McGoldrick

I agree but if Stevens had passed earlier for McG to run on to he might have scored. As it was the pass was delayed and ended up too close to him to get a decent strike on it.
He got a decent strike on it a very decent strike , he dragged it wide and it's unforgivable for a premier League footballer not to make a keeper work from there, he missed a sitter against Chelsea in cup , I recall him going around the keeper last season and missing an open goal , his end product ie finishing has been consistently poor, u can try to blame the pass rather than look at the facts as a top division forward his finishing is poor and has cost us points ,

For clarity and before you get ripped a new one, are you still talking about Mcgoldrick? There's plenty of players to have a pop at if that's your thing but Mcgoldrick isn't one of them. If you want to watch football with few mistakes fuck off to the Etihad.
I'm not talking mistakes I'm talking not being very good at finishing , that's his weak point in his game I think most fans would agree, which if u are a centre half is acceptable if however you are a forward it's a problem , would we accept a keeper that had a great all around game but saving shots was his weakness ?

Of all the players to criticise you’re firing shots at didzy 😂.

Jesus christ!
Yep I am as a striker , forward , goalscorer he is there to be shot at , the header against Chelsea in cup is the equivalent of Chris woods letting it through his legs in relative terms of position ie completely unforgivable

Do you think he's in the team for his finishing ability or for his link up play and effort? True he misses chances but why is it he's always in the right place at the right time? He absolutely oozes class and has been the one bright spark in an otherwise torrid season (Ramsdales improved form apart). When Didzy is on his game we're always in with a shout, without him we're abysmal. Have you actually watched him play for the last 3 seasons? If you want someone to stick it in the back of the net you need to be questioning Brewster, Mcburnie and Mousset.

I agree with all that but the delay by Stevens typified most of our passing this season: too slow and too deliberate

spot on slow ponderous play safe tippy tappy football weve played this way all season however think goldie and billy even at 34 will have a big part to play next season in the championship even if its only from the bench

I was amazed with his ability last season and he was a central cog in our system
But he's scored is it 7 this season and somehow is our top scorer. Yet there's been 1 or 2 golden chances gone begging in nearly every game.
His conversion of gilt edge opportunities is frighteningly bad.
He's coming up 34 so it's time to find a replacement to take us up and back into the prem . Sentiment can cloud our aim. He's done well for us but it's time for us to change.
When all's said and done not scoring 20 goals as a team needs addressing. Football has harsh realities. When things don't work you go back to the drawing board

Yes I've watched him play and whilst I agree he is good on the ball and his link up play is decent you cannot get away from the fact his finishing is poor , it's not good enough, my point is that the mentality of well he's not in for his finishing or if he could finish he wouldn't be with us is the reason why we are where we are, Lundstram and Norwood and others get absolute peters , if I were to say well If Lundstram and Norwood ( both midfielders) could pass and tackle they wouldn't be playing for us it would be an absolutely laughable thing to say but with mcgoldrick ( refuse to call him didzy as I grew up with a nickname and if someone I had never met called me by it , it made me feel really uncomfortable, if anyone has had a nickname you will relate) it seems acceptable , well it isn't, and I can bet a few quid that most that love mcgoldrick would be the same people that 15-20 years ago were calling heskey useless when he played for England and Liverpool

Even the top strikers miss sitters. They dont all convert every chance. Didzy is not a top striker, hes a competent striker and a decent/good 10. I dont think many would argue you couldnt find a better out and out goal scorer but they would be useless in this team as we create fuck all.

He could have notched a few more but then so should the rest of the team. He could be better but can’t they all. As our best player i think the criticism is unjust personally.

I like didzy an agree on the ball he's our best player, but alot of people talking about his link up? Can you people put some facts and stats to this link up play? Because I don't see many chances created from this so called link up play, I'm not slating didzy here I'm asking you people to actually post some facts and stats of this link up play.

Please don’t quote any stats from this horrendous season better still have a look at his stats on Wikipedia they ain’t good
You said he wasn't a striker. I'm merely pointing out he's struck more than any other player.

Is there any other striker/attacking midfielder that has missed as many clear open chances like McGoldrick has again this evening at St James Pk 7th minute and that golden chance wasted at Stamford Bridge in FA cup game earlier in season. He may be our leading scoring this season but he has to be one of the worst at finishes chances

We haven’t got anyone who resembles a striker and even in our first year we relied on goals from midfield

Can't wait to hear what you think of mousett , McBurnie , burke , and fucking Brewster... ...

Give me 33 year mcgoldrick and 34 year old sharp any day of the week over any the above lads 10 years there junior ..
Yep the first mentioned have been fucking wank the latter two are past it.
We need a complete overall

Didzy has certainly been almost undroppable for us, HOWEVER... if Slav has a younger and more clinical link-up forward in mind, who's within our price bracket (probably overseas) do we just discount them and say Didzy has to continue to be picked in the Championship?

Especially if we're looking at the squad when we come back up and Didzy being 35 by then..

Some of you lot never learn.

cant wait to dig out Brewster and McB. Bet you’re the same clowns who were all over Ramsdale stating he was dire, shit, worst keeper we’ve ever had etc etc....it’s the worst part of the game having to read and listen to fucking idiot fans.

Turns out that...oh yeah...Ramsdale is pretty fucking good after all and just needed to settle and get some confidence. Let’s see what happens with Brewster and McB because both of them have managed to score quite a few goals in the league we are heading to. Getting on em, whether in the ground or wherever certainly ain’t going to help.

The minute Didz is dropped he will be done. He’s keeping going and maintaining fitness because he’s playing every week.
There has to be a role for him next season, and if we can tighten that defence, sort midfield and get some fitness and intensity as well as quality back, then no reason why Didsy can’t have a free role much like Duffy had.
I personally think we need McB and Brewster leading the line and we will bag loads in the championship.

15 goals last time he was in the championship and i think he’s improved since then. If we go to a 4-3-1-2 and start playing proper football again Didzy will put up serious numbers next year and hopefully so will the other strikers. Think it’s vital we sign a proper number 10 though

Yes our strikers didn't bag many this season but the midfielders where were they.

Berge managed 1 goal before he was injured for the season as well as Osborn chipped in with 1 goal.

Fleck, Norwood, Lundstram, zero. between the three of them.

And how many points has he gained us? He was player of the year in a promotion season. He was excellent last year and far and away our best player this year.

Yes his finishing isn’t great but it’s ridiculous to have a go at our top scorer. If he could finish like Billy, he wouldn’t be playing for us, that’s for sure.

He misses more because he’s clever enough to get into the right positions. If you want a striker to have a go at, try the one who is 10 years younger, scored once this season, cost £20m more and spends his injured time beating kids up on street corners :)

You can always look at things 2 ways, yes hes missed more chances than any other player in the team both this season and last, but, what that means to me hes getting into positions that no other player in the team are getting into, so although we can criticise his scoring rate we must criticise all the other strikers for never getting in the position to miss/score

With some decent service from midfield next season, I think Didzy will have an important role to play. I hope Brewster and McBurnie get their shooting boots on in the Championship to become the first choice partnership, with Billy and Didzy offering impact from the bench.
