Just watched all 14 goals
And most of them wouldn't have gone in if he'd been playing for us

4 of them were dinks over the goalie which he'd have got horrendously wrong if playing for us.

3 were shots in a crowded penalty area that would have hit McBurnie or Brewster and gone wide for a goal kick

2 were penalties, say no more.

2 were first time shots, that would never have been allowed to happen at United

1 was a shot after missing the first chance and getting a second attempt at it. That would never happen because we'd have slowed his reactions down by at least 50% and he'd have still been sulking after missing the first chance.

2 of them were headers, which he'd probably have headed over the bar even if he'd found himself in the right position, and even more of a problem would have been somebody getting a cross in in the first place.

So he'd have probably ended up just like Brewster and McBurnie

Just wild speculation on my part.

He wanted a ten fold increase on his Wigan wages that would have put him on parity with our highest earner/s, having never played above championship level.

I would’ve hoped that when that suggestion was put to us by his agent we laughed our collective bollocks off.

This all happened at the same time as we managed to sign the hottest English striking prospect (on paper) and england u21 from Liverpool and england’s u21 keeper and 6 months after we signed Berge.

We are capable of hitting the right numbers for the right players.

It’s a difficult one to argue, tbh. Someone can always say that in the strictest sense by not doing it, we couldn’t afford it.

But I’d point out the Lunny situation. He wants a significant increase (still within the realms of affordability) and we don’t see him as being worth it.

I thought someone from Wigan came out and said once we were aware of a release clause we reneged on the original price, Fulham didn’t, and he went there? Could all be nonsense though.
