I know plenty of you think it’s all a load of cock, but I was just looking at the table sorted by ‘xPTS’ - hey, anything to avoid looking at the real table sorted by ‘actualPTS’ - and was surprised by what I saw.
No, not by our numbers, which even though xPTS has more than doubled our pathetic collection of 11pts to 23, still have us deep in relegation trouble (though admittedly not in bottom place and only one win from safety). The ongoing reality of the comedy of our defending and tragedy of our attacking sees to that.
But look who is fourth. Yes, fourth. Brighton & Hove Albion, that’s who. Fourth, a full eight places above Everton, who if they win their game in hand will be third in the real table, rather than three points above Fulham. F*ck me.
So what does that prove? Other than xPTS are a load of cock? Damned if I know. But it does at least show that someone else is underperforming even more than us.
