I agree. It might not be technically on his CV, but everybody in the game will know he was at the helm for the vast majority of the season.

Exactly - it's hardly something you can sweep under the carpet that the next employer won't be well aware of. Which makes me think actually that it probably wasn't part of his thinking when he left.

No matter how much angst we all externalise on the matter, the fact remains we are moving on, just as he will do one day.

Can't we get back to discussing something much more beneficial like whether Billy Sharp's legs have gone or the price of programmes....

The fact remains that a large proportion of this forum don't want to/or can't move on...

Isn't it fairly standard business practice in football (and high profile business) to have NDA pay-offs which basically equate to not being able to move to a competitor with sensitive info for a period of time?

It's a trade off from the club. We pay his wages for 6 months. If he moves in that 6 month period then we get compensation or 'compensation'. It stops managers resigning and then taking a new job and the club not having to pay compensation.

He’ll do well to take home more than £1.1m with the higher tax rate of 50% over £150k. In the UK the general rule for employees is that the more tax you pay the more you earn though so he’ll be ok.

Perhaps his future club should insert a “if you get a monk on” clause in his contract? “If at any time it is possible to ‘sit on your bottom lip’ for more than a month, any compensation with regard to the termination of this service agreement will be nullified”.

So it seems Wilders pay off was £2m.
Saw an article linking Wilder to the Celtic position and it mentioned he was still getting paid by Sheffield United for the next 6 months.
It seems that Wilder was on £4m or so a year.
If he was to take the Celtic position or any other managerial job before the next 6 months his pay off would be decreased.
Do you think what he had done for us the last 5 years he deserves every penny? or do you think by deserting the team when the going got tough and engineering his escape to keep a relegation off his CV and his reputation in tact whist walking out the back door with a £2m payoff is taking the piss?
