Kevin McCabe was an owner of two halves for me.

When he first came in, he was a vast improvement on Fat Mike who was a massive asset-stripping twat, and initially stabilised the ship after the absolute boardroom circus of the 1990's.
But like you say, his ego was off the charts and he was as slippery as any politician in Westminster when pushed for answers. The period from 2007 onward was defined by stupid ventures and damaging decisions and he was acting like a complete arsehole by the end.
I think the only reason I've not criticised him as much as he deserves is because I once had a nice chat with him and Wilder in the Copthorne after we beat Wednesday 4-2 at the Rustbucket. We had a fun 5 minutes taking the piss out of the Grunters, which is always 5 minutes well spent.

His next move is an important one. If he has McCabitus we'll go through 10 crap managers, but we desperately need him to be lucky first time. I say lucky because I'm under no illusion how difficult it is to find the right manager. Jokanovic is the only name suggested so far that excites me - is that realistic? It would at least back up the ambitious talk.

At the same time, criticism when it doesn't work out can be unfair. It's a bit of a standing joke that McCabe couldn't see a good manager if one punched him in the face, but Adkins looked good on paper, Clough was a gnat's away from working out, no one has a crystal ball. I would be delighted with Jakonovic, but trying not to get too set on it.

It's a bit of a minefield really, I certainly thought Clough and Adkins were good choices initially, and of course the reverse of that was that nobody wanted Danny Wilson here and yet he did better than anybody until Wilder came along.

Everything has to align in order for a manager to make progress, from the relationship with the ownership to the chemistry with the squad he inherits, to acquiring the right players for the system and tactical approach to getting the fans on board. It's a tall order and there's no way of telling how it's going to go until at least 10 games into a season.

But as far as Jokanovic goes, if he can get us playing anything like his Fulham team then I'll certainly be happy with that.
