Player Suggestion Jack Wilshere

I'll post the same reply to this as I did to someone on Twatter who suggested the same.

Absolutely Not!

I watched a lot of football during lockdown (probably making the most of being single for the first time in 20 years) and saw him play for Muff a few times. Let's just say he did virtually nothing and had no influence on the games at all,. I wasn't at all surprised when he was released yet again. This time though it didn't seem to be fitness related just more the drop in performance levels after years on the treatment table.

It's a real shame as when he 1st burst on the scene I thought he'd be an absolute mainstay of the England midfield for over a decade probably.

Rodwell mk2 on bigger wages so a no from me thank you.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all played for muff before and been completely unsuccessful.

Any one’s opinion changed now that we are getting desperate. I’d take him on a pay as you play as fleck is really starting to piss me off
I’d take Jack Duckworth over the current crop of shite in midfield.

Smacks of a wilder project player m only Mcgoldrick worked out of those...
Desperate times. Technically gifted and will know how to play a 4-3-3 if SJ gets wingers in. Plus someone needs to give fleck some competition so he gets a kick up the arse

Worth a punt for sure. Sick of seeing other clubs getting decent loans/signings in then thinking 'oh, yea why didn't we think that'
Agreed. It’s not even like they’re signing unknown quantitys from abroad. The types of players our rivals are signing on loan is normally bread and butter for this recruitment.

Would have to be on very low wages base pay with incentives for minutes played but a 6 month deal on those terms would be very low risk

Absolutely, categorically, 100% not.

Whilst a structured/caveated deal would be low risk there's no upside. Another Ravel Morrison / Jack Rodwell - be a complete waste of time, energy and resources.

He'll get another club, probably play a few games but then will breakdown. 30 appearances in last 4 years, only played more than 30 leagues games in a season once in his career.

Its a shame, but sadly he's finished as a professional footballer at any meaningful level.

Wouldn’t be against signing him on deal until the end of the season.

Each to their own S64 but what have you seen from him in the last 3 years that would suggest he'd (a) be able to stay fit and (b) add value to the team? During that time he's played the grand total of 30 games and his last appearance was in May last year.

Not much at all, admittedly, as he’s not really played. But if we are ‘skint’ I think a low risk outlay on a short deal may provide the club more competition in the attacking midfield department.

There’s clearly a top player there, and Jack wouldn’t be able to rest on his laurels if his contract is done right.

Considering Andy Carroll is reportedly earning £1k a week at Reading, this wouldn’t be the worst signing in the world on a similar deal.

Don't forget the costs for an additional treatment table, doctor and physio that will be required for Carroll and Wilshire! :-)

Unless he's been reckless with his money, Wilshire should never have to work again - he certainly shouldn't have to relocate and spend most of his week at Shirecliffe for £1k/week.

Is there? When was the last time he demonstrated that?

Surely that cannot be true? 4 Grand a month?, he would get more than that playing at The Sty?

is he not joining arsenal on the sympathy contract for 6 months. ala Jose Baxter to Everton
