Only a short trip to Scunny from Lincoln.

All I can say is. Dire. First fifteen minutes I thought something had changed, and then it got worse, and worse and worse.

That's about all I have to say at the minute. I'm still too gutted/speechless/at a loss.

i feel so sorry for you, i hope you gave all those spineless wankers some grief, clear out needed.

You probably don't need to say any more. "...it got worse, and worse and worse" is probably the most suucinct and articulate description of this entire season that I have read.

Well done for making the journey. I think we are all equally gutted/speechless and at a loss.

Absolutely unbelievable, 2 up and Lowry waits to head a ball that I could see had backspin on from 60 yards away and was never going to bounce high enough, then he pulls the attacker down.

They were miss kicking the ball, were out muscled and out fought, but the worst of it was most of them don't seem to give a shit.

Adams might as well send Bent back now, because he's not interested and on tonights showing Collins and Doyle don't inspire much confidence in his judgement.

Tonight was one of the worst performances I've seen, professional footballers? What a joke, they should hang their heads in shame.

When I was a kid we'd play 20 a side and most of them wankers wouldn't have got a game!

You know your stuffed when all you do is hit it up in the air, but never win the ball. I hear Yeovil is delightful this time of year.

No issues with commitment tonight but that's not enough. Individually and at set pieces we're lacking big style at the back. Substitutions didn't help tonight either. Had best spell at 3 2 down with everything good coming through Lowton and Quinn down left and he moves lowton to right. Ended with ched on wing and boggy in the hole. What a fucking mess

The pen came from Collins, surely?

He looks a poor player - what have you done there Mickey?

With 10 minutes to go and with a win desperately needed, I was thinking about the final whiste so that I could have a fag. I'm most disappointed at my lack of disappointment about the result.

We're really shite. It's all about next year now.

As a harsh critic of Evans, I have to say what a class above he looked tonight. It just about caps it all that when he finally looks like earning a wage, the magnitude of what we're paying him will take its' toll and we'll be forced to offload.

Anyway, fuck it, lower division football it is. It sorts the men from the boys.

:)

i thought the pen was by collins. harsh, but put your arms round a player-your asking for trouble.

p.s. hope the fag provided more satisfaction than the match ;)

bad day

I am shocked how did we slip up i wonder. i feel for Micky Adams its the players who are not up for it.

Like to know which wanker OK'd it to shut the M180 on the way home, just topped my night off.

We slipped up because we're shite. Sadly, it really is that simple.

I can't believe Boggy doesn't rate above Cressy. I can't believe Willo didn't at least get on. But we've made change after change. Nothing alters. Too many weak links and not enough spark. Even the loans have been totally crap, Reid apart.

Riise was our most attacking player today (Ched played well by his standards too as mentioned somewhere else). But the rest of them were utter garbage. How many set pieces do we have to concede from until we learn that you have to mark every player in the box? Or do we just think it's fun to let one have a go?

Thought Riise had a really good first half. Agree Ched was top drawer throughout, and Lowton looks stronger than his slight frame suggests. Some good battling by Quinny and a couple of cleverly executed crosses near the end. Other than that, utter, utter, utter shite.

Bent is hiding on the wing, unless of course he's been directed there by Mickey (do I remember him stuck on the left wing a lot during our last home games ? What is the point of Marcus Bent unless he's bullying defenders in the box ? ). But Bent's not alone. For about 70 mins of this match most of our players were hiding from the ball. Hardly anyone at all EVER shows for the ball in this team, even when we're coming forward and there are obvious little drop-offs or overlaps to be made. Yeates had been on the pitch for about 30 seconds before he was at it. It's so dispiriting, when everyone in the stand is mentally making those runs, or dropping into that space, and absolutely bugger all is happening on the pitch.

And, good god almighty, if you think we've seen some hoofball in the last couple of decades, you should have seen this. The instruction to anyone receiving the ball between our 6 yard box and the half way line is obviously just to smash it as hard as he can while the rest chase the knock-downs, even if the hoof goes 60 yards up as well as 60 yards long. Remember when we used to bounce it off Shipps ? Bouncing it off Shipps looked like Barcelona compared to this moronic, counter-productive, possession-surrendering shite.

And yeah, closing the M180. Followed my tail in circles for about an hour in the middle of bloody nowhere. Another great Blades night out.

One thing I wouldn't fault., in the short term, is the direct football. It brought us 2 early goals and we really should have had more. One again schoolboy defending has cost us. I thought us going out and out direct was the way for the rest of the season. For 20 minutes tonight I was being proved right. But the full 90 minutes was enough to expose us for what we are - a hopeless shpower of shit that will be relegated no matter what.

Just back myself, fuckin fuming at what I've witnessed tonight. Save for Ched, Boggy, Quinn and Riise I'd get rid of all the useless spineless shits.

Cresswell is STEALING a living from us as are the likes of Yeates and Bent who don't fancy the scrap.

I feel sorry for Collins who's just crap but can't help it, likewise for Simmo and I also felt Lowton had a mare 1st half.

Just really bad. Really, really bad. Someone put us down.

..and listening to Adams afterwards there appears to be an even bigger malaise/cancer at this club than even our worst fears sugested, he seems to have almost given up on this season ( a bit like we have, maybe its realistic but not really the attitude you expect from a well paid manager given that there are 13 matches left) and to be inviting the crowd to have a go a some of the players.

If things really are that bad in the dressing room, then clear out the ones who aren't in the plans for next year now, send the loanees that he doesn't want back (plus Bent) and try and bring in a couple more. Trouble is I am not convinced that MA is the man to turn things around next season, the players he has brought in have been largely uninspiring/duds.

