I’m starting to think that McBurnie may just in actual fact be

I thought he was very poor today. He looked so, so slow. Jags and Davies bullied him in the air. And the foul at the end was a horrible combo of laziness and being a dick.

But he 100% has a knack for finding space in the box. The air shot and the handball prove that. And he works well in tight spaces with players around him.

I think he'll continue to be a bit part player until Billy hits the fitness wall. Then we need him to step up because there's nobody else to do the CF role now Jebbo is out on loan. Just not sure he can.

Can I ask what billy sharp did in that 90 minute performance? Missed 2 sitters and was anonymous for the majority of the match

Genuinely baffling how you can come to the conclusion of slagging mcburnie off after that , he was about to head in the ball before the Derby player volleyballed it away

You mean aside from getting their keeper sent off and then scoring the winner. The two most pivotal moments in the game?

Nah, guess you're right. Sharp had a stinker.

We played into Jags and Davies strengths today banging it aimlessly into the box constantly, I mean even Billy outran that backline a few times, that was the key not the bloody crosses

Carlton we need a new striker who would you like to see.. realistic mate

Somebody with the pace to stretch defences but enough physicality to do a lot of the stuff Billy does.

I'd have kept Jebbison around and given him 20 minutes most games. After that? I honestly don't know but I'd guess someone on loan. Keinan Davis from Villa if he ever gets fit again. Tyler Roberts from Leeds?

Be honest pal I couldn't name somebody but if mouse gets fit he really could be the player but its a big if.

Carlton i have the up most respect for you but it's not all about goals its about what he brings to the team and overall result 👌

So by most accounts mcburnie comes on and does ok, nothing amazing but gets singled out for abuse. Do we need to do this every week? Happens even when he scores.
This is what happens when you get more and more of the Facebook types joining the forum it gets dragged down to the level of certain United FB and Twitter pages where all they do is run off their gobs.

I agree with the odd touch that he showed, but like you say he made a hash of that shot.

His position is generally off when a cross is played into the box, and for someone of his size he is poor and light weight in the air.

Showing some good touches is a minimum for a professional at the level we are trying to achieve, I’m not judging him on such minor detail, I’m judging him on his goal threat/goal return, of which is starting to look wank.

And I also made mention of the fact it’s another three points on the board for us, which is fantastic.

Glad that Enda came on the left too.

Under Slav we do seem to wip in the ball more than the last few seasons which were more about quick passes and overlaps to feet etc which then turned to side passes and mention no more. However with a whipped ball in as he showed against Southampton he is more than capable of getting on the end of it. It's also the ball crossers responsibility to pick out his run or area where he will be. Billy over the years has scored so many from one touches in the box because of being in the right place at the right time. McBurnie although has had plenty of game time over the couple of seasons he is a different type of striker. He has started to look alot better and more interested in the last few weeks and hopefully confidence is building.

What, as opposed to the intellectual and wordsmith that you are! Jesus wept, look at the first post that you managed on the topic. You fall into the very category that you are being condescending about.

He had opportunities today when the ball was whipped in and wasn’t in the right area for the most part. But like I say I’m hoping that he can come good, build some confidence and get the goals that we need him to.

Mostly criticism not abuse. I know its not that fair when we have won to be critical of players especially when its slagging off the likes of N'Diaye after like 4 or 5 professional football matches.

McBurnie on the other hand has cost us the best part of 20million quid and at times looks like he couldn't trap a bag of sand. I want all our players to do well and today wasn't his worst performance but its frustrating watching him play most of the time.

Maybe things will change but he much like Moose has been here long enough to show what he can do.

He offered nothing all game and missed two sitters

I’m not saying sharp is crap far from it , however if mcburnie puts that performance in he gets pelters

If McBurnie scores the winner and gets their keeper sent off then there's no way he's getting pelters. He didn't get pelters midweek when he played well. There isn't some massive agenda, McBurnie gets slated because he has no credit in the bank because he's usually poor.
People give Billy some leeway as he usually delivers, as he did today, last weekend and two weekends before that against Peterborough.

I'd love McBurnie and Brewster to come good. So would most fans. But they haven't and don't look as if they will. But they have time.

WANK.

I’ve backed him and defended him and really want him and Brewster to come good.

I even fancied him to grab one when he made his appearance, but he just looks so weak in the air.

I know he has a bit of a languid style. For the first time though today I did look at him and think “ maybe he is just wank” and it’s not going to happen for him.

Hope he can go on a bit of a scoring run for us. But maybe he is just wank.

Another three points today though.

The guy that's scored loads of headed goals?? 🙃🙃🙃

And that’s two stinkers in a row because at Hull all he did was score , earn us a penalty, block the defender trying to get to Egan for our second goal and be a constant thorn in the side of their defence ........

WTF do some people see ?

Being critical is fine, people can debate that. So many posts just consist of some "witty" play on his name, calling him a cunt, comparing him to a pub league player or some combination of the above. Its boring.
The people who don't like him fall into 3 categories
1. People who genuinely just don't rate him for us
2. People who think supporting any other striker than our lord and saviour Billy Sharp is a sin
3. People who took to hating him because of how he wears his socks and his accent.
2 and 3 make up at least half imo.

If mcburnie has failed so bad he would not have coat us near 20 Mill. He wouldn't have reached the add ons.

The notion he has never shown anything good for us is again just not backed up. Look at the motm votes on this very forum for his first season. Last year was a write off for everyone even though I seem to recall him having the odd good performance. This season he has not had the chance yet. The teams only just come good and creating and he is coming off the bench. He took his chance in the cup and still got slagged for the pen.

Sharp may well keep him out for the season but at the very least we have a player on our bench that would start in most teams 11 in this division.

There is a very vocal section of Blades fans who show their support and get behind him though and this was evident yesterday and in previous games.

Isn't to support and encourage our players part of why we are there? We have posters on here complaining about the tone of some chants and now some complaining about supportive ones. Really can't win can we? 😁

Here's what I don't understand... If i spent my life criticising or disliking my own team, I'd have to consider why I even like football.

We are called supporters because we support a team. Ok, sometimes we feel the need to be critical when discussing players etc... But some people enjoy doing the opposite of supporting.
