All the posts saying Ramsdale is not worth 18.5. How much would you have paid for Henderson. if you think about it we got a bargin

We could probably sell the stadium and bought Henderson.

Henderson is easy £60m today. I wouldn't be shocked if he went for £75m if Kepa cost that much.

He shouldn't be worth more than Allison and Ederson, but when you look at who owns him and the English player premium, you have to imagine they could ask that much and not get laughed at.

If you paid on what they should be worth, £35/40m

Will get laughed at but could easy see him ending up with 100 England caps. Once he gets a run in a "big team" it will be easier to get an England starting spot, then could easily see him holding it downs for years.

He's just got Pope to think about really, but has 5 years on him so he could certainly get well over 50. We all know Pickford is on his arse, as soon as Southgate gets sacked after England are knocked out of the Euros in the last 16 again, Deano and Pope are fighting it out.

£60m, really? £30m max, probably closer to £20m as it stands.

With the market as it is? Absolutely.

He's not worth that, I don't think anyone is to be honest, but football is crazy town.

he is worth what someone is prepare to pay.

footballers are still going for silly, silly money (Dunk for £40m!) and there appears to be a scarce number of top quality players in the GK position as shown by the present England no:1.

Someone would pay £50m for him because quality costs and Henderson has shown (up to now) that he is serious potential plus the bar has been set by Kepa's silly transfer figure - but that is where the market is presently at, COVID-19 or not COVID-19.

If Chelsea were prepared to pay £170,000 per week, that sort of wage commands a very high transfer figure.

Up to now, Henderson has done everything to suggest someone would pay big money.

people can say all they want about players not being worth these figures - they've been saying it since Trevor Francis was the first £1m footballer, but it never stops.

I'd have bid £30m for him. Test the water, see how they respond. Then if they ask for me and we can't afford it, at least we're all satisfied with the club trying to show ambition and we go to another option.

Not knocking Ramsdale here but £20m?! Seriously?!

Ramsdale just been relegated-Henderson pushing for Europe
Ramsdale on about £20k pw, Henderson agreed new £100k contract
Ramsdale owned by club averaging 12k home gates and need money following relegation- Henderson 70k gates and one of richest clubs in the world

I’m sure if Henderson was available for £1.5m more than Ramsdale CW would have made it happen

Genuinely think ManU wouldn’t sell, or it would take stupid money, and I mean £50m^ to get him.

Good luck to both of them, except when Henderson plays us, I hope he throws one in for the lads who helped him rise from Shrewsbury to the brink of Europe and England

Well I guess we’ll see. I never bought the Chelsea offer as anything more than paper talk by either his agent or Chelsea trying to force someone else to commit.
The fact is that Chelsea and Tottenham are the only top half PL side that are desperate for a keeper and they were interested apparently.
Let’s see how many actually make a move, and if this £170,000 a week is offered, my guess is will be neither will be. As good as his potential may be, he’s not worth that kind of money, and if he wasn’t at Man Utd he wouldn’t be getting £100,000. Chelsea in particular are after a top level keeper and Hendos not in that bracket yet.

No chance. Would be far closer to £60m than £20m.
If he was the established England number 1, then you're looking at closer to £60m but not as it stands. Even Pickford might not even go for as much as that now. I could be wrong, but as it stands it's probably similar to what Pickford went for a few years ago, £25m. Perhaps you could stretch that to £30m to account for changes in the market. Maybe there's a distinction between real worth and what someone would pay, or perhaps they are one and the same.

2 questions for you:
  • In terms of market value, is Pickford worth more than Henderson?
  • If Henderson is only worth between £25-30m, why haven't Chelsea bought him yet?

People seem to be using logic by giving linear valuations but football doesn’t work like that.

Lets say Ramsdale is an average PL standard goalie worth 20 million and £25K a week wages.
Theres a thin dividing line between success and fsilure.
Theres a thin dividing line between receiving 100 million in prize money and receivino nothing.

So even if Henderson is only 10% better than Ramsdale that slight improvement might mean an extra 3 points over a season compared to Ramsdsle.
An extra e points to Sheff Utd is probabky worth nothing because realistically we are unlikely the be in Europe or relegated.
However an extra 3 points to Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal is priceless and could be the differences between winning honours or earning millions in the champions league.

Players are worth what clubs are willing to pay.....
For Sheff Utd Henderson is not worth 30 million and £80K a week wages....makes no financial business sense.
but for Man Utd is looks like Henderson will be worth at least 50 million and £120K a week wages.

So eventhough Henderson and Ramsdale are of a similar standard....with a Henderson edging it....in the market Henderson is worth more than double.

talk about the Brayford obsession again, its happening with Henderson now. The club has moved on from him now, And he wants to play for Man U, Not us. Thankyou Hendo for everything but goodbye and welcome back Ramsdale.

Sell him to us for £20m on £25,000/ week from us and guarantee buy back at +£5m / season to manure.

Playing for a London club would not only give Hendo a far better chance of playing for England than playing for us, it would also save him a fortune in bus fares if he did....... :tumbleweed:

147 saves for Rammers this Premiership season 2nd only to Sam Johnstone of West Brom. Works out at nearly 4 a match. Hendo in 2019/20 season made 97 in a similar game minutes which is only a small part of the seasons story but if you didn't follow it and just looked at the stats 50 more saves in a season for your number 1 is a tale in itself

With Ramsdale ready to take over in a few years’ time !

The reason he made more saves is a failure on behalf of our defence, not just a pat on the back to Ramsdale - whoever you put behind our defence this season, if they were a half decent shot stopper would have made more saves, simply due to the number of shots peppered at them

The telling stat in my opinion is goal bound shots saved percentage

If you add up goals conceded (63)and shots saved (147) Ramsdale saw 210 goal bound efforts, saving 147 giving a shot/save percentage of 70%
Henderson conceded (39) and saved (97) giving him a total of 136 efforts on target, saving 97 which is a save percentage of 71%

So not much between the 2 in terms of shots saved

The more telling stat is the we saw a 65% increase in shots on target received............

Think that tale is something to do with how much our defence has dropped off from last season to this. Ramsdale has been absolutely peppered at times this season whereas Henderson used to be much better protected.

Used to remember Hendo making at least one absolutely huge save every other game while everything else was relatively routine. Rammers has been far more exposed and has been required to make big saves on a more regular basis.

Actually think it’s helped him a bit more because my biggest criticism at the start of the season was that he didn’t look that comfortable with the basics. Pleased for him that he’s turned it round so well.

Has Henderson actually improved his reputation this year? It seems as though his weaknesses have been exposed and he has made a few errors. Maybe he wasn’t quite ready for Man Utd’s first team and it is interesting that they are linked to new keepers.
Maybe, after his very dodgy start, we have ended up with the better deal
