Begs the question how on Earth Burke became a professional footballer, when there are so many much more talented kids that never make it that far. 🤔

Burke is not and never will be a striker, silly to try and shoehorn him into that role. Play him out wide where he has more time and space and can see more of the pitch and he will tear championship fullbacks to pieces, his final product will need work but I guarantee if we played him RW he would get 10-15 crosses in per game and the law of averages would hope that 1 of those was decent 😂.

Few would buy any of our strikers. Soooo crap. But we need them off our books. How about offering Brewster for say £15m and buyers get Burke, McB, Moose for free, and if purchased before 30th May, we’d throw in Norwood too.

Good idea?
Why do we need two players who’ve scored one goal every two games at championship level off our books before we start our season in the championship?

I'd get rid of Moose and Burke tomorrow one can't be arsed to be a footballer the other one doesn't have the talent to be one.

I think 4 of our strikers will do OK in the division below.

Moose is a right off IMO and Burke isn't a forward.

Midfield is where we gave bigger problems. A mate of mine pointed out that generally our strikers create chances for defenders who tend to miss and our defenders get very little cover from midfield.

It's a toxic mess

So you disagree he should be in the squad then??
Yes I do. At 17 he has a lot of learning to do and certainly a lot of development to go through. On seeing him for 30 minutes you want to put him straight into the squad,a squad we are hoping will get us back into the Premiership. Let him develop and introduce him to the squad when he’s ready. Only my opinion but 16:17:18 year olds in any trade have to be nurtured and taught. Hope I’m wrong.

He will be 18 by next season, and after watching the squad this season, I believe we need all the help we can get!!
I hope I'm wrong, but on this season's showing, with the same players, do you honestly think we will be going straight back up to the premier!?, seriously!?, if you do, then tell me what your drinking and I'm off out to buy a year's worth!
We need to build this next season with a view to pushing for it the season after, exactly like we did last time we were in the championship, and by then, Jebbison will be 20!, and if he stays and plays, will hopefully have formed an understanding of whomever he gets paired with up top, be it from the bench or from the off.
We need to use our youngsters, hes made his premier debut, so there has to be something there doesn't there???

I’m with you apart from putting youngsters in the squad. The current squad are at best mid table championship:if lucks with us. I really hope he turns out to be a gem but putting him a squad low on everything could destroy his career. You must know what Blades fans are like, one bad performance they will be all over him like a rash.
I wrote months ago this squad needs a big clean out and not picked through rose tinted glasses or favouritism ,which to me seems to have been happening all this season. But to be honest Chris Wilder has left us with a very ,very poor back up squad. Ney:squad full stop.
So back to putting Jebbison in the squad, not for me. Full clear out of aging players and poor players deffo. The new manager whoever it is has a momnumental task on his/ her ( as we must these days) hands to compete and try to get us back to the Premier league and one 17 year old lad on 30 minutes showing isn’t the answer. Only my opinion, change my mind.

For me Mousset has obvious talent but he’s blinded by the lights. No chance he’s taking a pay cut as I’d assume his contract stipulates. He will be off to whoever can afford to pay his Lamborghini insurance.

Shame it never clicked and stuck because there is a player in there I think one thing that Wilder will forever be tarnished with is taking too many chances on “misunderstood potential” the club will have learnt its lesson and will cut lose in the future I’d say.

True and also false. We are dropping to a level where Brewster/McBurnie/Dids/Billy are proven at, they all average around a goal every 2 games.

Averaged before the willy shrinking experience of 2020/2021.

Expecting these players to automatically reach previous heights is incredibly naïve.

Well unless we sell Berge, and Ramsdale as rumoured, I don't think the money will be there to majorly overhaul anything.
We need a manager, that's going to cost for Jankovic for example, then we have a load of shit that we've over paid for, that are worth next to fuck all after the shambles that's been this season.
We need to make use of the tools we have, and for me, Jebbison, Brunt, RND, Slater, are the kind of young talent we need to bring on, with a view to the future.
We cant handle them all with kid gloves, they want to play at the highest level, then they need to step up and make it happen, there have been and will be younger players coming through at other clubs, we need to use them now.

Burke reminds me of a young Adama Traore. (I realise there is only a year between their actual ages) Only in the last season or two has Traore really flushed as a player and started showing his quality. For years before that he was a speed merchant who looked like he didnt know what to do once he got the ball. Then he started to learn where the goal was but relied almost entirely on his pace to score. Recently he's shown how good he can be playing out wide for Wolves. Now I don't expect or think that Burke will ever be the same level as Traore but with some good coaching and willingness to learn on his part I think there could be a reasonable player there. I agree that he needs to be moved out wide though for his own good, he'd be much better as a winger as I think he was much better when playing wide for alaves.

