He probably wants to leave. But I doubt he’d do it in a cunty way - unless we priced him out. Anything over 35 and I’d sell personally.

think if no one bid that then he’d be happy to stay.

Agree although if we are holding out for 40 million and arsenals second bid was the reported 18 rising to 25 then we’re a hell of a long way apart and a deal can’t be close in that circumstance

If he goes now we're fucking mugs, no matter how much it's for.

We'll be stood in the tunnel in 48 hours, waiting to start our season. What keeper are we getting in? Nobody as good as Ramsdale, and given how slow we are in the window, very likely nobody full stop.

If we're just going to get shafted by some other club holding out for big money, why not just keep the one we have. We don't need to sell, he doesn't want to go. Give it a season, or if we're really shite, til January.

if arsenal offer anything over 30m i reckon hes gone but surely weve got another keeper lined up for this scenario if it happens the way slav is talking i think he expects rammy and sander to be sold before the end of august

This is the guy who told us McGoldrick was going to West Brom a couple of weeks ago.
My thoughts exactly. Although it could be seen from a mile of that this was Arsenals plan the whole time. Make a couple of bids that show serious interest but know wont be accepted, leak to the media that he’s your top target and want him to replace leno in hopes of him forcing a transfer and them getting him for a cheaper price than what it would have been

At lot of the figures are completely made up. A couple of weeks ago we were getting solid reports Arsenal had made an offer of 30 million and we'd told them to up to 32. Then we found out actually it was 18 million and god knows where the 32 figure came from. 40 million seems like another made up number. Unless our board are working on a sliding scale i.e. it was 30 a few weeks ago but the nearer we get to the season starting, the higher the asking price gets.

That being said if there's a prem club that would use underhand tactics to get a player on the cheap, it'd be arsenal. They want to be thought of as one of the super elite top premier league clubs until it comes to the actual money bit and then they've left their chequebook in their other jacket. They're like a destitute lord still trying to live the high life but driving around in a clapped out rusty Jag.

I agree that we have our valuations for both players and as such have contingencies in place for if those are met but disagree that the noises coming out of the club suggest a sale it’s all be pretty positive imo.

slav has stated he expects ramsdale and berge to be in the squad saturday but doesnt rule out the possibility that one or both could be sold that tells me all i want to know yogi at least one of them is going imo

In berge’s case he literally can’t rule it out as it’s out of the clubs hands if a bid comes in which triggers the 35 million pound clause then that club can talk to the player and there’s nothing United can do about it whether that happens now or a minute before the window closes. Either him or the club would therefore be daft to say there’s no way berge leaves.

With ramsdale the club currently holds all the power really he’s under a very long contract which doesn’t contain any release clauses and so the pressure to sell for anything other than financial reasons isn’t really there and united appear to be in a fairly secure position in that regard this summer rebuffing lucrative bids for berge and ramsdale thus far. Even if ramsdale were to hand in a transfer request (which there’s no indication he intends to do other than a very vague think piece) the length of his deal still affords United a significant amount of wiggle room.

From what I have read he would be 'competing' for the number 1 spot with Leno, but given the fact Arsenal are not in Europe it doesn't give him much of a chance of winning that spot like Henderson did at Manure. I think he would have more options after a good season with us.

Just seen on the Star that Rambo has bought 2 houses in Sheffield. One for himself and he's also bought the digs he used stay at and is renting it out to some of the academy lads.

Doesn't seem like he's planning on leaving.

He's deleted all photos of his bird who lives down south too....

Start the season with Foderingham. Be reyt.

Just can't imagine Ramsdale forcing the issue to sit on Arsenal's bench
This is the same Ramsdale who, despite now being a millionaire, moved back into the digs he was at as an apprentice as soon as he came back to Sheffield.

Yeah, I somehow think Pete has got this one wrong.

On and 18m rising to 30m if Ramsdale takes the winning penalty in the world Cup Final doesn't constitute a '30m bid' in my book. It's 30m over th course of his contract, not giving a single fuck what the win or don't win during this period.

And even then I'd want 35m. Season starts Saturday. They've had more than enough time to stop twatting about.

