You don’t know that….he may have had other offers on the table. Plus you’re suggesting then that we could have signed a better keeper on a shorter deal. Maybe given we needed a keeper this was the best option from others available. Not like we were signing a third keeper as cover while having a clear 2 fit and ahead of him…he was basically coming in as a number 2 given Moore’s injury.

Interesting that Wilder has suddenly become a manager who loved to waste the clubs money. Odd
We could have signed the exact same keeper on a one year deal. There is literally no reason at all to give him more more than 12 months. None.

You do not give multiple year contracts to players who carry zero value in the transfer market. It's terrible use of resources. If you need to replace him you have to pay him to leave. It was amateurish and naieve

Jack Rodwell says Hi.

I think you're looking for things that aren't there. No-one is saying that. However, you could make a case for saying transfer dealings weren't his strongest suit without it becoming WilderBashing.

I'm confused.

We're signing Phil Parkes or Peter Hooker?

It was pointed out to me by my son who spends time int smoke on business that he was being very fashionable by not wearing a belt. Apparently belts are OUT.

Juse hope it doesn’t result in ArseNil pulling his trousers down over Rammers (see how I cunningly linked it to the thread subject :D).
Oh so cunning !

Would Ramsdale be first choice over Leno? Or more a cup goalkeeper and one for the longer-term?
Still quite amusing they sold Martinez to Villa only for him to be the best goalkeeper in the league last year

All £220m+Ish of it? Plus £70m parachute payments, worst case scenario?
Isn't the parachute 45m year one; 35 year two; 15 year three? Either way it seems like dramatic cost cutting in light of the talk of dramatic wage decreases and players that have already left. I thought we'd be in a position of strength to rebuff tire kickers.

Even better then! PL football has brought in/will bring in a third of a billion pounds. Players have had 50% wage cuts, (relatively) big fees spread out through duration of players' contracts. Still leaves quite a few quid left over...

My mate (Arsenal fan) reckons he’d be number one because apparently Leno is useless, his words...

50%, after increase due to new contracts so still more than we were paying last time we were here, significantly more. Also didn’t the wage bill last time include all the promotion bonus’ so it’s inflated. Closer to £20M wasn’t it?

Its also relevant that last time we were in the Championship the owner was subsiding the club as we could afford the wage bill we had and here we are again with a much larger wage bill. It’s not hard to see where them money is going and that’s before we get into the Covid losses.

If we can get 25 million for Ramsdale we should take it. Sure, he is an English talent and could develop into a 40+ million goalkeeper, however he has not exactly been flawless and it still needs to be seen whether he actually takes the next step to a top 10 premier league GK.

Also, if the reports are true that we cannot do any deal till we get money then I would prefer signings on any other position than GK. Sure, a good GK saves points but overall I think you could get a solid one for 5-10 million and other positions need it more.

However, the perfect scenario would be to get rid of some of our midfielders/strikers so we have assets, but guess nobody wants them...

Do something else with your time. Being this miserable and negative is unhealthy

Truth starting to hurt you is it ?

My posts are actually funny to those that can handle the truth. I laugh my bollocks off whilst writing them.

It's a shit club in the transfer business, always has been, whether inward transfers or outbound transfers, they get fucked both ways because
1) No player is actually all that bothered about coming here

2) No player wants to stay here, except those that we can't offload to Halifax or Salford where they belong and the extent of their true talent is

Don’t care how much money you make and how many replacements you sign.Selling your top players is never good business and a small club mentality.Even though sometimes you have no choice.

Selling your top players is inevitable unless you're Man City, Bayern, PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid or possibly Man U. Even huge clubs like Man U and Liverpool have had to do it. What matters is how you react: Liverpool sold Coutinho and used the proceeds to fix their major weaknesses at centre half (van Dijk) and goalkeeper (Alisson). Chelsea sold Hazard and improved. Leicester sold Maguire and improved. Brentford sold Watkins and improved. Our issue historically is that we've sold our best players then bought dross.

This is simple sell Ramsdale and Berge and get 40M if we are lucky (remember the sell on clauses though) and
NO PROMOTION

Keep Ramsdale and Berge and add a couple more we will
GET PROMOTED AND £160M

it ain’t rocket science is it

I totally understand that as I eluded to at the end of my post .I’m just saying that fans surely shouldn’t be happy to sell (some encouraging it).And especially considering our poor sales history.

Depends who we sign. Some clubs sell but replace like for like or close to.
