What a miserable night

I agree. I think those who think we will be near the top of LEague 1 next year are going to get a massive shock. There is no Deane/Agana, Edwards/Morris this time. We have zero pace, zero creativity and a team of slow, plodders that basically dont give a monkeys as they have another1-2 years on their contracts.

Mid table next year would be a positive I feel. It is going to be a long, long hard road back. In my opinion Leeds, Forest, Weds etc were in a far better state in terms of personnel etc when they went down and it took many of them 2-3 years to get up. Nothign convinces me we wont be in this division or even lower for the forseeable future.

The youth team? The rebuilding has to start with some of the youngsters getting a shout.

Nothing really changed last night. We were never going to win and any hope of survival didnt rest on getting anything at QPR.

The gutting thing for me was watching the side we used to be before we systimatically disesembled the entire squad and ethos of SUFC.

QPR were very similar to SUFC teams under Warnock. High tempo, organised, together, strong spine and splashes of quality on the wings. Very effective if not spectacular.

We cant even muster one of those characteristics these days and only a few custodians remain to remind us of those better times and even they look ghosts of their former selves.

Last night was a thoroughly depressing night for this Blade. The banter over a couple of beers with some Blades fans on Goldhawk Road was immediately wiped out when I saw that Collins was starting. The gulf in class was immediately apparent and it was backs to the wall. The few hundred United fans never got going and we got out sang, out fought and out played.

I did not enjoy the game at all. I stood there thinking what affiliation do I have with those wankers in Red and White. The clowns at the back, midfielders who cannot pass a ball and strikers that barely got a touch. We weren't actually that bad and lost to a much better team. I stood for the whole 90 minutes thinking what the fuck has happened to this club and who are those wankers out there wearing Red and White.

In desperation at half time I even went to join all the thugs wearing stone island jackets to go and ubuse Kenny. But even that was meagre. Other than a hillarous chant of 'he shagged your wife (x2), then he bit your eyebrow off, he shagged your wife' the abuse was tame. As the score got worse then the abuse started to petre out and all we got was Paddy you Judas cunt, or you fat bastard/cunt from a couple of intelectually challenged individuals.

I walk back to my home in Putney Bridge (an hour away) depressed as fuck. Relegation had smacked me in the face, despite shelling out over £170 in ticket fees and god knows what in booze, travel and food United have not managed to muster a single goal in the last 6 games I have been to. We've lost the last 5 of those and conceded 11 goals. Definate low point for me. Was almost in tearsd walking home thinking about how we have fallen. I got a couple of messages trying to pick me up, but it didn't. Oh Micky will build a team. How the fuck can we expect the man who signed (permanently) Doyle and Collins to build a team fit to win League One. Dark times ahead for United :(

Actually, didn't think it was that bad tonight.
Going forward first half we were half decent and it looked a close call on a pen and sending off when Quinn went through. (Quinn was excellent again)
The obvious problems were defensively, the sheer terror they all showed when they had the ball and the likelihood of a major mistake at any given moment.
Having to play Collins again was always likely to lead to disaster and he played the man on for the first goal though there was no excuse for Nozza's marking.
Second goal needless corner, though it probably actually wasn't one, followed by a shocking clearance.
In reality, we've been relegated before tonight and even if there was to be a miracle it would only come from winning all our home games and scraping a fluke win away.
That fluke was never going to come at QPR once Lowry wasn't playing.

I totally agree with you Len, at times we passed the ball quite nicely and certainly played a lot better than we have done in the past. We even had a couple of very good chances which should have been tucked away. That said, Nozzer and Collins are poor examples of professional defenders and always looked likely to give something away. I know that they must be low in confidence but do they not learn?

Losing last night did not come as a shock so to anyone, what was evident was the look on Adams face from the very start, for all the guff spouted in the pre match interviews, as soon as the first ball was kicked he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. 4 3 3 was a bad formation against a 5 man QPR midfield full of confidence and ability. If it really was 4 5 1 then why not play the players to suite that formation?

We have to keep winning at home but i don't think Palace will let a 7 point cushion slip, particularly with their home record. The best we can hope for is those 2 great sporting words 'DE - FAULT' and that Coventry go into admin and get docked 10 points. We would still manage to fuck it up on the last day tho.....................

I've never seen a grown man look as permanently close to tears as Adams. Whilst bemoaning our lack of bottle in away games is fair enough (although it IS your job to do something about it, rather than be resigned to it) one can't help feeling his expressions and body language aren't exactly ones that will make players re-double their efforts when they look to him for encouragement/a round of fucks.