We were basically given a two goal head start and contrived to lose. To Scunny. But hey, we outplayed them again. It's just chance that they've beaten us 7-2 on aggregate. They're no better than us

Never have I been less confident with a team that was two up. We all knew we were one mistake from disaster, and sure enough that was the case. We're a beguiling mix of gutlessness and incompetence at the minute.

Simonsen: four efforts on target of note, three goals. Says it all. The penalty wasn't hit well, the second was saveable and the third was ... well, where to start!

Nosworthy: by his own low standards, he did OK tonight. No more, no less. MA said he lost his man for third goal.

Lowton: this young lad has got to start from now on. Solid defensively (no fault for any goal) and looked a threat down the left in the second half till he switched. Comfortable on the ball which is a rarity with us.

Lowry: not at fault for the penalty (as someone said above, it was Collins ...) and continues to impress me. I don't think he did anything wrong tonight.

Collins: oh ... my ... f'n ... god! First rule of defending - don't let the ball bounce. That's how you give away soft penalties and chances. Second rule - learn from your mistakes, don't keep letting the ball bounce. Dreadful, absolute dreadful. Caught out far too often, very, very poor.

Doyle: still waiting for him to do something that impresses me ... why have we signed him?

Riise: liked him. Put his foot on the ball and was the most dangerous player we had first half. Good touch, nice footballer, great effort which hit the bar. Scunny got to grips with him second half though.

Ertl: hahahaha! Footballer you say? Tall - but never wins an header. Strong - but never makes a challenge. Midfielder - but cannot pass the ball. Give him a job as a ball boy, Micky!

Quinn: did well tonight and never gave up. Two peaches of crosses in second half crying out for someone to get on the end of them. Never gave up battling and took a few whacks. Well done.

Cresswell: it's not a lack of effort - thought the treatment of him was harsh by some Blades - but his legs are gone and he's just not effective enough no more. Needs to be a substitute.

Evans: for me, best player on pitch. Looks stronger and working harder since MA arrived. Is starting to get goals now. Pity we'll have to sell him next summer.

Bent: woeful. Never looked like getting the ball or getting in the box never mind scoring a goal.

Yeates: dreadful. I've defended him in the past but no more. I'd fancy myself to win the ball 99% of the time against him. And I'm crap and can't run. A bit like Yeates then.

Bogdanovich: again came on and made a difference. However, he has little impact when he starts. Hmm, keep him on the bench.

Alco--part of me hates myself for this, but I agree with you about short-term hoofing if it keeps us up. Despite his reputed fondness for the hoof, there are former players of Adams on the record saying he likes his teams to get it down and play. Hopefully we can do this next season, whatever division we're in.

The problem tonight was that hoofing it just didn't work for most of the game. It worked fine in the first 20 mins, when players were breaking deep into their half with commitment and invention to chase the ball. But when the chasers vanished and the hiders took over all that smashing it achieved was giving the ball back to Scunthorpe (who were just as poor as us, making the turnaround all the more galling). The only defence of smashing it, so far as I can make out, is if it works. The way we smash it, it doesn't work.

The worst performance i've seen in the last 25 years.

I've seen 5/6 goal hidings, the games where we surrendered without a shot on target, the nil nil bore fests, but this one was the worst.

What sealed it for me was the quality of the opposition because quite frankly Scunthorpe were absolutely fucking shit and there for the taking. At 2-0 we should have been coasting, kept it tight at the back but we let a goal in, then the equaliser just before half time, and from that moment on, heads had dropped, the fight had gone and it was only a question for me of how many we would ship for the rest of the night.

The back four looked shocking, especially Simonsen and Collins who need dropping as soon as possible. Lowry's sending off was stupid, as soon as he committed the foul everyone knew it was a sending off. The comedy moment came towards at the end as Collins and Simonsen made a couple of complete hashes of stuff despite being in absolutely no pressure resulting in a corner and a throw in for Scunthorpe.

Quite frankly tonights defeat was disgusting.

I thought the car park stewarding was absolute shit, as the 60 odd year old bloke was a fucking lunatic. I had been waiting 35 minutes to get out when he clocked my Blades shirt and stopped me to let loads of home fans out in front of me for about 5 minutes. When i started creeping forward he came running over and started shouting at me 'i've told you not to move that car' at which point i told him i'd been waiting 35 fucking minutes to get out and you've deliberately stopped me from getting out because i'm wearing a Blades shirt, so i got back in the car and drove out and merged with the traffic with him going apopletic with me for disregarding his higher authority. At that point i was like a wasp in a jam jar. I'd been subjected the inane ramblings of the cognescenti who'd like to praise Wednesday but hadn't been on Football Heaven, and now i was ordered about by a jumped up nobody in a bright orange hi-vis, and he was getting it.

Once i got back on to the road i thought it would pain sailing back to Sheffield before hitting the traffic and he road closure on the M180 which also lengthened by journey time. Can't someone on the fucking Highways Agency think there is a big football match taking place in Scunthorpe and a couple of thousand people travelling back via that route so why not check first and close it after the football traffic has gone, or choose another night to do this work.

All in all, with the Blades, car park hitler, and roadworks i'm in a pretty fucking foul mood.

And i'm going to get off before i start on Marcus Bent

a positive note was parking the car in the car park only cost £3 and i got out nice and easy ;)

Like to know which wanker OK'd it to shut the M180 on the way home, just topped my night off.

As if the night was not crap enough, crap football, crap beer in a crap pub in a crap town. It took me hours to get out the car park then we finally get going and somebody closed the whole of fucking Lincolnshire.

Only Scunnys 3rd home win of the season. We are seriously, seriously shit.

£1.49 for a pint of bitter and £1.82 for a pint of lager - I'm not complaining about the beer :)
