There's a rumour gathering pace on the Scunny forum Iron Brew that they want Boggy on loan until the end of the season with view to a permanent move.

Bulletin or bullshit?

He's been pretty decent when we've actually seen him! I wouldn't let him go out on loan for two reasons, them being that we hardly have any strikers as it is, and Scunthorpe are our relegation rivals.

Would be typical United to let it happen though. And he score a crucial goal in the last game of the season.

I remember when we loaned out Peter Withe to birmingham, we got their goalie (Roger Hansbury) both played in the game against of their clubs, we lost 2 - 0 at home. Withe got em both....

I'd love to see him given a long run for us. Not suprisingly, I think he looks infinitely superior to Evans.

He may have gone whilst Speed was in charge as probably would have the Argie but under Adams neither are going anywhere.

If the reality is that Adams has to sell to raise money for his main targets, maybe we shouldn't be surprised to see someone go. And we can't always chose which players other teams will want to buy. I thought he did quite well, even out of position against Aston Villa last weekend.

Agreed, but we've been really struggling to score goals. He looks, to me at least, to be one of the few who would get us goals. It would be nice to see us offload elsewhere, but you're right that others may not want and I'm stuggling to think of many. I think Quinn's time is up (I don't think he's as poor as many say, but a fresh start might be right) and, heaven forbid (:)), I think Monty might be ripe for a move.

Slew is no where near ready by all accounts. Boggy hasnt exactly pulled any trees up but is it really a wise move to let him go?

I think there'll be a striker coming in today, whether that's ALF or not who knows.

Now, considering we already have Evans, Bent, Cresswell, Boggy and Hendo to return; it would make sense for Boggy to leave, especially if we do get another striker. Would prefer Cresswell to go in all honesty, but I suppose he may do better under Adams than he did this season under Speed.

If someone else came in great but the usual tale is someone leaves at the last minute and its too late for us to get anyone in

Just reading the story on Sky Sports, and was surprised to learn he's only made 6 starts... to be honest, if he's only being used as a back-up then why not? We've just got in Benty, so we're hardly short... and if we were to need backup, why not Slew? At this stage, what is Slew? A back-up to the back-up?

Bent, Evans, Cresswell, Ward, Henderson to return in a month or so + Bogdanovic

That's 6 strikers we have on our books. If there was an area of the team we can afford to lose a player it is certainly this dept. Plus, out of all the games he has played he has perhaps put in only one, possibly 2, performances of any decent quality.
With all strikers fit he wouldn't even make the bench. Get rid I say and free up wages for a much more required part of the team.

Out of that list i'd ship out Cresswell and ward before boggy.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Slew is nowhere near being ready for the first team yet.

I know you're not the only one who has said that Daz, but I dont agree with it. If the lad has potential he needs some exposure to the first team. Its ok saying he's not ready but he's not going to become good enough playing in the academy and reserve games. If he's got the natural talent he needs to be given a chance to develop it at first team level even if its a few cameo appearances.

Managers like Dario Gradi and Arsene Wenger have shown how well you can develop young players if you drip feed them first team football from a young age. Keeping them down the pecking order because they're a bit wet behind the ears is counter productive IMO.

I completely agree. I like to see the youngsters been given a chance in the first team, but having watched Slew on a number of occassions in the under 18s and reserves, and I personally don't believe he has enough about him.

I always like to see young players given a chance, but I think he needs more time to develop his all round game and build his strength a bit before being thrown in. I would say there are more players in the Under 18s/Reserves that would deserve a chance in the first team before him personally.

Fair point. I dont watch the youth teams at all so I have very limited knowledge of who is coming through. In regard to Boggy though, I see little point keeping him when he hardly ever plays and we have youngsters waiting in the wings. I havent been that impressed by him either. Steady but average IMO.

According to Paul Walker on twitter, Boggy has turned down the move to Hibs.

Another huge contract beyond the worth of the player. That said, I'd like to see us give him a run - but non of our managers has seen fit so perhaps there are issues (like being crap?)

Skysports.com understands a number of Championship clubs are chasing Sheffield United striker Daniel Bogdanovic on a free transfer.

The Blades are ready to let the Malta international leave on a free as they look to trim their wage bill in wake of their relegation to League One.

Bogdanovic only moved to Bramall Lane last summer from Barnsley, but the striker struggled to hold down a regular place in the side.

The Blades are expected to lose a number of their top players this summer and Bogdanovic's availability on a free transfer has alerted several sides.

Ipswich, Burnley and Peterborough are all looking to bolster their attacking options and they are weighing up moves for Bogdanovic.

Sounds like a decent idea. He is on a big wage and no one will pay a fee so offer him out.

as much as I like Boggy, think the only game I saw him play well was Forest away. If his wage is as big as suggested then good luck to him in the future, it's in all parties best interests.

I think it would be a shame to see Bogdanovic go. I think under Wilson in a passing side he could be a real force. His intelligence and trickery could tear League One defences apart*. However, as we signed him on a free at a time when Blackwell/Birch were handing out decent contracts to anyone then I would say he is on a fair salary. If he is on anything more than 7/8k a week then it probably makes sense to shift him. He is a Championship standard player and will be moved on easy enough.

* I guess the slight draw back here could be that he is quite light weight and does not like a battle. Hence he might get kicked around by some old head stopper CB's in the thrid tier.

Makes sense letting him go, especially if he's on a good salary. Boggy is a tryer and an honest player but average in terms of ability. He'll win you the odd penalty through sheer persistence but I didn't see a lot else from him last season. He was held up as some sort of saviour at one point which was a bit OTT from my point of view. Probably borne out of desperation I suspect.

If he's on a decent wage he has to go really. If not keep him League 1 would be his level. If it was me I'd look at moving on the more saleable assets first. The likes of hendo and monty. Then if when they've gone we can afford to keep him then do so.
