Of course it’s not worse than the Adkins team. They were a mid-table League One side. However relative to the league they were in that team wasn’t as bad as we are now.

Not every match though. We create next to nothing most games. I'm struggling to recall a more toothless team than this one.

You have to consider the opposition
When playing in the third division we were playing against third division teams whose transfer budget was a few hundred thousand pounds. We are playing in the worlds toughest league and up against some of the worlds best players who earn a few hundred thousand pounds per week whose transfer budgets are hundreds of millions of pounds per season
Your memory of our third division days under Adkins and Clough must be really quite bad if it isnt you should really give your head a shake

Comparison of our current team with those from earlier eras/other divisions is pretty pointless, but what I think we can all agree on is that, after the meteoric rise to the Premiership and the exploits of last season, this has to be the most DISAPPOINTING and SHAMEFUL United team EVER.

Whatever our individual views, what we all on here have in common is a passionate love of our Blades, but as Blades what we all demand is that our players give their all. Thats how some players of at times maybe limited ability, have become legends. What we saw against Fulham and have seen far too much of this season is a "can't be arsed" capitulation, which will never be acceptable.

I'll never stop loving the Blades, but right now regrettably I have no pride in being a Blade.

The number of people who equate poor performance with can't be arsed is mind-boggling. It is a complete nonsense to think that you can tell who can and can't be arsed by how much they run around a football pitch and whether they perform well and win or perform badly and lose. If we'd got that penalty and one of the other chances had gone in I guarantee you wouldn't think they hadn't been arsed, even if the rest of the game would have been exactly the same.
These player's careers go down with the club, for some of them the club will have a much better prospect of bouncing back and shrugging off the relegation than some of these players will have of progressing their careers. There's not a hope in hell that they weren't bothered.
They aren't top notch PL players and their self belief is completely shot - that's what you're seeing.

Bury away under Madkins. If you weren't there, you won't have seen the worst performance in a lot of people's lifetimes. The fans turned on the team like l've never seen.

I don’t think it’s as bad (relatively of course), but at times it feels worse and I think that’s just heightened by the fact we are all sat watching it on the sofa.

Assuming we were playing this bad with fans still in, I don’t think the perception would be quite so negative as there wouldn’t be the detailed analysis of everything on social media. Being sat (possibly alone) in your living room, reading pretty much infinite commentary on games changes perceptions.

2023/24: We're in an incredibly challenging situation in almost comical circumstances.

But we just got promoted with over 90pts, after Hecky completely rescued us from a borderline disastrous Jokanovic era. We badly needed a year of Prem money plus parachute payments, just to pay the bills.

Overall things aren't as bad as some are making out.
