Tbh he isn't going to say "these 2 are utter dog shit but one of them will have to play until we can get someone else in"....
I agree, hence, my 'platitudes' comment. Although I'm sure most of us would love to see a bit of that at times!
Let's all hope he's playing all this very cool and has new incomings well under control. If he isn't/hasn't, we are in deep, deep trouble.

I‘ve stopped listening to them. Fair play doing interviews in a 2nd language but I have no idea what he is saying and it actually makes my head hurt. I do wonder how the players manage.

I hope Slav turns things around but at present I feel this is going to be a complete disaster.
Well if it's a fuck up there's something wrong with this club not him because him and that coaching staff he's bought are world class. Be nice if this football club could have nice things instead of only being succesful with salt of the earth battling Basset/Warnock/Wilder types (legends that they are for what they did)! This needs a shit load of patience.......

No, it means he’s a moron, because he and the club should have been signing a competent replacement after it became clear Ramsdale was off.

I was concerned that he was unsound when he kept picking Burke. This reinforces my view that he’s mailing it in because he’s been dealt a shit hand and he really can’t be bothered.
It’s a worry isn’t it. Surely those already at the club have said, he’s seen the old forage, his career stats - how much evidence does he need that Burke is shit?

And surely we’ve got a goalkeeper incoming? Season over if not.

Listening to that interview he really sounds like he's determined to turn things around.
Seeing some of the comments on here I feel really disappointed . Are we ever going to get away from the muck n nettles management style of the last 30 odd years? No wonder we haven't had a foreign manager before!

Whilst the language is difficult at times I understand what his replies are but it is often over detailed.
I guess the conversations with the players are easier as he is not having to be careful what he says on air.

Listening to his interview now. Not a clue what he's saying though
To be fair I think I read that Spanish is his second language so English would be his third language. Not bad considering!

I actually understand everything he says as I teach English over here and he makes some of the same mistakes as my students (saying "for" instead of "to" for example) when they translate Spanish into English.

I understand most of what he said and loved the bit about taking responsibility. The only part I struggled to understand was his answer on timescales for transfers.

11 days is a good guess.

Some genuinely worrying comments.
"Checking on both current keepers, 2 games each". No Slav, don't check on them. We need a No.1 keeper as a priority! A good one, too. NOW!
If we rely on these two fuckers, we will be closer to the bottom than the top, and might even threaten the relegation places! (IMO)
Norwood, Fleck....gone, done, finished! Creativity and a new mentality needed before the window closes.
If he manages like he talks at the moment (and I know he has to reel out the platitudes at times and some things are lost in translation) we could sleepwalk towards the relegation places.

You mean he should ask for games to be postponed until we get a good keeper in?

So League one Wes starts tomorrow, Verrips in the cup game and Wes against Luton to see if they are good enough, by which time the transfer window is closed we are stuck with these incumbents until 2022 ..................... Phuck me!

Well they must have managed OK at Watford and Fulham, so if our lot can't it's a sorry state of affairs (well, it's that already tbh).

Don’t be so negative, Wes plays his second ‘trial game’ on Saturday 28th. If Slav decides neither of them are good enough, we’ve still got 3 days to bring someone in 🤦🏻

I'm really struggling understanding most of what Slav says... not even joking :(
To the point I don't really listen to him anymore. I get the odd few words and then it's mumble.

It's all cliqué anyway. "We need to keep moving forwards" Yeah I'm sure EVERY club says that. It's a no brainer, so why do managers always repeat them phrases.

Slav explained they are looking around and also said he's not going to bring his current players down by saying they aren't good enough.

There it is, imagine him explaining tactics!

Worrying, just watched all of the interview and the guy looks like he’s got PTSD

hes not come to live in Sheffield to enjoy himself, who does?

Slav comes across as an all round decent bloke. Careful not to criticize his players or the board. Obviously well versed in football politics.
Privately he may be of a different hue? He has made the right noises to appease fans and playing staff.
His tenure so far seems to explain his reputation as a slow starter, being fair to everyone, and not having a dig or blaming individuals. This approach is more like one might expect during a more demanding and complete pre-season. The fact that he arrived later than ideal and is having to use early league matches as the pre-season he might have preferred is unusual, but under the circumstances, he seems at ease with his lot.
No signs of him panicking just yet, but with the STW looming close, he is exhibiting the patience of a saint, at boardroom and player level.

He is a mature, level headed bloke, with a plan, and not given to histrionics or the blame game. If that means a slow start works out for him in the longer term, then so be it.

Right now he is a breath of fresh air to the team, and I am happy to support his steady as she goes, and don’t panic approach. It’s only my opinion, but I hope he gets the response he deserves from the squad. Effectively, he has given them his total backing, and he deserves nothing less in return from them.

Agree, how can you write off a manager who has had no backing at all. The squad needs a complete overhaul.

Give SJ the backing and time to do it or we’re at the start of the downwards spiral which leads to Madkins in about 5 or 6 years. 🤣😬

That's probably it?! Players can't understand him either

I think club like Sheffield United has people and tools to help if there would be any language barriers between manager and players, so things like "players don't understand him" are bad jokes.

Of course he must see potential in current team or he wouldn't take the job in the first place or would he? Current team has just finished one nightmare-like PL season and the mental blow doesn't reset with dates like transfer windows and then there's also new playstyle and stuff to learn.

The current team might be in mental preasure that many people will never have to deal with by their WORK. These guys are professionals who try to do their best for us, the fans, too. I think we should give them time and support, at least I will.

Stick to what we know. A manager from Sheffield, it’s the only thing we get success from other than Harry Bassett.

Who’s top of the Sunday Meadowhall league at the moment? Get them in
Joking apart, that is genuinely the attitude of a number of our fans.

Don't trust Johnny Foreigner.

It's actually quite depressing.

Listening to Slavs interviews is hard work, his English isn't the best, he also gives the impression that he has difficulty in understanding the questions coming his way. He seems to give the same answers over and over, not convinced he knows what is being asked half the time.

The players need to learn the Serb for ' go forwards and hit the ball between the two white stick things.'

I wonder if Slav was appointed to bounce back at the first attempt with a few loans to add to our perceived quality and he now realises that the team needs a major overhaul which may see a change in direction of our transfer strategy?
