Paying millions to make your club worse

Don't know how many times this needs to be said, but he wasn't sacked
He had an agreement and a plan with the board. ‘Stick to the plan’ is what he wanted/expected. Regardless of how bad this season has been the Prince has always wanted to install a DOF at some point. It’s gone against everything that’s been agreed in the medium to long term plan the board had with CW. He may not have been sacked but he’s had his hand forced

Well I heard the rumour from a Celtic fan yesterday but chose to allude to it rather than wave my itk cock about.

We can all speculate. Could CW have done all this behind everyone’s back? I have no idea and have nothing to build any supposition on. The same as someone claiming that the board must have instigated all this. Based on nothing but bias.

It’s a big job, as things stand the biggest he may ever get. Should we knock him for that? If he’s been tapped up does it make any real difference if he wants out, other than regarding compo and a bit of bad publicity? This may suit the board, solves a possible issue maybe, gets a few quid from Celtic, reduces settlement payable to Chris etc etc. I could, like everyone else, go on with possibilities. (Not complete fantasies like the odd few) but l can’t set anything in stone because there isn’t enough out there. If you find out he did try to engineer the sack, would your opinion of him, over this, nothing else, change?

I think if you were SUFC you would surely put Wilder on ice and let Celtic to make a formal approach. Put it in the public domain. That solves absolutely all their problems in one go. Because the PR at the minute is absolutely cataclysmic and entirely foreseeable.

I would, but I can’t see it. CW has always been bolshy, see his famous interview at Northampton for example.

TBF we've been spending millions for the last couple years and already been declining so it seems we're just keeping the trend. ⚔️

So if wilder rocks up at Celtic in the next few weeks does United get any compensation ?
If they pay him off you'd say free agent therefore no, but I bet there's a non-compete that says if he joins another club there's a sliding scale of compo to be paid OR Chris gets paid in stages and that would stop if he got a job. I think if the move to Celtic is happening now while he's still on the books then obviously as you know we'd expect compo

After this seasons results and signings I don't think it was unreasonable at all to plan for changes in the way that recruitment operates. Most people have been saying this all season

Yes. But again. We don’t know anything.

What's wrong with "only" being Coach? It works for Pep and Klippety

As for CW financing the club by getting us to the PL, if you look at the costs of operating the club in the PL, and the wage bill, and the £130m spend, he's probably broke even so let's not get carried away
So if he’s ‘broke even’ where’s the Princes money/investment in all of this? By premier league standards he’s tinpot so whether we look for cheap foreign players or to buy the cream of the championship it’s a massive risk just made twice as difficult now the man who knows how this club and it’s fans ‘tick’ won’t be here

But even a change in recruiting is a huge gamble stacked against us. We don’t pay premier league wages. Ultimately you can’t sustain a PL place without paying them. It’s like eating out at a top restaurant and wanting to pay chip shop prices

HRH doesn't have the money to make us a consistent long term PL club mate. He is a step up from McCabe who just wanted to tread water and hope for the best. I do believe the Price has a far better chance of either selling us on to someone who DOES have the money or at least introducing an investor alongside. The Prince hasn't made much of an investment but in real terms no bugger ever has in SUFC

I agree with that fully, so if we are to somehow manage sustaining a prem place (unlikely as many think PA is not rich enough) then a smarter more modern approach is required

The problem is he doesn’t want to sell us. He wants to build “United world” of which none of us give a flying fuck about. We’ve been down this road with Kev before. It’s a distraction we don’t need

Where does the money come from to pay PL wages mate? 25 people on average £80k per week is £100m a year in wages alone, without the costs of running the club day to day. There has to be a return on the investment. yes the TV money is a massive help but they've all had to refund a large chunk of that this season. The prince is not the financial answer to us becoming a player in the PL BUT he might yet open the right door

The big difference mate is this: McCabe only ever acquired football clubs to create goodwill so his big property developments in the immediate surroundings got the go ahead. Belgium, China, Australia and even Scotland that many don't know about. The prince has another agenda, not yet so clear and until we really understand the plan we have no choice but to see what pans out

Do you usually negotiate a compensation package after handing your notice of resignation in?
You would if you were handing in your notice to get another role and it wasn’t accepted.
If you then quit for that role compensation is definitely due. Same if he took the role in the summer, we could still look for something.
Agreeing it all now at least keeps it cleaner.

Or Chris made several demands, none of which have been met, so he's off. That's not a sacking it's two things. One, a smokescreen to cover an unprecedented catastrophe of a season (in which he hasn't accepted any responsibility for one second). Two, it creates a friction that leads to a division where it's neither a sacking nor a resignation because he wants his compo.

he hasn't been sacked however you dress it up mate. Who is "his man" then who the Prince wants in his place? Surely not Paul Tindall! Appointing Tindall or Appleton suggests HRH is actually scrabbling around for help, not sliding in his long term favourite.

And if Chris has been sacked, why is his long-term friend and colleague Knilly supposedly staying if Chris has been treated so badly?
The one I thought he wanted was Van Winckel.

If Knill is staying then it adds intrigue and probably suggests that Wilder was looking for a way out. I just want to believe the “I act in the best interests of this Footbal club” line that Wilder uses a lot.

He’s had two years to try and bring investment in. It was blatantly obvious beforehand he was out of his depth financially even when we were in the championship. He couldn’t even afford the 45m to pay for the assets. He got lucky thanks to Wilder getting us up. I just don’t see how buying a piss pot tiny french club about to be relegated to the third division can possibly help us. It’s all ifs, buts and maybes but it’s hard to see how ‘United world’ will have any significant benefit for us in the future

I've always thought Van Winkel was the cuckoo mate

United World is for him, not for us. McCabe had agreed a deal with ALK to sell SUFC to them and look what they've done at Burnley!

The prince is not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy, but he's the least naughty option we have

Quite possibly true. How disheartening is that

It's not great spongey, but "'twas ever thus" following the Blades.

It's like the Blades are an evil Dominatrix. She gives you masses and masses of pain for a very long time but then just as you're in the pit of despair she tickles your bum and lets you cum. Just as you're revelling in the glory of it she sticks a new spike up yer arse and off you go again

Could you pm me her number please?

I have to wonder what world people live in, who didn’t think Wilder has previously done enough to earn 28 matches.

I find it beyond belief that we’ve got fans who would think in this way.

Thankfully, I don’t know anyone outside social media who does, and that starts to explain things :)

I know one and he’s mad as a box of frogs.

I accept everybody’s right to have a different opinion, even if it seems irrational to me. However, there are some posters on here who seem to be trying just a little bit too hard on someone’s behalf .........
