Ramsdale, Verrips, Foderingham, Moore if I'm not mistaken. And 3 of those were never going to play.

Wilder's success previous to us was in the National League and L2. I said we'll find out if he can really manage at the top level because that's open to question, anyone can have a good season, as Phil Brown can testify, and there's been lots of one-season wonders. And does anyone really believe, despite his incredibly successful career that Warnock can manage at "the top level"?

As for signings, I don't expect them all to work out, but it's like Morrison, Robinson (we swapped him for worse), Freeman, Rodwell, Foderingham and Lowe never happened. That's in addition to the others who were either flops or we didn't get the best out of, depending on how charitable you're feeling.

Four keepers then, one more than the standard amount. Didn't Verrips go out on loan? Maybe Moore was meant to, but got injured or couldn't find a club. Happens to clubs all the time though.

Whether Wilder can manage at the top level is open to question I suppose, I feel like lg2 and below still counts if we're talking generally.

You've listed some signings that didn't work out, as happens with every manager at every club. Given we were constantly 'shopping at Aldi' under Wilder, that so many worked out is a credit to him and the recruitment staff.

That is your opinion not a fact. I agree he is a fantastic manager but you can't put him above Bassett or John Harris or even the Managers of years gone by that actually won us our only silverware. He's definitely up there with them.

Can't argue with the circa £300m+ that wilder brought into the club though

Whilst Wilder was undoubtedly a superb manager for us what also needs to be considered is he was also in charge for what will go down in the record books as one of the worse seasons in the clubs history and he was also in charge when we were knocked out of the FA Cup at home to a non league side for the first time in our history.

I would definitely put Bassett as one of our best managers but John Harris is up there. Wilder would be third. I have to say though, some of the best football I have ever seen was played by Wilders players, even though none of them was anyway near as talented as some of our past players.

Actually I look at it more like an ex, just because the relationship ended doesn't mean it wasn't a success.

I believe Moore was due out on loan in the summer but he got a nasty hand injury in preseason which kept him out for a few months. Verrips went on loan to Emmen in January.

We have four goalkeepers on the books but only one is proven to be of the requisite quality. One's unproven, one's not good enough and the last, at the age of 24, has played the sum total of 24 professional games, 22 of which were at League Two level.

The profit on Berge and Ramsdale comments are ridiculous when being used as proof of Wilder's signings not being shit. If their sale price is double their cost then we make £40M profit, which is never going to happen by the way.

By getting it so wrong, the bloke cost the club £80M; -£120M Premier League TV money offset by +£40M parachute money. If we get fees for Berge and Rammers, we're still down by tens of millions financially and without two 'good' players.

As I've stated elsewhere I personally find it sad on a human level the bloke who gave me nearly half a decade of nothing but good memories is now been chastised for 20 odd games when the world changed for every single one of us, during them 4 years we were as one and we will never know how much it impacted on Wilder that we weren't with him.

I wish him every success and if the previous decade or so of his management is taken into account he will be a good manager somewhere else.

I didn't like Wilder at the end of his tenure, he pissed me off, never took any responsibility for the shit on the pitch and blamed it on everything else but himself but it was clear he wasn't right and now he seems like he's in a lot better place mentally.

You can't argue with those 4 seasons from League One to the Prem, amazing times I'll always be thankful for, but for me how I view him overall is still a bit up in the air for now because if we can't arrest the slide we seem to be in, it might not be pretty. We have a big wage bill, a big repayment plan for a few players, and presently only Rammers and Berge would come close to their purchase price should we need to raise funds.

I agree. As much of a fan of Wilder as I am I think it will be a Championship club that takes a punt on him, one that is probably struggling a little. Failing that a big League 1 club would not be the worst step for him right now either; someone like Sunderland, Portsmouth, Bolton, Ipswich or even Charlton who he was close to going to previously would be great options for him. Big clubs but less expectation right now but a chance to bring them through like the Blades.
