Didn't the quality of the opposition have a lot to do with how we could play last season?

The quality this year is better. See Chelsea, Man U, Aston V.
We are missing key players both with injury and with form, so we simply don’t perform to the same standards
That doesn’t mean that the ethos and intent have changed,just the performance

I'll go West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, Burnley, Brighton, Palace, Arsenal.

Apart from WBA and Fulham, the others are scraping results. We would have fucking smoked them last year - with the players we've got available now too!

I was trying to point out teams that last year were poor and this year are not.
You could add in Spurs and Everton.
Overall the standard is higher and last season we were fortunate to have several good sides “in transition “
I doubt we would have been in the top half this season even if things had gone our way, although recruitment may have been easier in January
