If we have to suffer this until the end of the season we are just doing more damage to the club. Get someone in now and at least show a bit of fight play the young un's if need be not the players who will not be here next season.
Only Lunstrom of the team yesterday wont be under contract for next season! So we played players who will be here next season.
Young players wont make a difference to a team who are bereft of confidence and beleaf.
The new manager will have to sort out the players who have something to offer next season some will never recover fro this dire situation.
Dont add any of the young lads to the casualties.

Agreed.

When you sack a manager you need a plan that what you do next will be better.

Its one thing to go on Sky Sports and explain yourself, your position and drop subtle digs in against the old manager.

However, you’ve then got to act smart and bring in the new man to turn things around. Keep players on their toes, get everyone that’s going to be here in august fighting for their places.

And finally, it shuts the fans up from getting on your back.

Time to make the move Prince...
He resigned and the Board probably didnt expect him to leave.

I would rather the Board take their time and get the appointment right( hopefully) as opposed to rushing in to make an appointment ( e.g. Monj or Pukis)

Won't happen. The Prince won't fund the losses for 6 years. If the next manager doesn't get us back up , the Prince will be building flats on the Lane - he's a businessman , not born in S2 like Kevin. Once he realises that any short-lived success for the Blades is followed by years of misery , he'll do the rational thing.
Yet that Blue and White shithole remains (I almost said intact then but that would be pushing it a bit).......... Name one example of a failed owner winding up a club and building flats. Unless you mean moving to a new ground but that is generally a misguided progression step, not a reaction fo failure...

Ampadu won't be here next season either, so that's 2 starters. Then on the bench Bryan is also out of contract and very doubtful Jags will play another season. He'll be 39 then.

What is it with Sheffield United our young un's never get near the team until they are around 23, other clubs put 18 year old's in. You will never know if they have what it takes if you don't play them now and again. Summat still very wrong down at the lane, certain players keep getting picked no matter how bad they play, expensive players frozen out, certain players having mystery injuries.
It need a huge clear out looking at last night line up only 4 of them cared 5 at most, the rest are just picking up their pay cheque for as little effort as possible why should they care though they are all millionaires now, most of the cunts downed tools weeks ago.

Thats not what the Prince said.

He said that he tried to resign previously, which was why the Prince decided not to release funds to him.

The final time was formally stated as "Left by mutual consent" which is generally considered as a sacking with an agreed pay off after a number of issues on both sides could not be resolved.

From what the Prince said, it was no longer a surprise

Why ? His performance over thh3 last 12 mo ths has caused the problems
He didn't cause anything. We were favourites to go down. Just finishing 4th from bottom would have made it a fantastic season.

He was hamstringed by injuries to key players, a board dictating to him what he must do (having previously given him a free hand) and no fans due to covid. We were still in there fighting when he left. We have lost every game since.

I despair of people blaming CW, and solely CW, for the past 12 months - while ignoring his overall record, covid, injuries, personal issues and a tight, board paying the lowest wages in the PL.

HRH said on numerous occasions that he planned to take a back seat and let CW get on with it. Something obviously changed. If HRH had the best interests of the club at heart, he'd have shut up given Wilder just what he wants. Instead he has caused such a massive upheaval that I doubt we will recover next season, or the one after that.

I'd have Wilder back in an instant, but I doubt the egos of Bettis and HRH would allow it.

your right injuries and covid with no fans have done for chris this season but he really hasnt helped himself by poor signings and an unbelievable stubborness not to try a different system when we were losing game after game and for me he insulted all united fans by continually insisting that the system was working

Get Wilder back in

Just a thought, but what if this "resignation" is actually just a bit of gardening leave so Wilder can get his head together ready for next season's campaign?

Before you dismiss the idea, maybe the caretaker manager is really just that, taking care of things while Wilder takes a break. Remember:

1. Knilly still there but never heard from.
2. Same dreadful tactics played
3. That flat 3 in CMF is guaranteed a start every game
4. Despite everything Lundstram still plays, and full 90 mins
5. Press conferences still blow smoke up the opposition's ring while complaining about us having "not enough quality"
6. "Fine Margins" - still the bullshit and absolutely incorrect assessment
7. CW been silent
8. After 1 interview PA been silent
9. The supposed primary candidates either can't get a work permit, or haven't even been spoken to
10. A singular lack of any positive action by the club to resolve recruitment.

