are we ready?

Robson’s biggest problem was that we spent decent money but our results didn’t reflect that.

For me the results didn't reflect it because, whatever football we did or didn't play, the whole team were completely unfit and couldn't play at any sort of pace (or beyond the 70 minute mark). Beattie would have been a tremendous asset but spent many games preserving his energy just so he could get through the game (making him look lazy).
Blackwell took the same group of players, got them fit and despite his anti football got results out of them.

I am sort of presuming the new manager will be sober enough to make sure the players maintain a basic level of fitness.

Have you made a decision yet
I believe that most of those players were signed without any input from him.

That won't happen at United.
To an extent it will. We have a recruitment team, they pushed back on Wilder eventially and will choose most of the players we recruit now. I'm sure they will run names past Slav in passing as opposed to forcing whoever they want on him without any consultation but Slav will not be primarily involved in recruitment. A little scary to be honest but PA is always suggesting players were offered up to Wilder that have gone on to do well at other clubs. I do think think we have people on the board who know their shit. Will be interesting. It's going to be very different.

Buzzing to get Slav, the best option by a mile.

However its also good to keep realistic, and I do think we need to be prepared for some challenges as well as the good times he will hopefully bring us...

for example, are we ready to be bottom half for the first 10 or so games?

ready for the upheaval and potential upset of some core favourites from the Wilder squad? (e.g. how we react if he lists didz/bash/sharp etc)

Are we ready for a ruthless manager to come and handle our team’s affairs, our 1st foreign manager who has no connection to the club except for them being his employer?

It’s a huge change from Wilder era, but let’s embrace both the challenges and the good times ahead. Slavs red and white wizards ⚔️
Fans have been screaming out about getting a new fresh pair of eyes on the club and players. Well we have it now with SJ. He may indeed weald the axe for some of our favourites but I am sure he will understand that he needs to keep the fans on his side too.

It we’re not 5 points clear at the top of the league after 2 games and stay at least 5 points clear all season I’ll be in the car park with my shoes aloft
But what if its raining, and youve got a potato in your sock (for the young uns its a hole where the heel looks like a potato )

Just met this lass. Great baps but not seen the flange yet..
Should i wait to see the flange, given the nice baps. Or just get rid now to avoid disappointment?
Are you trying to say Slavisa has nice tits?

Has she hinted at Anal yet??

I think he will be very involved in who we sign, having players forced on him as exactly what happened at Fulham, I don't think hed agree to it happening again, he was very vocal about it last time, which cost his job.

That is my concern too. Remember the Brian Robson era?

We were promised a change from fast direct long ball Warnock style to a more patient keep possession passing style.
In early marches this is what happened. We controlled possession playing constant short passes.

I was initially impressed how we controlled matches...then I realised it’s actually mainly sideways passing.
Our attacks were too slow allowing teams to always have plenty of defenders back. Every game was 0-0 at half time.
Our football was technically excellent but there was little goal mouth action (in either box) and it was KIND OF BORING to watch.

After a few matches our crowd started moaning with cries of “gerrit forrad””
Some started booing the constant sideways passing......so Robson listened to the fans and changed the style to play it longer.
However half the team couldn’t play the long ball game....eventually they became confused with a jumbled up mess of a style of play.

At least the fans are more used to passing football now...some of the stuff we played in league 1 under Wilder was constant possesion with sideways passing.
To be honest.....if we are generally winning.....any style will be accepted.
Difference between Robson and Joka is that Joka's team play possession game but with defenders on half line and rest of team very high up. We won't need to yell get it forward because the possession will be deep in opposition territory anyway.

Trust me, boring and lack of chances is the last thing you will be saying about Joka's style of play 😉

Always wondered why people chose to take shoes off and throw them.

You only got 2 and then ur out of ammo. Then you've got to walk home with damp holey socks wishing you still had your shoes...

That's not at all what the club have said will happen and I don't see why they would lie

Probably either first 10 or last 10 , no hang on that’s just my boot collection 😃⚔️

I would expect Sharp to move on this term

I was talking to Sharp the other day at my son's football award night.
Sharp isn't going anywhere by the way. He's still got a year on his contract and he'd rather sit out and retire in the red and white stripes than go anywhere. Plus he has invested a lot of time outside of Sheffield United on developing young uns at grass roots level in Sheffield.

But you never know though, things can change. But the only way I see him going is on loan to a local club ie. Donny.

I doubt the general supporter base are ready for his possession based game. I hear loads of moans about the re-cycling from wide rather than gerritintbox, that will pale compared to what will be expected. His team WILL keep the ball, and if they lose it will get it back ASAP and not give it away again. Pass, pass, pass and then pass some more.
As long as it is nothing like that bleeding dire passing game that Weir thought up.

Still reckon he'd get 20 goals at that level

Players I see thriving under Slav at champ level...

Fleck
Norwood
Didzy
Bogle
Brewster
And even (dare I say it)... Burke

Sharp has been written off ever since we got promotion back to the Champ.
Fact is he's a goalscorer and at champ level pretty lethal. He's also got himself in better shape since we got promoted to the Champ too.

These are just he league stats aside from this season.

17-18 = 34 apperances - 13 goals
18-19 = 40 appearances - 23 goals
19-20 = 25 appearances - 3 goals
20-21 = 16 appearances - 3 goals total this season though 19 appearances - 5 goals

Past two seasons he's had alot of sub appearances and obviously playing at PL level.
His experience alone will still help Brewster and Jebbison.
In fact Sharp went through a similar issue when Robson was appointed. Just couldn't score until Blackwell got in no matter how much he wanted it. Sharp's movement too back then wasn't as good as it is now something else Brewster can learn from.

See what Slav thinks of course but I actually think we have a bit of an embarrassment of riches in terms of strikers for Championship level.
Brewster, Mcburnie, Sharp are all capable of 15 goals +. McGoldrick is too. Moussett if he ever got himself back fit and sharp could also be v.good and then we have Jebbison as well.
Not counting Burke in this at the minute because although deployed as a striker feel he's more a wide player.

Main issue has been creating enough chances for these strikers this season.

Our side isn't as incredible as people think. We will struggle to get 10th imo

I understand your concern, but am not sure you are right.
Last time in the Championship virtually all the players had no Premiership experience and went flat out to get promoted and then survive the first season.
This time those same players may not have that same drive and would see themselves as surplus when we do get promoted as they’re clearly not now good enough for the higher league.
However some may feel that they have something to prove, to themselves if no one else and others to be signed plus youngsters will have that drive to succeed.
It make take two seasons to be really ready, but I will be happy with that.

Have you forgotten how abysmal and broken this current side is?
I think you could apply that more under CW he'd lost the will & the dressing room what ever, he wanted out this new guy Slav will have his own methods and ideas on how we'll tackle next season.

Let's remember he's our 1st ever foreign manager but he does come with pedigree of going up, we cannot expect miracles and players will leave or just see out contracts. I struggle to understand tho why every year folk say Billy will leave, if he's got summat to offer other clubs he's got it to offer us don't see him leaving.

Daft as it sounds if Fleck has a belting Euro's we may lose him I don't know, happy Lundstram gone what ever happens I think the players left will have fire in their bellies to right the wrong's of last season.
