McBurnie Video

Well no, it'd go more like...

"Hi, I'm the lawyer of a Premier League footballer who is being consistently stalked and harassed despite repeatedly telling them to leave him alone. They live in Knaresborough and this is what they look like"

"Ok, we'll send an officer to take a statement and then get them in for questioning"

And then, given the evidence on their own phones, they'd likely be hit with an injunction or restraining order.
Don't forget though that the police would have to spend a good couple of hours checking to make sure the naughty boys were 14-years-old or not.

Great news. I can forget about the video and go back to thinking he’s shit & not wanting him anywhere near BDTBL next season. 👍

He terrorised us when he was at Swansea and scored a decent number that season too. I think Oli McBurnie without his back to goal would be like a new signing, it's not like anyone in our striker dept. has thrived at United in the Premier League.

If we could get service to him (Wing backs who can cross and a Duffy mk2) he could be very good for us next year.

Suggesting footballers should stay at home and have no social life to avoid trouble is as ridiculous as saying they shouldn't use social media so they can't get abuse.

They have as much right to enjoy life and use social media without being abused as anyone else does.
I don’t understand why footballers can’t enjoy using social media in exactly the same way as anyone else, without the risk of any sort of abuse by simply using a pseudonym ?

Beautifully written Elliott, well done. It's that good, it's almost as if someone else (like a legal professional, for example) had written it.
I find it difficult to believe it was you slurring at Mr McBurnie and calling him a fucking shit cunt now. There must be some mistake

Almost tempted to offer Mark Duffy another year
The spat with Chris reminded me of the old saying. ‘Cut your nose off to spite your face’

Putting aside the "offence" as it is innocent until proven guilty and all that. For me any professional footballer needs to have a long hard look at themselves by putting himself in that situation. He is supposed to be recovering from a fractured foot injury he should be concentrating on rehabilitation on the injury rather than going out drinking in North Yorkshire. (Knaresborough is a town with alot of pubs in close proximity quite a lot of Leeds fans there) There is still a drinking culture in the British game where I think they could do themselves alot of favours by staying at home.

He’s hardly painting the town red in a place like Knaresborough.

Alot of them are "brands" rather than just footballers, their social media following often allows them to gain extra income by promoting products or wearing clothes from certain brands etc... I'd guess a lot of them also have private social media accounts to keep in touch with close friends/family too, which they may use a pseudonym for.

They do, but I highly doubt they can actually enjoy it whether they are anonymous or not. The abuse might not be directly at them them but they'll still see people being abusive about them.

Oli has 100% read the absolute shite that some have posted about him on here but I'm sure he recognises the real Blades that support him and also the real Blades that maybe aren't fans of his that still manage to keep it respectful, and can separate them from those that don't offer anything except childish insults who are no better than Elliot

1) They're not There

2) Fact is he is guilty. I think everyone knew before 2nd video surfaced there was more to it, but like I said previous.. if the coppers had seen Oli laying into that prick he would be in the back of their wagon without hesitation. Why? Because what Oli did was against against the law plain and simple. Police aren't going to look the other way just because he was getting verbal grief.

Or are you saying footballers can take the law into their own hands because they get more grief than most?

Like others have said he's just lucky the other lads didn't have a weapon on them.

It's against the law to give people grief. If the police were there they should have nicked the lad before it escalated.

I think Callum 'O Hare would be a good signing for the old Duffy role . Mcgoldrick can do a decent hour there aswl Utb

I'm pretty sure that you are not. I always tell the kids I teach that you can't. I could have just been talking bullshit though.

I believe you can unless you're on private property and been told not to, or in certain restricted places e.g. military bases.

Always providing your reason for taking a photograph is reasonable within the law. Also, media should not be shared unless with consent.

I can't imagine how anyone would be at all interested in any more public statements by Elliot in any case.

Social media effectively gives a voice to any idiot who feels the world is interested in what they have to say.

Social media has its valid uses. But cases such as this and the fact that mobile phones are impossible for some to put down and give a sense of empowerment to those without power detract from our society. I try to use it sparingly (e.g.. to catch up with Blades news) but it's a fine balance for me if "social media" and "enjoyment" are compatible. The phrase "opium of the masses" comes to mind.

So "that petulant insurance wanker child prick with “Leeds alpha syndrome” deserved so much more than a lightly bruised black eye for what he did", but it's OK for you to talk shit about "the chav" and "Lungbrains"? Why is that? What makes you special?

Oli has a huge part to play if we do the sensible thing and play to his strengths. Yes he wins a lot of headers but that's not what he does best, it's just that long balls are an easy option for players low on confidence. He's a goalscorer but goalscorers need service. Watch his goals for Swansea and Barnsley, the majority are scored with his feet when he gets the service.

Same with Brewster. Liverpool fans were saying he was on of the best/most natural finishers they've ever seen, but we've not given him anything to finish!

Oli and Rhian up top for me next season, with some money spent on a creative midfielder.
Lundstram or Lungbrain definitely needs to go!

Agree Brewster has potential and even better if we get a decent backup player to step in during Ramadan when energy levels are running low.....

Re Mcb (the only player I’ve ever seen injure themselves fake diving) if he only scores 1 goal again next season will you blame the lack of service again? From what I’ve seen the ball mostly bounces off the back of his ankles when he is “serviced” or is that wrong type of service?

The cringe embarrassment off the pitch - Drink driving & showing off in Leeds, bucket hat days out in wales and now this in knaresborough, a small gobshite town which is a 1.5 hour drive away. Where is the commitment to at the very least be a dick in Sheffield, the place where most of the fans who effectively collectively pay his £1.5mil PA wages live?

Could be the first baby step towards getting more than 1% of the fan base to actually like him.

There is no law stating that you can't take photographs in public. This includes taking photos that include other people's children or taking photos of children directly. An offence will, however, have been committed if the photographs taken are indecent.
Good point.
As all the auditor vids on YouTube testify, Photography Is Not a Crime.
PINAC.

Dear Oliver Mcburnie
Football fans are well known to be a very fickle bunch , rip it up in the championship next season and all the haters will be fighting amongst themselves to buy you a pint in ter copthorne .
Get your head down grow up and make this happen (Become a legend)
Cheers hopefully see you next year arms aloft stood in front of kop

Obviously ruffled a few....... Which is good for a debate and opinion forum?

Mcburnie is on £1.5millon a year if I was on that salary I could quite easily kill the social life to concentrate on getting back fit and being ready for preseason working on weights and rowing machine etc. It's easy to remove yourself from a situation and don't rise to it, granted there could have been an assault on him first and what you are actually seeing is him acting in self defence however it doesn't appear that way. We will wait to see the outcome of his arrest however it doesn't do anything PR wise for a club looking for a new manager
Don't you think he's doing all the rehab ,he hasn't been told off you go Oli see you next season . Everybody needs a social life it's called work life balance .
And as for the vid the scum doing the gobbing off got exactly what he deserved .

I have no idea what his rehab plan is but I would be doing everything I could to be the fittest player in the side as the injury should have healed by then. I don't disagree that he deserved what he got but as a pro footballer you are representing a brand, sponsors and more he could have been a bit more savvy and moved on.

So you haven't a clue what the rehab plan is for McBurnie yet you know he isn't doing everything he can to be the fittest player in the team. I've heard some bollocks in my time and this is right up there with the best.
