Problem is we’ve just played a side who may come down with us and not even laid a glove on them.

On that evidence we are going to be miles off the pace. If the intention is to keep the group together, we shouldn’t need to bring much more in after the amount we’ve thrown away this season.

We need a settled midfield, and settled defence and a lot more creativity.
 
Wait, is this thread resign or re-sign? He's due the yearly contract re-signing.
 
The trouble this season is that we just haven't had a settled team at any stage. Hardly any player apart from Basham and Egan have made themselves certain of selection. The rest have either suffered simply from a loss of form or a combination of injury and loss of form. Consistent players for the last two or three years have been inconsistent. Solid, dependable players are making mistakes. We are so lacking in pace through the middle of the team and we are caught too easily on the counter attack if we push forward. We all know some of the players we signed have not delivered. At the moment Wilder is just having to juggle players as best he can and with matches coming thick and fast we will be lucky to have enough players by mid-March. You can argue about tactics and selection but we don't know who is 100% fit or carrying knocks. We cannot just change our way of playing now. The reason why we got where we di with the palyers we did was because we played as a team and ebveryne understood how we played. That can't happen with all the changes we are having to make. It is painful to watch and I think what hurts most is the cliff we have fallen off after the last few years. Write this season off and we can prepare our squad early for next seaason. It is hard to think of positives. I think some of the players need to be told early that there future is not at BL so we can re-build. I hate to see players who have contributed to a great few years being slagged off every week, even if performances have dropped. I also find it painful to see Wilder as he is. I think in most jobs he would probably be signed off with stress!!!

I agree with much of what you are saying in this post. My concern now, is the attitude we carry forward into next season as a team.
Wilder has often repeated how high the standards are in the PL and how every game is really tough.
I hope that players who are retained, will not assume an easy ride in the championship next season.
It took two seasons to get out of it last time around, and we/they should not expect an easier ride this time around.
The last two seasons have seen us on the crest of a wave that carried us from the championship, and into a season in the PL that exceeded expectations.
Getting relegated into the league below will come with different expectations. It will be unacceptable for any player to relax and give only 90% next season.
If we go into next season thinking negatively about the league below, it could quickly come adrift, and put the team in disarray.
All the players coming back from long term injury, especially the likes of Berge and JOC, will need to re-establish themselves in the remains of this season or the start of the next, otherwise their value will plummet. Moose is an enigma, with so much potential, but a poor attitude and injury/fitness history.
Egan now faces a long layoff, so he will be behind Berge and JOC in re-establishing his form.
Fans have all had their say on Robinson, Osborn, Bryan and Lowe, regarding their suitability for the PL, but they could all shine in the championship.
I believe that individually and collectively, they all have a point to prove at the start of next season. If Wilder deserves a crack at it so do they. Time to establish themselves as players who will stay with the Blades, or a shop window for bigger things.

I'm sure wilder will get rid of the deadwood and get some quality signings in, tweak the system, come up with a plan B and we will be back up in no time, as long as we support him because he is a blade and got us promoted twice.

Funny because the pigs say that chansiri should be let of the hook because he got them to two playoffs and loves the club blah blah and here we are, acting the same.

Sentiment gets you no where other than lower league football.


I hope he turns it around, my heart yearns for it, but at the moment I can't see anything other than disaster.

It’s been a bit longer than a minute between points 1&2 though hasn’t it? Hardy a knee jerk reaction. We’re setting records for shitness, playing the worst negative, eye-bleedingly-bad football I can remember, and have a manager in danger of being consumed by his own ego, whilst having increasingly frequent digs at the fans. Hardly outrageous to question his position is it?
 
He’ll stay until we are out of the cup then I’m guessing he will leave by mutual consent ie a decent wedge but not paying his contract up.

Interim manager to suck up the rest of this dreadful season while a new manager, plan and budget are put in place ready for next season.

And if anyone calls me a pig I’m gonna die again!

Or shall we say how Wilder can do next year when he doesn't have half a team and his best 4 or 5nplahers consistently unavailable?

The concerning thing is after the pretty disastrous record of signings how much confidence s there that he can turn it round?

Other than McGoldrick I'd say his signing of forwards has been very poor and a hell of a lot of money spent too, he seems to have lost his way in midfield signings too so we are left with te team that finished the first season back in the championship.

Dont forget, whilst he doesn't admit it now CW/AK have not managed in the Championship or Premier League until the last few years so they have to learn things too. Perhaps they need time out to reflect and adapt as well and given Covid they haven't really had that time.
 



When was the last time we sacked a manager and brought in a improvement after relegation. I think the answer is never. We don't want a repeat of after we sacked warnock. I believe if we kept him we would of gone straight up
 
Isn't it odd, every manager that Wednesday have that has them losing every week - we want to stay.

For some reason the pigs really want to see the back of Wilder still even thought we are rock bottom 🤔

Our first relegation was in 1934, Teddy Davison was already our manager for 2 years, got promotion in 1939. Relegated in 1949 but he carried on for 3 more years.

Reg Freeman took over in 1952, got promotion in 1953, died in 1955.

Joe Mercer took over in 1955, got relegated in 1956, carried on till xmas 1958

John Harris took over in 1959 after Archie Clark's few months as caretaker manager (Archie moved on to be our chief scout until his death during the 1966-67 season). Harris got promotion in 1961, moved "upstairs" after relegation in 1968.

Arthur Rowley lasted one season (1968-69) before Harris returned to the hot seat, promotion in 1971. Moved aside in Dec 1973.

Ken Furphy's spell lasted 22 months. Jimmy Sirrel took over in October 1975 but couldnt halt relegation (1976), sacked in Sept 1977

After Cec Coldwell's spell as caretaker manager, Harry Haslam became our manager in February 1978, relegation to 3rd division for the 1st time in history in 1979, resigned in Jan 1981, Martin Peters took over and resigned after relegation in 1981.

Ian Porterfield was next and we got promotion in 1982 and 1984. Sacked in March 1986. Billy McEwan from March 1986 to Jan 1988. Save Bassett couldnt halt relegation but got is promoted in successive seasond (1989 and 1990), relegated in 1994 and resigned in December 1995.

We stayed in the 2nd division until 2006 when Warnock got us promotion, his contract ran out after relegation in 2007.

In 2010-11 Gary Speed left as our manager to become Wales boss, Micky Adams couldnt prevent relegation in 2011 and we stayed in the 3rd tier until Wilder got us promotion in his first season in 2016-17
