask why we will not be hearing from PA.

If the Prince has got any sense, of which I'm beginning to highly doubt, he'll sell up now whilst there's still value in the club.

If he waits 18 months until we're floating around the basement of the championship he'll have to take a loss.

I think this is part of a larger exit strategy on his part. Player sales next I would predict.

Board Member Abdullah Alghamdi on numbers

In terms of investment we are not in a hurry for today or tomorrow it's about the long term Sheffield United plan within the United World group.
January transfer window the cost of this change is potentially more than transfers in January this is more about the long-term plan
Not the next five or six windows the next five or six years to get us to a more solid plan as a group which will include investment in players and facilities

In other words no cash for January or the foreseeable future.

Has he been strong armed by the Saudi's to take a back seat?
I doubt it.

He either owns the club or he doesn’t. Just because he decides not to speak and/or to take a back seat will be of no detriment to his ownership.

The fact Newcastle are now owned by Saudis is either a problem or it isn’t. If it is to be an issue, then the FA should surely have not let the deal take place

What the actual reason is for taking this current stance, I’m not sure? Perhaps he’s off on his round the World tour to try and convince someone to buy the club? Who the fk knows?

When have the FA, PL or even the EFL done enough due diligence to stop a takeover?

No ins in January and he has faith in these players - gulp.

That is one of the most frightening quotes I've seen come out of the Lane since the Fax machine doesn't work.
The loans of Lopata and brunt until January rather than the end of the season are starting to make sense.

Get them match fit and then they're in the team from 1st January, probably so we can flog Egan and Ndiaye

Just read some of the statement from the news conference and this bit caught my eye -

"Paul will be the club's football manager

I am told that is not a title that will go down well here. I don't care, I am not from Sheffield and I am not a football man I am the chairman.

We are not going to discuss the plan here, the focus is on football.

Prince Abdullah has been the face of the club and will no longer be the case. You won't see much of me either."

seems like an admission that the coach and transfer committee has not worked out and Heckingbottom will be taking over much more of the club than Slav did. It also seems that the board wont be speaking much at all now. Does anybody else think this could be leading to them bailing out asap?
Big Roll Prince turned C**T