Would it really surprise anyone if he came back? And maybe that was the agreement reached all along?

Nailing my colours to the mast I hope not, but this is Sheffield United so nothing ever surprises me any more

Totally different situation.

The whole point of appointing a manager mid season is to save the season.
If Sheff Wed had appointed their current manager earlier they might have stayed up.
We could have appointed Pep Guardiola at Christmas and we would still be relegated.

Think its vital the new man is given a clean slate...a fresh start with a full pre season.
If the new man started now....the losing mentality would be too strong for him....so we start next season with the new man already on a losing streak.

Only a manager desperate for a job would join us now.
Anybody with intelligence, pride and integrity would want to start when the season has ended.

It wouldn't surprise me if we already have a manager lined up who has already agreed to come and is already is discussions regards future signings and plans etc. It wouldn't suppose if a short list of future signings are already identified and lined up for next season.
I hope your right mate, at the minute I'm trying to hang on to anything what represents positivity, cos there's fuck all on the pitch!!

The longer this goes on, the more the rot sets in. It can be seen in lots of organisations, not just football, negativity, lack of interest, lack of confidence, feeling sorry for ourselves, becomes the norm and it takes a bigger impulse to arrest the momentum of that ship before turning it around. There’s been no ’new,’ manager bounce and the longer this goes on the bigger the damage. At that point there would need to be a bigger turnover of current playing staff and I can’t see that happening. If that is the case then Warnock is not that daft a proposition. I fear the next guy in is going to have it tough.

Gi oar nah, it's been done to death already Wilder walked I know it, you know it and so does the rest of the world it don't matter how you dress it up or spin it

Sorry I forgot Ampadu. Most will be here so cant have a mass exodus. A fair number will pick up the mantle next season a d have a go.
Not as bad as the results suggest.

Give over, Wilder is a bottle job who got out as soon as he could.

The club's currently drifting aimlessly and effectively chucking away games and time when a new manager could be looking at the squad and preparing for next season. That could possibly include looking at some of the younger players.
The prince talked some sense in his interview after Wilder went but what's happening now makes no sense at all. Just pointless, in every way.
How can it be pointless and senseless leaving things as they are if we haven't lined someone up yet? How can it be pointless and senseless if we have earmarked someone who is currently under contract?
Why bloody rush the appointment and end up with someone who isn't good enough and we then have to endure another season similar to this one?
What if he doesn't manage to show a great deal of improvement in these last few weeks?

Hmmmmm yes i think it is true that ''Something obviously changed'' and ''having previously given him a free hand''.
Surely though due to Wilder's shocking transfer business and wasting around £100 million, i think someone HAD to step in and start asking questions!

We were not favourites to go down with the bookies, pundits or with fans generally. Indeed, if you had the temerity to suggest after 4 games that we were going to be relegated you were shouted down.

Until our fate was sealed we had injury to key player - O’Connell. Fleck and Mousset also missed some time but that has proved not to matter given their displays since.

Injuries were a problem, yes, but the bigger problems were terrible transfer business and a collapse in form of half a dozen first choice players. The idea Wilder should bear no responsibility for these matters is ridiculous.

How can it possibly be a rush? Wilder's been going through the out door since Christmas and they must surely have been considering who might be a replacement for months now.
We don't need to see any improvement in the next few weeks but it would be sensible to get a new manager in to start preparing now for next season.
These games are a free hit and we're wasting them by treading water for no reason. Whoever comes in has a big job on their hands and giving them as long as possible makes sense.

Amazed to see how many have turned against CW after all he did for the club. He hasn't spoken publicly since his departure but HRH has. Many are happy to jump to the conclusion that he 'bottled it' after hearing just one side of the story.

It''s pointless arguing though, as many have already made their mind up..

I started watchIng the Blades in the 70s and I rate Wilder as the best manager in my lifetime. I have no doubt we would have finished in the top 6 at least, with a good chance of top 2, if we'd created the conditions to allow him to stay. But I seem to be in the minority.

I'm all for getting someone new in, but I'm guessing the club have less idea about who it will be than we do.

I'm going for hecky by default
Unless of course we have a replacement already lined up who is still under contract elsewhere until the end of the season.

I think Wilder has proven he is a one trick pony who couldn't adapt in the Big Boys League a bit like Colin. Without a doubt Basset was our best manager I know the football wasn't always pretty to watch but we did stay in the top division more than two seasons, and all done on a shoe string.
