One can only assume they were comparing it to somewhere other than Walsall ;)

London Road is a dump, plain and simple.

Hopefully you told them that although it is looking a bit past its best, it is in fact home to loads of excellent pubs and restaurants/takeaways etc. Shame Albion has shut down, and there are a few empty units which is par for the course, but if you include Lion and Bar27, Railway and Cricketers it really is hard to fauilt the area imo as a football fan who likes drinking and eating.

Have you been there for a few beers and a meal out?

Yeah, countless meals, countless sessions.
The area is a dump.

It does have some good restaurants, some good pubs (I certainly wouldn't incorporate bar 27 into that category BTW), but it doesn't take it away from being a dump.

Another example of decent pubs and the best indian in Sheffield is Spittall Hill.

Aye, if only we had a B and Q for a ground, just by a section of the M6 eh?

You're forgetting that picturesque railway shunting yard just by the stadium. Beautiful, just beautiful.

I really am staggered that you think the whole area is a dump but respect your opinion of course - fair enough. I see it as untidy yes (so what imo) but vibrant in comparison with many areas of may towns and cities.

Having lived on London Road, I will say that the further towards town you travel the dumpier it gets but I've certainly seen worse. I suppose the biggest problem is that it's all so close to the road with very little set back.

It is a dump really and tired looking plus not somewhere Id enjoy going every week.

That is not to say there isn't any decent pubs etc on there though.

It's no different to many other inner-city main arterial roads around the country in its appearance. Anyway, at least there is a bit of life in the area - unlike Walsall.

Fantastic road with some great restaurants and a few decent boozers. They should develop it into a Chinatown.

It is a dump, but it's a great dump.

Also a dump can have it’s own character it’s not just the buildings in an area it’s the history, people and many more things, Wait until they have to go to their next away match in Sheffield they will then see a real “ DUMP” and unsocial scum of South Yorkshire.

I like London Road - it's not even that much of a dump. Pop down to Seven Sisters Road if you want to see one of those.

One thing though: I miss Boatworld :(

I see your seven sisters road and i raise you Green Lanes, or Turnpike Lane. Epic dumps the pair of them.

Although Green Lanes recent remodelling by the hands of Wood Green youths may have improved it since the last time i was there.:)

London road is not bad at all to be honest, like most people have said it's abit untidy. at least there aren't too many derelict buildings and most of the restaurants on there are pretty nice. The last time I went to old trafford, for example, the area around there was a really big dump, a barren wasteland with one pub and a burnt out fatty arbuckles. The same as most out of town stadiums

I'm not sure. That bit near the Clarks Factory Shop is like someothing out of The Road. At least Green Lanes has some decent cafes on it (if memory serves me right).

Have you seen that 'bar' that's opened opposite Clarks? It's just in an old shop. Well grim.

Ah, Walsall. They were going to film "World War Z" there but once they'd had a quick look around thought it just looked too post-zombie-apocalypse for their liking. London Road and some of the surrounding areas may well look a little past their best, but at least they don't look like they've been overrun by the undead.

I'll give you Green Street E7. Dump from beginning to end and what caps it off is the Boleyn at one end!

Someone ought to make a movie about that

Walsall is a dump - they have revamped parts of it but someone from Walsall calling London Road a dump? - would have thought they were well at home there.

They did a telly series. "Location, Location, Location", also known as "Fuck where you want to live, unless there's mucho biscuits me and Phil are doing fuck all to help you move from this slum."

while on london rd , chatting to wallsaw fans, they suggested this area of our fine c ity is a bit of a dump, what could i say.

Take 'em out for a bit of sushi. The price / quality ratio is so good they'll forget the shabby pavements. :)

Oh yes. East London dumps dump all over North London dumps, I'll give you that. I used to live in Mile End :(

They used to before the gentrification of the East End started. Shoreditch, Hoxton, bits of Hackney, Bethnal Green (in parts) and Stratford have all got proper yuppified areas. Hoxton Square is posh as fuck, and Stratford has begun to be the same (coincided with me moving here - funny that! :D )

What you talkin about Stratford has always been posh .......... oh that Stratford - yeah S' hole!
