commentary on BT

I've heard that every borderline penalty decision is reviewed even if they don't announce it. I can only assume that they checked it and saw it was outside of the box - VAR can't give free kicks. It looked a foul to me
Isn't that just stupid though? Like the Ghost goal last year. VAR could see it was a goal but the rules say they can't tell the Ref it was a goal. VAR is like letting the lunatics run the asylum

Yes, technically he was last man - ish in my view. He was a long way from goal, and Bryan could well have made it across. For me, yellow was the correct call.

But it is what it is, I've been rather overtaken by other family events today so I'm now wishing VAR was the worst of my problems, but it really isn't.

Good luck for the rest of the season
I hope all is okay with your family and it works out well. 🤞

One positive for Championship football next season is the return of Daniel Mann on the commentary 😍

Head and shoulders above anyone else.

I see my modus operandi is not catching on. Sound off, reggae playlist on is the only way to watch football.

I'm going to stick my head between the cymbals of a giant wind up monkey.

Better than listening to Sutton..................

Not sure about the reggae but can I just have the crowd noise (not fake) and NO commentary. Somebody said this was once possible, but I wasn't aware of it

I’ve been doing it since the nineties. Not always reggae (in those days it was a lot of house music) but I often watch with the sound down and music on.

They don't commentate on the games anymore, just rattle off stat after stat after stat. I'm sick of it.
In fact that's the fourth time I've said I'm sick of it since the beginning of February. Only my son has said he's sick of it more with six times.

I quite liked them last night. Don't usually like Chris Sutton but liked him last night

The online debate just shows how many problems VAR is creating. Regarding the Red, I can still see how it was given but I think it should have been a yellow. But with VAR all doubt should be removed. It should be crystal fcuken clear that it was a Red for the Ref to award the Red. These decisions should not create more debate. The Villa 'penalty'. We should not be debating it. It should have been made bloody clear which it is.

Every bloody week we have stupid decisions by VAR. I think that ex players should be asked to assist the VAR Ref in their decision making and give a real understanding of what it was like on the pitch.

You're not an ex professional player are you Begley ? But I assume you're pretty sure what should have happpened.

We've all seen enough football to come to a sensible conclusion, and so have these referees. That they're incapable of that, and wish to interfere where it's not needed is another question entirely.

I loathe the "never played the game" mentality of most ex-pros and they can't agree with each other in the studio most weeks. Why anyone would think they'd all speak with unanimity if they were put in the referee booth I don't know.

Wow, thanks for that. This brings back a work memory, three years ago one of colleagues received an official written warning when he said out loud 'I feel a right berk'. A fellow colleague who didn't like him raised an official HR complaint, stating that he had used inappropriate language for a call centre, office, etc. and explained why (as per your correct CRS definition). He had an untarnished record up to this point and swore his ignorance but to no avail with HR (I think there is actually a test case for this in HR land in the UK). In addition to showing the nonsense of the politically correct work culture; commentators and pundits have had to apologise for less. I'm sure a formal online petition complaining about Sutton's use of language would have to be taken seriously by BT as they are answerable to shareholders and normal HR regulations, and he's implied that Ollie Burke is a you know what. He's just not funny and paid too much money as reward and deserves calling out for what he is. What a travesty.
On a more humurous note a mate of a mate a few years ago came to visit him a few years ago and said 'I see you've got some bacons next door!'. Tony replied "Bacons?", "Yeah, Bacons", came the reply. Tiny said "Bacons, what do you mean?". His mate replied "Bacons, Bacon sarnies - Pakistanis". Priceless.
