Who do you see being the main threats from this, arguably fairly weak, Championship?

Us, if we aren't intending changing huge parts of our playing staff and system.

If we think United can simply roll up unchanged from last season and scoop in points from assumed lower status teams we are in deep shit.

Teams will have watched our failings this past season and have strategies ready to deal with us. They'll block out the overlaps and overloads, they'll press the outnumbered midfield weaknesses and they'll put Ramsdale on the spot with crosses and long shots.

When we run out on that first day, that line up needs to change and given SJs propensity for possession and patience, I expect to see us play a different game, preferably not the 'give it to Norwood to lamp it diagonally' crap which has proven disastrous this past season. Our time on the ball has been embarrassingly shit. If we are playing assumedly weaker opposition, I expect to see that reflected in the possession and chances created, never mind goals scored.

It's time we forgot the past and looked forward. Hiring a non UK manager is a start.

See what happens over the summer. In the meantime, why aren’t you interviewing Buba Yohanna or Benoit Croissant about how Warnock charmed them into becoming blades?
 
Not sure it's going to be weak personally, plenty of recent Premier league sides in there

Plenty of other biggish clubs in there too, any of whom will be dangerous if they get recruitment right

we wont be unchanged pommp sj will bring at least 6 new signings in this summer imo and dont forget theres a big gulf in quality between the premier league and championship with good new additions i expect us to be top 6 minimum

The Star are reporting that Jokanovic has been given the "green light" to bring in his backroom staff to the Lane. It may be too early to say but it does look like that our board have promised more than West Brom have regarding changes to players and staff. WBA took the expensive gamble by hiring Big Sam and meeting his demands last January and it looks like it was short termism that has backfired.

There's work to be done on our squad thats for sure. Ageing, not a lot of quality and low on confidence. Exciting season on the horizon. Actually looking forward to it.

Much as I hate to say it, can't rule out the Dingles. Just had a decent season if they can build on it.

Not so sure. Their agricultural style took a fair few by surprise but they started to be found out towards the back end of the season and didn’t have an alternate. They’re also losing a couple of key players this summer, Mowatt for starters.
 
Could be a very interesting season, might well be a managerial merry go round, question marks regards quite a few, how much time has Parker got a Fulham, after all their loan players go back, Ismael is getting linked to various vacancies, WBA the latest, WBA will probably lose their keeper and Pereira, and possibly the other guy in midfield on loan from Chelsea, Reading's form dropped off a cliff, missed out on play offs, if they have a bad start, they might be looking for a new manager, Bournemouth could lose a few players,,possibly one team that could keep hold of players and the manager,, Swansea

big question also re Covid and lack of income will more clubs 'cut their cloth ' or will some see it as even more vital to get into the PL and gamble, might not be a record year for big fee transfers, could be one for how many managers are sacked, or how many clubs start taxi firms and energy drink companies!

Thought about them but they are a team that like to sell their better players. But like you say, if they build definitely in the mix.

Depends if they keep Ismael as well. Certainly put himself in the window.
 
If we recruit well and bring in the 2 defensive minded midfield players,and the 2 creative midfielders/wingers needed,we will be primed for a go at automatic.Bournemouth are the only team that impressed me last season and Reading in patches,if they get a better manager in they could go better than last season.
 
Albion, Fulham will surely be up there with Mitrovic, assuming he stays. Bournemouth if they appoint a decent manager could be a threat. I think Swansea are done now, Ayew to leave surely. I rate Chris Hughton and Michael O'Neil, so I could see Forest and Stoke as stronger contenders. t's never easy though even in a weaker Championship.
 
I think it looks wide open, all 3 relegated sides facing rebuilding jobs, couple of transfer moves in the PL could see lower table sides taking key players from other sides, Newcastle supposedly looking at Gallagher from Blackburn, couple of sides looking at players from Barnsley, Brooks, Danjuma might not fancy another season with Bournemouth and rumours Mitrovic not happy at Fulham
 
Surely Forest are gonna get it together one year? A pretty shit season again but they seem intent on throwing a few quid at it.
 
DANJOUMA will be away,maybe to one of the promoted teams,they will get an offer they can't refuse.We have taken the first step in a new era by appointing the right manager,there is no point in stopping there,we need to bring in the players who make us a cut above the mid table battlers and enable us to put them in their place,and also give us a better chance to get results against the genuine promotion prospects which could mean the difference between play offs and automatic.We need to recruit players who are capable of going on to play PL football,to make our Championship campaign less of a weekly battle and more of us showing we have extra than the average,plus giving us a head start when we do go up.No point in getting the manager and not following up with a statement of intent with player recruitment.
 
It does seem strange not seeing the crappy Wednesday and Leeds crests amongst all that.

Bournemouth will lose a couple more of their 'Premiership players' and are a year further into their parachute payments.

WBA gambled on saying up, or at least spent more than we did late on to put up more of a fight, that could cost them.

Fulham will be strong.

Swansea didn't impress me but should be top 6 again.

Derby and Forrest should be better but have some serious work to do.

Barnsley will drop off and sell all their assets in the next few months, its what they do.