I'm with others, that the main factor in this is timing.

We're yet to be convinced we have an adequate understudy on our books, let alone someone ready to be the no.1 if Ramsdale were to leave. Too hard to replace on the eve of the season, they're taking the piss. No sale.

According to some on here it’s a piece of piss to sign a good Championship quality keeper for about £5m, so I reckon we’d be fine ;)

To a modern day footballer on £25k plus per week, buying houses is a hobby!

and a future investment which is a little bit safer than buying race horses

Arsenal 'planning DOUBLE swoop for Sheffield United duo Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge' as Mikel Arteta continues summer spending spree to overhaul Gunners squad

Arsenal are set to be considering a double-raid on Sheffield United for goal-keeper Aaron Ramsdale and midfielder Sander Berge.

Mikel Arteta has been chasing Ramsdale for some time, but his interest has re-emerged in Berge after unofficial talks seemed to cool off earlier this year, according to The Star.
The Gunners are thought to be baulking at the Blades' £40million demand for Ramsdale, believing an offer of £30m is more appropriate, but United are not moving.
However, as a compromise, Arsenal are reportedly willing to table a sizeable offer for both Ramsdale and Berge that the Blades, as a Championship club, would find difficult to turn down.
For his part, United manager Slavisa Jokanovic has made it clear he has no intention of selling either player.

I don't think the ego of the Arsenal fans will be happy if they spend £70m on two players that finished in a team that was pretty dreadful last season. Arsenal are a big step up for both players I completely understand that but their fan base is completely divided, Arteta will probably get the sack soon and if they have 2/3 bad games the pressure will be on the players.

If I was Berge I would look at the way the fans treat Granit Xhaka clearly a good player on his day but Arsenal fans give him so much stick.

Xhaka is a quality BWM. A real unit of a player, arsenal fans couldn't see quality if it slapped them in the face. Unless they're a 80+ million pound player they're wank in the eyes of arse TV.

I listened to The Second Tier podcast yesterday and they were both saying how bad some of the first choice goalkeepers are for teams this season. I genuinely don't know who we would replace Ramsdale within 3 weeks.

Rammers fronted up to the media for our turd season several times displaying, integrity, courage and a great approach to the game for one so young.
His value to the club is beyond simply playing. Our batch of u23s also have a fantastic mentor to follow. Proving our club can make you a European nations cup finalist. £40m seems to cheap for such an asset.

An email for the club to use.

Hi Arsenal, (insert other clubs if possible)

Unfortunately with all of your messing about we regret to inform you that it’s simply to late for us to now do a “deal”. The in, out, in, out, shake it all about philosophy you have decided to lead with during the beginning stages of the transfer window, has fallen short of our expectations of what a serious bidding club is. However, all is not lost, precedent has been set during this time so your transfer team, and the peddling agents you’ve tried to bung can take stock of your transfer dealing decisions and develop alternative strategies, in the form of Manchester City. Example provided.

Grealish was wanted, Aston Villa said “£100m please”. Manchester City paid said £100m. Deal done.

As a club that values Community, inclusivity and sporting merit, we are delighted to provide you with cheaper options of a similar quality that should sit comfortably within your financial quota. It is, to that end, all at Sheffield United hope that this will help support the development and transition of your club towards a serious bidding club.

If you wish to revise/improve your bid you are welcome to do so in the January transfer window, however, due to administrative costs the new asking price is £60 million.

Goalkeepers in Europe available for £10 - £20 Million.

Florian Muller 23, Stuttgart.
Alvaro Fernandez 23, Huesca.
Emil Audero 24, Sampdoria
Predrag Rajkovic 25, Stade de Reims

Regards, and fuck off for now.
Stephen Bettis.

Not sure where that £70 million would come from anyway. Haven't they just signed Ben White for £50 million.

I know that's silly money but remember Ramsdale picked up and went to Euro's, as for Berge he was injured for a large part so yes team dreadful but Ramsdale was one shining beacon at end. In addition if City can pay 100m for the most overrated player I've seen in years "carpet" Grealish, then 70m for them 2 isn't so daft.
