for example, are we ready to be bottom half for the first 10 or so games?

ready for the upheaval and potential upset of some core favourites from the Wilder squad? (e.g. how we react if he lists didz/bash/sharp etc)

Are we ready for a ruthless manager to come and handle our team’s affairs, our 1st foreign manager who has no connection to the club except for them being his employer?

It’s a huge change from Wilder era, but let’s embrace both the challenges and the good times ahead. Slavs red and white wizards

I hear loads of moans about the re-cycling from wide rather than gerritintbox, that will pale compared to what will be expected. The realities of being a parachute club put a pretty set timeline on things. Year one to challenge and the second year to get up if not then clubs move on and give a new man the last year of payments on a one year brief of promotion. If that fails then clubs tend to move on again and cut their cloth whilst bringing in someone for a long term project.

i can certainly see fleck going along with egan and berge for good money others obviously will be released but think billy and didzy will be very handy experienced players to keep on the books for one last season maybe only from the bench in billys case

In early marches this is what happened. We controlled possession playing constant short passes.

I was initially impressed how we controlled matches...then I realised it’s actually mainly sideways passing.
Our attacks were too slow allowing teams to always have plenty of defenders back. Every game was 0-0 at half time.
Our football was technically excellent but there was little goal mouth action (in either box) and it was KIND OF BORING to watch.

After a few matches our crowd started moaning with cries of “gerrit forrad””
Some started booing the constant sideways passing......so Robson listened to the fans and changed the style to play it longer.
However half the team couldn’t play the long ball game....eventually they became confused with a jumbled up mess of a style of play.

At least the fans are more used to passing football now...some of the stuff we played in league 1 under Wilder was constant possesion with sideways passing.
To be honest.....if we are generally winning.....any style will be accepted.

Slav doesn't play the Weir or Robson way and also wouldn't try to get people like Morgs and Monty to play outside their comfort zone (players I massively respected incidentally).

I get the feeling Slav doesn't do compromise

Seeing his Fulham side, the passing had to have purpose and create momentum. Also football has moved on a bit from the Robson era, people are more used to, and accepting, of the possession based game and the best team around at the moment play that way. Having said that, the first 8-10 games could be a bumpy ride.

Bassett had no connection to the Club when he arrived, but he didn’t do too badly.

very much doubt most blades fans would be dissapointed if mitrovic came in garaunteed 20 plus goals in the championship yes like you i hate all this cheating and diving but im afraid its very much part of the modern game

It will be interesting to see how we cope with that. I'm generally pretty patient with ball possession as long as it's not the totally pointless stuff we saw under Adkins. Many who sit around me on the kop, less so. Fulham were 17th in November when they came to the Lane for the 5-4 game. I suspect he'll be getting pelters well before then if we have a similar start.

The Serb will want to strengthen the squad not weaken it !,,the players you think will go have to be replaced! They're all under contract so unless we can get the money in for them ! I cant see them going.
Berge will go if the offers a good one! Cant see any premiership clubs taking any of the others.
It all revolves around what the serb thinks really, Cant see him ripping the heart out of the squad unless his budget gives him the freedom to do so

To be honest.....if we are generally winning.....any style will be accepted.

Robson’s biggest problem was that we spent decent money but our results didn’t reflect that. He also made a few poor man management decisions in keeping players who weren’t suited to his system like Morgs and Monty whilst getting rid of players who might have fitted in, like CKR and Legsofwood.

The bottom line is, he was crap. We had videos of us passing the ball 20+ times to create a goal under Wilder, which everyone got excited about, there’s no resistance to passing football at the Lane, just crap, ineffective football, whether that’s served up by Robson or Blackwell.
