It is a hugely significant occasion. Unfortunately , though a ST holder for over 50 years , I have to be in London for a family gathering held to commemorate the death from Covid of a relative.
But I'll be back , hoping not to be mocked for wearing a mask at my beloved Lane.

I will shed a tear of sadness and happiness inside lane on Saturday it going to be so different than previous 40+ seasons I've attended up the blades

My brother is a Wednesday season ticket holder.
I saw him yesterday and he said he went to their cup game against Huddersfield.

He explained that due to SW being so crap he‘s lost some interest in football generally.
He also said he’s now out of the habit of attending matches….so wasn’t enthusiastic about going and almost gave it a miss

However he said that when the ref blew his whistle to kick off the crowd roared and he felt quite emotional.
He said the match was pretty crap but he really enjoyed the experience, said it felt like “coming home”.

He also said hardly anyone wore masks apart from a few in the concourse areas so it felt quite similar to pre-covid times.
Regards SW he said defence was excellent, midfield average but attack really poor. He thinks SW will be tough to beat but will struggle to score goals, so he predicts upper mid table but says if they acquire a decent striker or 2 then they could finish in the play-offs at least. He‘s quite excited now because they have loads of new loanees and free transfers, so no one knows what to expect but he’s well aware their signings could end up being duds.

Keen, there’s always ignorant idiots everywhere but surely the worse you’ll receive is the odd sarcastic comment….it’s not right but just ignore it.
I’m sure 99% of our fans will be respectful. To be honest I don’t see how anyone can mock mask wearers, they’ve been compulsory for so long so we’re all familiar with them and the potential dangers of covid have been massively communicated everywhere…so it’s understandable why anyone might continue to wear a mask.

I will be wearing mine in and out of the ground where its really crowded but don't think I will when sat watching the match

I have thought about this a few times over the last few days and I really don't know how I'll feel. In some ways, it will feel like I've never been away, then in others it will feel like a lifetime.

Saturday night under the lights at BDTBL after the best part of 18 months. I've got goosebumps and it's three days way.

Sorry for your loss and you wear your mask if you want to. This awful, awful illness is still among us and we each have to use wise discernment on what is in our best interests.

I imagine for some it will be a dreadfully emotional first game, if they can face going at all.

There’ll be a few empty seats for sure sadly. 😞

I find it bizarre people would question people wearing masks would understand it more the other way round, must've been in Asia too long lol. Hope everyone going enjoys it. Excited now even though I thought after the Prem I would see an end to 4am kickoffs on a weekend, but apparently not (thanks Sky).

I have a very young nephew who quite reasonably, I guess, thinks masks are part of everyday attire just like clothes I suppose, and reminds everyone who leaves his house to put one on.
Quite worrying that the younger generation have picked up on this but understandable given the times we live in.
I shall wear my mask going in and out of the ground, in the bog etc. I'll leave deciding on wearing it at my seat till I get there.... such is life today, eh.

We’ve moved from the kop to John Street as my dad can’t manage the climb up the steps. So we’ll be missing our old friends on the kop but hopefully be making new ones.
It has been tough to move from the seat I’ve had for decades. My dad took the seat on after my son passed away 13 years ago so I feel I’m leaving my link to him as well. There is no doubt that the GCB will break me. I can’t wait to get there though.

When ST seat moves were allowed, we checked to see if any near us were free so we could move 2 STs next to us. 2 old boys who've sat directly behind me for 7 or 8 years hadn't renewed ☹... that was a bittersweet moment. Hope they're OK.

Might have thought this was a good opportunity to get away from you ;)

Could easily be nothing to do with Covid though, at least 3 from our crowd havent renewed because of Wilder and they've been life long season ticket holders

Really? I'll always have a soft spot for Wilder and am upset about the way it ended but it's history now. Time to get behind the team and the new manager.

Yeah, all fanatical Blades but have some personal connections to Wilder and are disgusted at what happened and have vowed not to spend another penny on the Blades until the Prince leaves. Atleast Ill be able to use their loyalty points to get to some away games as theyve all easily got enough to get first dibs.

That's pathetic, just as those that said "I'm not going until Warnock's gone"

As far as I'm concerned people come and people go, so they either support the club or they can piss off.

They won't be missed.

Well its their decision and one that I dont agree with but no, they will be missed. They know more about whats gone on and than most have been speaking to Wilder directly and feel he was hounded out of the club so if they want to make a stand no matter how pointless then thats up to them.

Probably a couple of the most vocal fans on the Kop and the most passionate fans I know, it will be a real shame theyre not there.

Emotional?

I’m gooing in f’in and jef’in bunch of lazy relighted nobs and don’t get me started if Lunny’s int line up, and as for Wilder he’s geerin both barrels. He wants sackin

Yeah and upon closer inspection, Billy Sharp has used his nous and ass to barge either a defender or the goalkeeper out of the way to ensure the shot on goal and gets away with it. 10/10 ⚔️
Always wondered why keepers in Championship used to flap at crosses when Billy was there, then the replay would show a textbook block or barge

I spoke with a fellow season ticket holder myself the other day who also said he's not going due to what's going on behind the scenes. Respect that choice but crikey - this isn't exactly S6!

Pretty sure I'll be an emotional wreck come kick off Saturday - just seeing a few familiar faces who you sit near or just see at the game, whether you actually know them or not, and hoping, just hoping that some seats aren't empty for a heart breaking reason.
And when the Greasy Chip Butty song blasts out . . . well . . . just hoping I'll be able to hold it together and join in?!
Wow, getting all emotional about it NOW just think about it!!! . . . . . Now where did I put those Man Up pills??? (Please don't let me start blubbering like a bitch).

COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE WIIIZZZAAARRRDDDSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
