What a refreshing change to have a honest forward looking owner.

I wonder how well the Prince knows the history of the club and whether he realises he has a great opportunity to cement himself as the club's best ever owner. Who does he have to beat? Is there another club with such a poor record of owners?
His next move is an important one. If he has McCabitus we'll go through 10 crap managers, but we desperately need him to be lucky first time. I say lucky because I'm under no illusion how difficult it is to find the right manager. Jokanovic is the only name suggested so far that excites me - is that realistic? It would at least back up the ambitious talk.
I just hope he doesn't go into competition with Chansiri over who can be the shittest owner of a Sheffield club ever.

It's a bit of a minefield really, I certainly thought Clough and Adkins were good choices initially, and of course the reverse of that was that nobody wanted Danny Wilson here and yet he did better than anybody until Wilder came along.

Everything has to align in order for a manager to make progress, from the relationship with the ownership to the chemistry with the squad he inherits, to acquiring the right players for the system and tactical approach to getting the fans on board. It's a tall order and there's no way of telling how it's going to go until at least 10 games into a season.

But as far as Jokanovic goes, if he can get us playing anything like his Fulham team then I'll certainly be happy with that.
When Danny Wilson is the 2nd best manager we've had for 10+ years you know we've made some poor choices. He was a Welshman's cock away from a very good season though.

There's good and bad at the top of all proffesions / trades, there's good and bad sides of all aguements and opinion's.
I would like to think we are of fair to middling opinions with our current owners. Only time will tell.
But let me tell you this for nowt, things could be a hell of a lot worse, a hell of a lot worse.

Bottom line he is basically skint. We have already borrowed against the parachute payments at 10% interest to fund the Prince buying out all McCabes interests in SUFC Ltd. That means players will be sold this summer so Egan, Berge and Brewster will all go leaving the new coach with a bunch of disaffected Wilder troops with no recollection of how to win football matches. League one beckons rather than a premium return mark my words, this is a gargantuan fluke up waiting to happen.

nah

Kevin McCabe was an owner of two halves for me.

When he first came in, he was a vast improvement on Fat Mike who was a massive asset-stripping twat, and initially stabilised the ship after the absolute boardroom circus of the 1990's.
But like you say, his ego was off the charts and he was as slippery as any politician in Westminster when pushed for answers. The period from 2007 onward was defined by stupid ventures and damaging decisions and he was acting like a complete arsehole by the end.
I think the only reason I've not criticised him as much as he deserves is because I once had a nice chat with him and Wilder in the Copthorne after we beat Wednesday 4-2 at the Rustbucket. We had a fun 5 minutes taking the piss out of the Grunters, which is always 5 minutes well spent.

If only the Hashimi/Kane takeover went through...

I'm half expecting (how do you "half expect" something?) him to pull of his mask Scooby Doo style revealing himself to be Carlo Colombotti.

Or peel off a few layers and reveal himself as a version of Sam Hashimi (this may take some time)

Owners of football clubs, and I'm not just talking about United, tend not to be loved and adored by the fans. I don't know why, maybe it's because to own a football club you have to be rich, to become rich it seems you usually have to be a real bastard. Bastards generally struggle to be generous, benevolent, trustworthy people. So yes, there could be some mask wearing going on.
On the other hand, there are a few well-respected owners around. Admittedly some are liked by the fans just because they've ploughed money into the club and brought success, but there are others who haven't got too much money, so it wouldn't be impossible for us to have found a fairly wealthy, not-stinking-rich, decent owner who will be a good steward of the club. Could it happen at United? We have scored at Wembley, so anything's possible.

If HRH is that hamstrung, why don't you make him and offer and show him how to run a club as you'd expect it to be done?

We have heard the prince side of the story. as we all know they are two sides to the story.
So I would like to hear Chris Wilders side of the story. then we can make a judgement.

Without wanting to rake over old coals I think "honest" may be pushing it a bit
So do I mate . I do hope some day we get one. I see two players Wilder asked the board to get turned out for England last night . I think it is called constructive dismissal and that nice prince got now't is doing the same to Wilders right hand man also.He is telling the truth when he says he did not want to sack him mainly because of the hefty fee it would cost him not because he liked him to continue .

Sensible man correct

What version of events do you think we've been getting from the press in the last few months, because it hasn't been the Princes?
Also not signing Lingaard or Watkins wouldn't amount to constructive dismissal when CW knew what the likely wage restrictions would have been at the start of the season.
In the Princes interview, he also suggests that Wilder moved from the attacking midfielder/forward (presumably Lingard) to a more defensive option, so maybe Wilder also passed on him?

If we’re borrowing against parachute payments, this presumably will be in the next set of accounts? 👀

Why do we need to make a judgment? Why not just move on? It’s not like we have any control over what’s happened.

What makes you think Wilder passed on him ?how do you come to that conclusion ?Wilder Stated he wanted Watkins ,Lingard,Cash,Robinson.Davis.he got none of them. Now why is that? Was it the wages thing? or was it a way to get at Wilder so he walks? Was it because Prince got now't is skint? Was it because Wilder failed with is second and third choice signings in the past?To really find the answers we need to know the other side of the argument i think and not to jump to conclusions.Wilder did try to sign some of them before the rest were showing any interest in them .In fact it looked like Villa were waiting for Wilder to show any interest in players before they trump the blades in any deal.

Definitely not constructive dismissal.

Chris was employed to serve the club within the parameters set by them.

We'd all have had times when we could have put in for constructive dismissal if we didn't get all the tools we asked for from those above us in the food chain.

You are right of course but being fans of a club for 50 or 60 years you show interest in what has happened and how it has gone pear shaped. So we are bound to be concerned what might be happening to OUR club be cause fans always out lasts owners and managers mate. We will still be here when they have gone. You just have to look across the City to see how owners can wreck a club so we are interested in what goes off and how decisions are shaping our club.

Well Definitely means you are with out doubt mate can you explain why you are so sure . Me being a old git who has seen things like this many times before tend to be more wary when you have seen familiar signs like we see here before and know how smart operraters play their cards.Spotted what was to be across the city the very day their so called saviour walked in the door . My God hope we don't see it again mate. I really do.

Wilder tried to jump ship at least twice, just get over him.
When the going gets tough....... 🤔

He was employed by a different owner though who might have had different parameters .

Will the club get over him?Took 50 years to get a right fit before he arrived. Be interesting to see who gets the job ,will it be a good well known name with a good track record or shall we go for the cheap options? Will it be a guy who is his own man? or a yes man?

Didn't we hear his side of the story in every press conference and post match interview since November ?

There is no right and no wrong in this, it's different people interpreting the same information/conversations in different ways. It's not that unusual and what we have here is the Princes first public attempt at his version. Some of it may well be wrong, most of us don't know, but plenty of what he says rings a bell with many of us who dont have entrenched views and are 100% for Wilder.

The only way, short term, this mess has any chance of being partially righted is by the next managerial appointment giving us hope. The Prince has to back his words with actions. Rightly or wrongly (as ultimately they could be successful) if he appoints Heckinbottom and Tindall then the proverbial will hit the fan

This is history repeating it's self .We saw all this before where the blades flicker into life only to have the fans excitement to be cut off in it's prime. They seem to get so far and then the owners stop dreaming to go that extra step . Remember when we finished 6th in the old div 1 with a really good team including Woodward .Currie.and the like only to stop trying to improve the squad for the season to follow which just like now saw the club plumet .

Can not remember Wilder saying anything about his departure or what went off behind closed doors in the board room. Only the princes views .