Whenever I log onto this forum, I can guarantee that there’s someone who seen a player look alright for 20 minutes and wants to build the team around him :) Now its Jebbison and hoping someone builds and understanding with him

Someone said the same about Connor Washington one year.

This season’s showing is not necessarily reflective of what will happen next year at a lower standard. How bad we were in the PL doesn’t mean we’re not good enough for the Championship. Look at Norwich.

Rhian Brewster is a very technically gifted footballer and he will get plenty next year.

I agree with that observation, it’s understandable, sometimes it comes from a desire to try something new after seeing game after game of dross performances and defeats.

However, my opinion of his debut was that he clearly showed he has a footballing brain, he was taking up some very good positions, looked after correctly he looks an excellent prospect.

So Jebbison = potential. Well Chris Wilder just spent £23 million on potential and for us, so far, that remains latent. We’ve accommodated potential into a Premier League season countless times and so I cannot see a reason why Jebbison could not be part of the squad.

Unfortunately Burke isn’t among the goals, so the new manager is either going to have to accomodate him out wide or maybe he’ll move on

Mousset, good footballer in there, if treated right? Point is, could a new manager be bothered to get him going, and how many matches would have to slip past waiting for the experiment to work/fail? For example, Steve Bruce stubbornly tried to do this with Gabby Agbonlahor in the Championship, he couldn’t get a tune out of him and plenty of points were dropped during the process.

For me, Mousset and Burke might leave, Brewster will come good, keep McBurnie and Sharp with Didzy deeper and give Jebbinson a squad number.

Incidentally, if Ramsdale were to go, would you take back Jamal Blackman from the Millers?

There is nothing wrong with giving Jebbison a squad number next season but he has only shown potential in a 30 min cameo. It was a free hit for him knowing that whatever he did wouldn’t go against him as we have been shite this season. There will be games that we could throw him into next season dependent on how we are performing and where we are in the table, but he should be managed accordingly and left to develop properly, no need to rush him. He has everything to suggest he could be quite an asset in the future but let’s not put pressure on him when we know we have forwards good enough for the Championship already. Will be interesting to see how he develops though.

How many goals had this lot got this season between them , just asking for a mate who has a football club and may be interested like ...

Obviously you haven't read the entire contents of the discussion then.
I was nearly saying that we should be using our young talent ourselves with a view to the future.
Nobody has mentioned building a team around anybody, but for 4 or 5 of our young players to be around the first team squad and maybe given a chance in it next season.
If you think that's a bad idea fine, but don't try being a twat about it.

I mean, your post literally says that the season after next, Jebison will hopefully have formed an understanding with whoever he’s paired with.

We have £40m of strikers who are both older and more experienced than him and have scored one in two at that level, McBurnie and Brewster.

To talk about rebuilding with someone who’s played 25 minutes is absurd. Not trying to be a twat ;)

The real problem is how and who is going to create chances for them within this current system?

The only striker I would look to offload is Burke, he's not a footballer in anyway shape or form.

I'd keep Moose based on the fact we know there is a serious player in there somewhere, we've seen flashes of it. If the new manager can get this on a consistant basis we have a real talent on our hands.
Also get him off the treatment table and get him to play longer than 45 bloody mins.

I know what you are saying but I just think he's been mis-managed. A player that can smash Man U like he did last season has talent.

Mentally he's collapsed, be interesting what the new manager thinks and how he unlocks his ability?

Don't know about mis-managed, he was a project (risk) when CWAK took him on and they managed him very well and got the best out of him for a short while. Has to be a two way thing though and I'm not convinced it was.

I'd love to see him tearing the championship a new one next season but I can't see it happening somehow.

Burke is terrible, worst signing of CW’s tenure IMHO. I’d also jettison Mousset as his time has passed.

A front four of McB, Brewster, McG and Sharp (if he doesn’t retire) plus cameo from Jebbison is more than good enough at the top end of the Champ. To reiterate Kieffer Moore (ex Millers carthorse) has the neck end of 20 goals this season. It’s a huge drop off in standard.

The gap between the Premiership and Championship is vastly increasing at a worrying rate. 15 years ago you were safe from relegation at "the magic 43 points" and it often went to the last game of the season with the same relegation coverage on MOTD. That has been decreasing ever since this season, 37 points sees you safe with 3 games to play. So you could safely say at least 10 points less sees you safe now (based on games left). There have been a few clubs that have broken the yoyo cycle like Wolves, Leicester and Southampton (just) but all 3 have had masses of money pumped in, foreign imports that have worked and stability of some sorts. The strikers we have got now most will do well in the Championship but we need to review that again if we did go up next season. The it will be great to win every week 4-3 but I don't think my nerves can take it so sort out the midfield/defence problem first in my view.

If hes not going to be in our first team squad, then maybe he will be in someonelse's??
