Berge looked quality going forwards
The crowd was good, respectful and tollerant
We had some shots from outside the box ( not very good ones )
Slav had the bollox to sub fleck ( hopefully a kick up his arse )
Burke showed real pace ( not as bad as some make out )
The pies wernt out of date ( no sell by date on but acceptable )
Cant wait to get back boy how i missed it coyrww

Definitely a cpl positives to be had in my very humble and small opinion.
Thought berge was good second phase heading forward with some strong runs. Also thought Burke wasn't as bad as many make out, his touch and control certainly seemed improved from last season - maybe he's got a bit more confidence.
Don't get me wrong, still plenty that's not right and clicking yet. But given the shambles of a pre season and new formation I'm not going to write us off yet. Let's hope we can get a bit of luck for next match and have some forwards smashing into the box this time.
UTB onwards...

Real pace 0 Brum 1

Two strikers chosen who don’t score goals.

Building play from the back instead of just punting it forward. I know it wasn’t the best but once he gets the players in he needs and who can play to his system we will see more improvement. It’s a work in progress, Slav is the man for the job.

Best thing of the weekend most of our probable promotion rivals didn't gain much.

All the big teams drew.

Hull,Luton,Blackburn Stoke, Birmingham the only winners so far this weekend. With Forest v Coventry yet to play.

Yep, let’s remain positive. Slav will have learned more about his team yesterday than any training session or friendly. We’ve got square pegs in round holes at the moment to suit his style.

Im not sure on Burke though. He’s showed nothing else other than pace for a year, that’s nothing new.

We didn’t ‘build’ though. We played around at the back and then did nothing with it, then resorted to a punt into channels.

Maybe last 10 mins we ‘built from the back’ but that’s because they retreated completely so we could do so.

Encouraged to see us attempt a new, modern style of play, not afraid to start with our attacking flair players. A freshen up is what we needed.

Going to take time and a couple of signings, it’s a hugely different way of playing. Playing out from the back to draw them out before playing forward with pace up front.

Just hope we give it time for Jokanovic to implement his style - we all wanted him here for the way he had his previous sides playing, got to let him actually do it and not shout ‘get it forward’ after 5 minutes.

+'s great to get back to the lane and a bit of normality.
Beavertown Neck Oil is an improvement on Carling and John Smiths shite, pity about the untrained bar staff. I think a Moslem would know the difference between IPA, Lager and Cider some of the bar staff didn't 🤣 🤪

I agree it needs time, but I’m worried it needs players we don’t have. The system involves a huge amount of positional flexibility, and would seem to require attacking players to beat their man.

Must admit it pained me to watch Baldock plugging away manfully but without the overlapping support we built our success on. If we don’t make signings, the system needs to be tweaked.

I think there were positives from yesterday, not I think everything is great and there may issues to resolve no doubt, especially the left hand side of defence which just couldn't cope with any cross but when (if) players are signed and return from injury that should be resolved, but we have a new manager and had a very restricted pre-season, not got any new players in and I'm sure Slav would have wanted some if possible. It does look as the team need to work on the formation and get used to, too many players looked unsure or just not good enough in it.

Berge second half looked quality when he pushed forward, and there were signs both Lys and Brewster will do ok in this league. A couple of nice runs and crosses, though I'd prefer both in the middle then playing so wide. McBurnie looked ok as well in the brief time he was on. Burke is a problem, fast yes but too often just runs the ball out or out of ideas what to do. I have no idea how bad Lys injury is, but if even out for a few weeks I'd keep Jebbo which would be another benefit. I have way more concerns about defence and midfield than attack tbh.

The other thing we are going to see, again, just like last time we were in this division, is teams defending with 9 players, time wasting, rolling about for no reason and cynical yellow cards. Especially if they take the lead, which is exactly what Brum did yesterday, especially in that second half. The team and the fans need to get used to it again. Last time we had the players and formation to overcome it on most occasions, not sure at the moment we have but the manager needs to resolve this and quickly otherwise we will see many more games like yesterday.

I thought Brum got bored watching us fanny around with it between ourselves at the back and only decided to challenge for it in order to get the game started again. If ever a game was crying out for a Bash to bring it forward, or someone with real energy from midfield this was it. Blend & Balance? - Gentleman John Harris must have been spinning in his grave.

I saw positives. It will take time, be patient with Slav, he will get it right.

Slav's not the problem sadly its the players we are running out of paitence with. Slav can have as long as he likes to get his "squad" which may be a while as we have no money. Feel sorry for him but he must have something up his sleeve. Worst PL team in history (well nearly) and he wants to Manage them. Must have seen something. Just hope he didnt turn out to get empty promises or he will walk by Xmas.

Look at the top 6

Positive - Just dont look at the bottom six.

Positives for me were we had loads of posssesion and we wernt camped in our own half waiting for the opposition to score (we were camped in their half waiting for them to score)🙈. More importantly everyone who sits near me had made it through covid.

I agree. Don’t get too high when we win or too low when we lose. It will take time to adjust from a specific style of play that most of the players have known for at least two years.
Give the team 10 games then see where we are at. There will be additions and some of our ‘regulars’ will have to show their ability to adapt or be out of the team.
I would assume Davies will be coming into the back four and RND in, when he is fit. If Viera arrives he will offer something different and hopefully will release Berge to more advanced. Then it is working out which is out best three up front and how to play them.

We looked like a team with a disrupted pre season. Both in regards to tactics and fitness. Fucking hell fire, one game. How can Slav know his best 11 off the basis of a disrupted summer? We looked like we lacked that yard, unfortunately it happens. We’d have beaten them otherwise, they’d still resorted to nasty bollocks and we were at 50% our capability.
