I know I will get slated by a lot of people for this but I am going to say it anyway. Lets us be realistic about the players and what they will have gone through in the last few days. they have probably not known exactly what has been going on and like all of us will have being anxious to know what was happening with the management short and long term. For virtually everyone of them Wilder has given them the best years of their football lives. Many, if not most, would not have played Premiership football without Chris Wilder. Where do you think their heads have been over the last few days, where do you think they were this afternoon. Yes I know people are going to say they are professionals and therefore should be able to put that on one side but they are also human beings. There will be mixed emotions, I think many will feel let down and I think many will feel they have let Chris Wilder down, whether that is true or not. I don't think things will get better until there is a clear idea about the management and direction of the club. many will be worried about their futures and some will now be contemplating whether their careers are better served by leaving, especially if a big reason for being here in the first place was actually Wilder rather than the club.
We have seen this season that a number of our players, especially backup players are not good enough for the Premiership but they may still have a part to play in the future. I don't want our better players to leave and therefore hope that our fans can avoid abusing players on here and other social media platforms as I think that will put us right back to the atmosphere we had in the League 1 season before Wilder was appointed.

I thought it was clear today that some of the players were certainly shook by recent events. Some appeared to continue in the same vein as before. Those that CW have opportunities too certainly a case in point.

It's not hard to see the impact that losing a manager and mentor has had on some of the players, and it's been less than 24 hours since it happened.

I've made a couple of harsh remarks about the team myself after today and I regret it to be honest, because some of them really do care and they barely had time to process things before taking a hiding today. Sometimes we have to remember to see things from all angles.

Heckingbottom said as much in his interview. Genuinely feel sorry for the bloke and the players. They’ve been dealt a shit week by the decision makers at the club and are shell shocked.

Honestly feels like the heart has been ripped out of the club. Warnock leaving was a bit ‘meh’, Wilder leaving is a completely different kettle of fish.

I fully understand all the arguments for why people wanted him gone and want to blame him not the board. I just don’t agree.

Tough times lads and yes of course the players are only human. Most of us on here are too, despite the mudslinging. I think the fact that we can do naff all about any of it is so frustrating we vent in whatever direction offers a path of least resistance and forums like this provide us with a platform, hence some of the bile and bullshit we've all had to endure on every level of recent events.

Over the past 48 hours or so I've watched just about every blade on here breakdown. We're all absolutely gutted about what's happened. Wilder has given us some of the best football memories of our lives. He reignited our passion for the our great club. Yet most of us have never met the guy.

For the player's not only has he developed their careers, for many he'll be so much more that that. He'll have been a friend, a mentor, a key support in their lives and probably a father figure to some of the younger lads. In that team today only two players weren't signed by Wilder, our captain and our ever present.

Those lads will be hurting more than we are, if you think that won't impact a squad that's already struggling for confidence, then you utterly deluded.

I can forgive today. Everything that happens off the pitch was always going to spill onto the pitch. Just to make the challenge even harder we were also facing a very good and exceptionally well coached side.

Now we move on. We look to future and hope the leadership can lift the squad and get some confidence back.

I don’t know what some people expected today,if they thought we’d pull out a performance they live on another planet.
Rammers saves and Vardy‘s misfires Kept it in single digits.
From snooker to golf and football,sport is played in the head,our heads were shot and hav’nt been right since the restart last year.
I thought we actually had some bad luck at the beginning of this season which just dug the hole a bit deeper
and we were buried by Christmas.
The FA cup is a chance to put all to one side for 90+ minutes,for the players to have something to tell their grandkids. Hecky has a week to sort their heads and to make us proud of a performance,there will be people saying ‘no chance’ and patting themselves on the back for saying it or even the weird ones that want us to lose.......whatever,

Well guess what chaps - don't get much bigger than the next 10 games. For most it'll be the last 10 games they ever play in the PL. 2 games from an FA Cup final.

How do they approach it?

Dare I say, rolling over like they did today sums up our attitude/culture this season... Tough? Hell yes, but big men turn up for big events....

It's only natural that the players will be crestfallen and shell shocked hence the performance/scoreline today, but I genuinely think that sharp and other senior players but particularly sharp need to step up to the plate and get their hands around the rest of the squad throats and remind them of their responsibility to the shirt/club/fans and profession, we possibly need sharp more now than we've ever needed him before, this is his moment to influence sufc this season and next

No slating from me - spot on very sensible post imho. Hearing Sharp and Heckingbottom after the match you realise how she’ll shocked they are. I actually am now wishing we could be at the lane to cheer them on - imagine the boost that would give them. I know sounds crazy to some and my turn to get slated but I’d rather that than revert to toxicity of the past again.
