This would have been a fantastic trip for the Carrier Bag Firm. New ground. New pubs. Same old bollocks. We put some feelers out, but couldn't risk the trip with the likelihood of not getting in. Oh well. Have to vicarious it.

Charlton have a slightly better record at U18 this season than we do. Currently, they're in a Play Off spot.

FA youth cup games always used to be played at the home club's stadium (I'm sure it was a rule/part of the competition) does anyone know when/why that changed?

Allowances are being made this season because of Covid & bubbles & cotton wool snot tests. Basic rule as you describe it still stands.

Because we're in the North Group, and Charlton the South, we only play them once in a league season. We've already played them at Shirecliffe in November 2020. That finished three each. After we were 1-0 & 3-1 down. Equaliser from Cullinan on 71. Ayari scored the other two. Here's the team from that day.

These tables show how far behind our academy is. It's a bit of a joke that one as successful as ours is still at that level, simply because of a lack of investment in facilities.
We're the only PL Club with a Cat 2 (Division 3) Academy. Although it's worth pointing out that Leeds, Burnley & Palace have only gone Cat 1 this season. Swansea have gone down from Cat 1 to our level this season. Bournemouth are effectively a Cat 3 Academy.

I'm not particularly disagreeing. But, we read elsewhere that we can't afford the wages of priority transfer targets for the first team. It's a tough ask to spend money on upgrading the entire Academy structure - facilities & personnel - in that climate.

2-0 blades. Charlton looked the better side but wasteful united struggled to retain possession but taking their chances.

Ayari is mouse quiet. Not in the game at all. (obvs will score now I've said that)

Like a breath of fresh air watching this - just seen the Leeds v MKDons the camera looks brilliant compared to the Blades match. Leeds winning 7-1 !

Struggling to maintain possession through the middle definitely Phil
Obvs I haven't seen him live for over a year. But, I think he looks better as one of a top two, with a free, roaming role. But, it'll do him good to have to be disciplined & track a bit. See what he's got....

Great play then finishing with Brooks should have scored.

Seems a bit lost as a 10 certainly

I was not impressed with the Blades in the first half, but they looked much better in the second.
It was all a bit hoofball though...
