Lad now ruled out of next Scottish game (I doubt there will be two) with COVID so unlikely to get another chance to impress in the EUROS.

Play a dozen or so times for Chelsea in the last couple of years, but unlikely to be more than a bit player in cups with the midfielders they have.

Never had a loan. Presumably, Chelsea might want him to go out and get that experience. He could probably get someone at the bottom of the Premier League but wouldn't be a guaranteed starter. After Ampadu, worth throwing our hat into the ring for a season loan?

As others have said probably beyond us but he’s a lovely player.

Palace on loan

Yep.

If, and it's a big If, they send him out on loan this season then it's got Palace written all over it.

London club so no need to uproot the player and they've let about half their squad run down their contracts so need players.

If not Palace then I could see him ending up at any of the promoted clubs.

You might be right. He's only ever started 4 PL games though. In the same way other clubs have loaned to top end Champ teams, I reckon there's an argument he'd be better there for at least 6 month. Even if he's too good, if he has a great season at Palace but then not good enough to start for Chelsea it gives Chelsea a problem!

Why is Billy Gilmour “Premier League standard” after an handful of games? He won’t play 5 games in that same league next season either.

Exactly my thoughts.

I'm sick of hearing about him to be fair. I watched the game, the praise was grossly exaggerated, he was nowhere near as good as made out.

The RTE highlight reel showed him:

Fouling a player
Harrasing mount for 50 yards.... and mount still played a forward pass as the end of it.
5 or 6 Jordan Henderson style return passes.

It was workmanlike and efficient, but some of the fucking pundits were actually comparing him to Xavi!!!

Maybe end up at Brentford? A local loan for him and a team that plays good football.

Chelsea have a problem with loans, I think the number of loans you can loan to other PL clubs is 5, so once the top 5 players leave on loan your options are abroad or the Championship

Aston Villa (Ross Barkley),
Fulham (Ruben Loftus-Cheek),
Crystal Palace (Michy Batshuayi),
West Brom (Conor Gallagher)
Sheffield United (Ethan Ampadu)

Were last seasons PL loans

Conor Gallagher might be a possibility as well. I'd prefer him to be honest. I'm not sure he has done enough to warrant a PL loan but one of the promoted teams might take him on. I think he's ahead of Gilmour (as is Loftus-Cheek)

Chelsea had a lot of players out on loan this season and must need to get shut of a few.

Can’t help feeling ing we got the worst of the bunch there

He's had a torrid time at Norwich, 4 starts. I wonder if Chelsea would consider a loan across to us in the JTW?

He'd walk into our midfield atm

Would be a cracking addition to our squad. Can't see it myself given our inconsistency and table position.

Yeah was thinking the same, however, if we can practically guarantee a start in the Championship in a (hopefully) promotion chasing squad, we could increase his value by a fair whack (ala Brewster).

Just a thought anyway, i think Chelsea will be looking to recall him in Jan and i'd like us to be on the radar as a club who can provide 1st team football
