Genuinely injured?
Fall out with Micky?
Appearance fee in his contract preventing him from playing?
Signing for someone else and not risking him?

Or, all of the above?

Whats happening with our Ched?

Good riddance. For £3 million and £20k a week, the returns on that money has been miminal.

I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I would have thought they'd be wrapping him in cotton wool so we can sell him, rather than playing him in a bunch of dead rubbers.

Signed a pre-contract agreement with Norwich is the talk in these parts, be gutted to see him go, but we can't afford those wages in div 3.

Gutted? Why? His goal return for what we paid and do pay is atrocious. A big part in why we are where we are.

I like him personally, but think the price tag has just fucked him, too much expectation because of it and I think the pressure because of it has been too much for him.

For the record, no he certainly was not worth what we paid for him, we were robbed blind for a relatively untried and untested young'un.

He has no brain and needs wet nursing through a game.
Cannot play as a single striker cos he has no clue what to do.
If he is in a front two with a more experienced partner (not Hendo or Creswell who are both experienced but not really that good) then he might score some goals. I think Vokes showed more about himself in the cameo he had for us this season than Evans has in all the time he has been here.
Evans makes runs that offer nothing. His anticipation for where the ball is going to land is nil. All good strikers have the ability to anticipate how the play will pan out but Evans does not seem to have this nack at all. You compare hime with someone like Phillips at Brum - chalk and cheese.
He has a decent strike on him but that's about it.

I do wish people would stop saying we paid £3 million for him. We paid around £1m up front and the rest of the payments would total up to £3m. Clearly we don't want to spend any more money on him so he's out the door before we trigger the next payment.

Anyway; the font that is wikipedia states: "On 14th April 2011 Evans was transfer listed by Blades manager Micky Adams. With the Blades destined for League 1 football next year, Adams said he was surplus to requirements at the club and claimed the youth team will be used in the future."

Translation: He's too expensive for League One and we don't want to spend any more money on his payments.

Won't we become liable for what we haven't paid yet, if we sell him?

Have you ever seen him play?

He's a far better player than you blindly state he is. We haven't seen his best and probably never will.

I've seen him several times, and i've always been disappointed by him. He is not a £3m pound player, he is worth about £100k at best, but he has got the expensive contract, and we have got the liabilty,

No; we're only liable for stipulations which he achieved during his stay at the lane so if £500,000 was due after promotion or 200 games played we won't have to pay for this.

Swiss, why do you feel you have to respond so aggressively to people's comments? It's not a case of 'blindly' stating he's not been good enough it's based on Ched's overall contribution considering what we paid for him. For whatever the reason and by any measure he has been a disappointment. I think the 'blind' bit is surely your comment about him being a far better player than we think he is even though we havent ever seen it. Bizarre.

Yes Swiss. Many times. Each time I see someone that couldn't lace Edwards boots.
In fact I think even Luton Shelton would have contributed more in the Champ than Evans has.
Look at his goals to games record. If you look at chances on target I'll bet this will be relatively low for a player in his position as well. When Adams has referred to people not being brave at attacking corners who do you think he was referring to?

Keep taking the happy pills feller.
You not getting it at home today or summat?

What was aggressive about it? Yes he's been disappointing at times, but i'm more disappointed that Ched has always been the fall guy (much like Billy was). He's a far better footballer than so many think. When Micky first came we saw some excellent displays from Ched alongside Vokes and Bent because he complimented their style.

We're back to the old comparison of how he plays to what we paid for him, which i disagree with, Jamie Ward was always excused because he was cheap.

Not Jamie Ward the messiah ,as soon as they leave the usual suspects hail tham as worldbeaters. Nosworthy for England ?

Just to be clear, you actually believe that the amount paid for a player is no reflection of his supposed ability or the expectations of him?
Ched Evans hid for a season, tried a bit harder this season and was still a below average Championship striker.
Our club has paid him £20k a week for that on top of his transfer fee.
He's part of the reason our club is in the state it is.

I don't pay his wages, I have no input to contract dealings why would I care what we paid for him or what we pay him weekly?

Thought that was my point! Although I would say acceptable rather than excellent. To be excellent he would have had to score some goals - and I dont mean 3-4 in a spell over 6-7 games and then go quiet again.

Evans needs others with him but when you are paid that much you should actually have some other qualities and further dimensions to your game otherwise you cannot justify the fee (whether that was £1m or £3m it does not matter) or the wages you are on. Vokes showed more to me in 2 and a bit games than Ched has in all the time he has been with us.

Tool. Because it prevents us having somebody else or several others in the squad that are more useful than a chocolate fire guard.
If your highest paid, star striker is firing blanks all the time where do you go from there - he cannot balme everyone else in the team - he has had chances and odften fails to hit the target.

Swiss to replace Trevor Birch - then we can be really pissed.

In fairness to Ched, he's picked up injuries and illness just as he was coming into form.

Ched didn't set his transfer fee, so for me that's irrelevant. The point for me is does he do the job for the team and I think yes. You think no. But to say he needs wet nursing through at game is ridiculous.

You say he can't play as a lone striker and I agree. So why do we play him as a lone striker, he's not that type of player, but perhaps Vokes and Henderson are. Ched needs the ball into feet, likes the give and go and when he can open up the oppo defence. He doesn't need the long ball. I'm sure Ched will admit he's poor in the air, so thats the area he needs to improve on. But he has a turn of pace and has a good touch and vision.

Perhaps if the rest of the team put the ball anywhere near to where he wants it, he'd get a few more goals.

I agree that Evans needs someone to hold his hand through a game ,but ironically his best games have been when he has played the loan striker role up front. He could be a good player next season in the 1st.

Here we go! Because I don't see the relevance of the wages to performance I'm all of a sudden Trevor Birch's replacement!

When has Ched blamed everyone else? Because he's the highest paid player he has to shoulder more of the blame? v Boro Hendo (our saviour) the ball was put on a plate for Hendo, but he also failed, is he allowed more misses? Or does Ched get blamed for Hendo's misses because he's on more cash? Is Boggy allowed more misses than the pair because he's even cheaper?
