At one time there was a gate at the Kop end where you paid an extra bit of cash to get under the covered area, not sure how much but I'm sure that was the arrangement.
How would that work?At one time there was a gate at the Kop end where you paid an extra bit of cash to get under the covered area, not sure how much but I'm sure that was the arrangement.
I am sure there were some railings from ground level to the top of the Kop, with a gate halfway up, memory might be playing tricks here but I think I am right. How would that work?
Always thought it was, firsts come first served, as to who stood undercover on the Kop, as elsewhere on the terracing sections of the ground.
Probably a scam, in the days when gatemen were able to supplemented their gratuity with embezzlement.

Must admit only went on Kop when either couldn't get on Terrace or if with someone who was a Kopite.I am sure there were some railings from ground level to the top of the Kop, with a gate halfway up, memory might be playing tricks here but I think I am right.
I;m probably talking in the 50's here sometime 55/56? Long time ago.How long ago was that? I remember the small gate from the Kop to John Street for a few pence.

Manns Brown that was my tipple, still find it now and again the taste brings back good memories. remember it being 16p in 78 when I started drinking properly. Prior to being 18 was told to sit in the corner and get someone over 18 to go to the bar and get the beers!

After Blackburn were relegated in 1966Mike England transferred to Spurs shortly after.
What a team. Value in today’s market.? Staggering.
thought it looked like graham but thought he had finished playing when sherman got in the teamGraham, not Bernard. October 1964. We lost 4-0

Put together on a shoestring, relatively speaking. The club's never been wealthy but as you know, you didn't have to be, back then. We all saw ourselves as essentially a top flight club, based on history, with just temporary excursions into the second tier. Little did we know what the next 50 years would have in store! What a team. Value in today’s market.? Staggering.

Great write up for Hodgy, a technicality superb GK, and had loads of agility to go with it. The team photo really shows his average height, if I may put it like that. I wonder if he would be considered for a GK roll in today's game?