Supurb posting Hozza lad. Keep it up. I know exactly what you mean re Batho and Saturday morning - a bit of communication will keep em happy, get them hand driers in.

It was a depressing night but no more so than Scunthorpe for me. I thought the midfield and attack played in a manner which would in no way leave a side in bottom 3 of this league - not much above it I must stress but definitely contained players who are not relegation fodder - we looked OK going forward. The defence was a joke and I hold Blackwell responsible for that in terms of not building a squad when he had plenty of cash available (Evans).

Honestly never contemplated I'd see United again in 3rd tier but McCabe has achieved it with great help from Birchy and his clueless managers. It's not a matter of dummy out of pram, teams can go down as well as up but the bitter taste of property losses, 300k salaries to chief execs and even more to pathetic players which comes with this demise is almost impossible to stomach.

the big mistake was not replacing morgan with a proper signing.. stuff all of these loans.. that 'one' signing would have made all of the difference.. collins is so poor and makes so many fundamental errors that i can't help thinking he is connected to a taiwanese betting syndicate

The close up pictures last night were probably the most depressing feature of the evening (at least Nosworthy's antics had some kind of comedy value). Quinn, Lowton and Monty were the only ones up for it. The rest looked exactly like they were about to start stamping their feet, throwing a strop and whining, "It's just not faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiir!!!!!!!" Spoilt brats the lot of 'em.

I kind of feel a little sorry for Adams. There's little even a master craftsman could do with these tools.

Exactly. Adams is way out of his depth here, but going round with a face like a smacked arse and practically crying on RS is hardly inspirational for the players and fans. We've got a third-rate manager and the club is following him.

Got it in one.

Got it in one.

The defensive problems began when Killa left and wasn't replaced. We continued the trend when the Kyle's went, and low and behold when Morgs was ruled out there was still no replacement. All of a sudden, we are left very desperate, and panic buy a third rate fucking clown by the name of Collins. That is why we are where we are, a pure and simple lack of planning on the clubs behalf.

Not quite a blatant as I first read it, so for that I apologise.

No worries, I have been known to make the odd abrasive post so I can understand that.

Last night left me emotionally exhausted. I never expected us to win, have tipped us for relegation since before the season started but it's still in your blood supporting your team, wanting them to defy the odds, willing them to victory that never seems to be ours.

If only the board had half the passion of the fans then we wouldn't be in this state. It's going to be a very long time before we get our house in order, and the thought of a 3rd division derby against the scum fills me with nothing but dread.

And living in Chesterfield, I also dread losing twice again to the bent steeples.

The body language of Mick Adams sums up tonight for me. Lots of huffing and puffing but no end product, no inspiration and he looked about ready to cry and give up. I for one, honestly would not be surprised by a resignation.

he may as well finish the job of taking us down, but i hope he may be kind enough to give some kids we may use next season a go and resign once relegation is confirmed.

If Pembo is interested, League One and a blank sheet with few expectations might a decent opportunity for him.

Bogdanovich, Lowton, Quinn, Evans, Mattock and Riise are the only players worth keeping. The rest are a complete joke and should be fucked off, even if it's for free. Collins, Doyle, Montgomery and Henderson highlight everything that's bad about this club, none of them can play basic football.

FFS get back to the simple stuff for starters, ditch these footballing no marks and start again, I honestly do think we've hit rock bottom here.

Quinny had a great game, well done to him. Not much else to praise really.

Funny how we read games and players differently. I thought, although he tried hard, Quinny was exposed as a lightweight again. Saw him knocked off the ball far too easily, far too often and took a fair few of his trademark swan dives. However, Collins was shit. I'm yet to hear anyone read his performance differently.

That will be indeed a big temptation but I think that Pembo should be allowed to complete his revolution throughout the academy and make it a lasting legacy. I for one see the role of the Academy director as more important than a transient 1st team manager/coach that changes every couple of years particularly with regard to stability. I certainly would not have any qualms with a successful Academy director being on similar pay and bonuses to that of the 1st team manager and coaches.

The problem with that is that the success of the academy coach is intrinsically linked to the competence of the bloke in charge of the first team.

I agree but if we can get to the point whereby we are producing good youngsters the job of the manager should be made easier. Perhaps the Academy director should be on the interview panel for any new manager/coach? I know this approach is a sea change but a new direction and philosphy is needed at the heart of the club.

The highest level of coaching badge requires the person to know how to set-up a team for the long term via various structures such as acadamies etc over a long period of time. Ironic really in that clubs ask for this coaching qualification for the 1st team mamager/coach but give them a 3 year contract and only deal with essentially first team matters.
